After my first visit I am kicking myself for having never been! My cousin married a German pastry chef some years ago and introduced me into that amazing world of delicious and traditional baked goods, so I am always on the lookout for a tasty treat– I got a marzipan tart(beautiful to look at) and apricot hamantaschen to share with my mom. WOW. the first to last bites were PERFECT! Flavorful, not too sweet or overly doughy or dried up. The hamantaschen was just as good. I can’t wait to go in again! I’m also going to add my curmudgeonly note that it is a cute and friendly café, free of the usual hipster trappings that beset so many places in town

Yumsk! Great baguette ham and Swiss sandwich. Followed by a really tasty apple strudel. Not too sweet with almonds and fantastishe pastry.

What a pleasant surprise! I had 30 minutes to kill and decided to check out Erhard’s. They make sandwiches and cakes, but also have a nice selection of pastries. I had the café mocha and apple strudel. They asked me several questions about how I wanted my coffee and my pastry, ensuring everything was perfect. The outdoor seating was nice. There was even a meet-up of men speaking German and having a good time, which added to the atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back. Be forewarned: they don’t accept credit or debit cards!

I’ve been here a few times over the years. Was in recently again for lunch. It’s not pretentious, has a pretty good selection of lunch options and pastries. The patio is a nice place to relax with an iced latte. The German woman, who is the owner, is pretty friendly most of the time. I’m only giving it 3 stars because I’ve had much better pastries in the US and Europe, so I just can’t go higher. I’m really picky that way.

Great lunch spot. I try to stop in here every time I am in this part of town. Food is excellent, portions are generous, and the baked goods are the best!

What a cute place! Only been here once but it just charmed the pants off of me(note, that’s a southern saying, my pants stayed on the entire time). The german lady that served me was awesome. The latte she made me was awesome. The éclair she served me was awesome. Definitely recommend!

Great for a light meal or a special treat — Erhard’s is run by a lovely older couple and is a gem of a neighborhood spot. Great quiches and European pastries

4.5 stars for Erhard’s I enjoyed lunch recently at this pleasantly old – world European bakery/café. In a Boulder that has now become a whirlwind of restaurants and other businesses that bend over backward and go through all sorts of other twisted contortions to attract the business of the yuppies, trustfunders, students, and other big spenders, it is refreshing to find a café that is excellent as it is and can just BEITSELF without all the high ceilings, loft décor, gluten free this and that, sugar free this and that, etcetera. You know what I mean. So refreshing. Friendly service, delicious vegetable quiche and a nice tomato-rice soup. The perfect lunch in a pleasant environment. I will stop in again when I am in this part of town.

The food is out of this world. My quiche was microwaved instead of toasted – which always makes me a little weary. The microwave couldn’t ruin something this good though. The crust was soft, moist, and flaky. I was hoping for a more unique tea selection. They did have twinings though. Very reasonably priced and worth a stop in.

This brings me back to Europe every time! My girlfriend likes to go to Big Daddy next door and I love to pick up a quiche or something sweet. The quiche reminds of how they sell them in European shops, baked in the morning and sitting out on the shelf, and yet no one gets sick(Damn Americans with their hand sanitizers and fear of natural germs). I have never had a plain croissant, but their pain au chocolat was decent, the filling wasnt very French, it was kind of a pudding type chocolate, maybe it was ganache? Either way, it is the closest that you can get to an old school bakery in this town, and worth the laid back feeling and cash only policy.

I went here on the recommendation of a friend, specifically for their cookies. Now, just so you know, I’m a Jewish woman who grew up making many authentic Jewish dishes, including Hamantaschen. My friends and family know how good and authentic my dishes are and also how varied. I always get special requests for things I’ve made in the past to bring to dinner parties, especially my baked goods, brisket, and a few other items. I love to cook and bake. My ancestors were mostly northern European Jews. I spent a good portion of my childhood cooking with my grandmothers and aunties to learn how they did things. Then I continued to practice, on my own, over the last 40+ years. I have tried many bakeries for Hamantaschen, in every city I’ve lived in, including the Boulder/Denver area, alone and with friends and family, and they all have disappointed us when compared to mine. I’m not exactly sure why, but it seems to us that the professional bakeries’ Hamantaschen cookies are just too doughy and the fillings not very tasty. The outsides should be just slightly crisp and not too thick. So far, this bakery is the closest we’ve come to almost perfect, but still not as good as mine. Maybe I should start my own place. As for some of the other foods they serve, nothing particularly outstanding either, though their chicken salad was pretty good.

Cute little mom & pop Euro-style bakery. We got chicken salad(as a salad, served on lettuce with sliced cucumber, tomato wedges and pickles) and a salami & cheese sandwich on croissant. The chicken salad was very good, although nothing particularly exciting about it. The salami sandwich was big, with lots of salami. The croissant, which is more expensive than the baguette, was well worth the extra cost. It was buttery, flaky, and oh so delicious. We also had an apricot hamantoshen(Israeli, also spelled hamantaschen, I believe) and a «linzer tart»(linzertorte). The hamantoshen were triangular, but they didn’t look as much like little hats as the ones I’m used to. No big deal, as it was still delicious! The linzer tart was also excellent, had a nice almond-y flavor. They are cash only. We spent about $ 25.75 before tip for 2 lunches and 2 pastries, just for reference. Both owners were there — she was really sweet and we saw her go very much out of her way to fix something special for a customer’s toddler; he was perhaps a bit on the gruff side, but her English also seems better, so he could just be less comfortable with the language and come off as less friendly as a result. I will definitely be back to try more of those pastries!

Cute little shop & the vanilla latte I had was yummy. I would give it 5 stars if it didn’t only take cash.

I was excited to find a European bakery in the area, complete with an authentic German owner, strudel, etc. The service was great and prices weren’t bad, but the food left us underwhelmed. I had a peach tart that was obviously made with canned peaches, and my wife’s Napoleon was«the worst she’s ever tasted», a frozen inspid mass of cream and not much else. On the positive side, my wife had a very good latte that only cost $ 1.92. Where can you get that? I doubt that I’d come back, but the apple strudel DID look good, and there seemed to be a lot of regulars coming in for their favorites. Maybe we just picked the wrong things to try?

Cute mom-and-pop style European bakery/café. CASHONLY. The smell alone when you walk in is enough to make your mouth water. The delicate smell of buttery pastries is heavenly. I also liked that they list the country the pastry hails from(most of what I saw today was German). Super friendly staff — I can’t wait to go back and stuff my face with pastries!

IMPORTANTNOTE: CASHONLY! There is a very special spot in my heart for small-old-world bakeries and I am ecstatic to find one about a mile away from my place in Boulder. Sure its neighbor(Big Daddy Bagels) gets more business in the mornings that the surrounding 20 stores, but this is by far the most special. I’ve had a friend apprentice with the head baker(who he claims is a complete a-hole) but cannot deny he learned a lot and agrees with my feelings about the place. I wish they had a bigger menu. My lady and I have decided to limit our visits to keep its uniqueness, which is extremely difficult. The wife of the main baker seems to do most of the front of the house work and is beyond old-world-polish-baker’s-wife-cute. Simply adorable. I have never sat inside since I have brought my dog every time I have went. They have had no issues at all with my canine and have often came out to greet him and comment on his features. This bakery brings me back to Europe every time. I have not had anything bad yet. The espresso isn’t anything to write home about, but their pastries and food is amazing. Thank you for existing in a weird corner of Boulder E’s European Bakery!

I’ve relished this coffee shop /bakery for years. The quality of home-made pasteries and baked goods is phenomenal. Order an expresso, and the owner will usually step in and do it herself as she seems to relish making sure that you get the best possible product and service possible. I love taking friends and clients to Erhard’s!

I am a huge fan of the place! The atmosphere is great, the owners(husband and wife) are friendly. Favorites on the menu: –Polish sausage. Yes, it takes a while for them to make it. Yes, it is worth it. It is juicy and pops just right when you bite into it. It’s served with their bread, little pickles, tomatoes, cucumbers, mustard. –Soups. They change, but are always homemade and tasty. –Chicken salad croissant sandwich. So fresh! The croissant is super flaky. Now to the sweets: –hamentaschen — a buttery pastry. I like apricot –strudel –raspberry tarts –chocolate mousse cake thingy(can’t remember what it’s called. It is still delicious) Really, you could show up, close your eyes, and point randomly. It’s that good.

Tasty peach tart and my picky wife gave the croissant a thumbs up. Strudels look awesome, but I didn’t try one. Next time.

It’s the integrity of the ingredients, a friend once told me, explaining what makes a dish so tasty. Walking into Erhard’s you can feel the integrity of the business. It’s German influenced, or so the accent of the owners would convey. I popped in for some lunch, and luckily had cash on me(cash only). I inquired about the soup of the day. Pasta and bean. Pass. But the very attentive attendant insisted it was delicious and that I try it first – it was one of her favorites. She was right. The broth had such great flavor – the perfect amount of seasoning. I ordered it with a half sandwich, and simply had to try a bakery item. German chocolate cheesecake with raspberry filling. That deserved an entire line to itself. It melted in my mouth. The cheesecake was as soft as mousse and it had a chocolate lady finger base – everything dipped in dark chocolate. Such a treat.
