We’ve been taking our now 9-year-old son here for about a year. He has had a lot of anxiety and rigidity, and counseling here has helped a lot. His anxiety has diminished greatly, and he’s more flexible in many ways. He’s also become more aware of his body and his emotions and is better able to regulate himself. The approach here is «play therapy», which I don’t understand very well, but it is a way for children to express their worries and concerns through games and role-playing of various sorts. Our son always enjoys his sessions. The practice here is based on neuro-science rather than behavioral science, but it’s a very practical approach and the counselor always offers lots of specific actions parents can take, and things to do today. No matter what specific problem we bring her, she always has a way to attack it. The approach is based partly on Siegel and Bryson’s book«The Whole Brain Child», which she recommends to her clients.
