It pains me to give Julia’s a 3-star review, especially because Julia’s vegan/gluten-free food philosophy is one that I personally ascribe to. I’ll explain: I have experienced both excellent and sub-par meals at Julia’s Kitchen. The inconsistency aspect is something I’d really like to overlook, but it is always hit or miss. The good meals are above and beyond good, and the bad meals are anywhere from dry to bland to unpalatable. One week, I ordered a wrap that was exquisite with a large side salad — it was perfect. Great wrap, hearty filling, fresh vegetables. The next week, I ordered the same thing, but that time — I was left with a wrap that was falling apart, filled with what looked like crushed quiche filling, and a limp, tiny side salad. It must be different cooks or something, because it was so different from week to week. Pros: 1. I LOVE that the entire restaurant is vegan and gluten-free. It makes it so easy to eat here with food allergies AND an ethical bent. I’m grateful Julia’s Kitchen exists from that standpoint alone. 2. Housemade dressings and tons of raw options.(I recommend the raw tiramisu!) 3. A focus on soulful world-cuisine and creative influences. 4. Eco-friendly! Reusable napkins rock!(And lower carbon footprint from being all-vegan.) Cons: 1. Food safety. The woman at the front who was handling paper money was not using gloves as she handled the baked goods at the same time. We will not be purchasing the bread loaves again after seeing that happen. 2. General safety. While waiting for our food, someone opened one of the refrigerators by the counter and a glass bottle fell and shattered on the ground. Instead of sweeping up the glass, someone from the kitchen ran out and placed a plastic sign over the broken bottle. During our long wait for food, the broken bottle was not cleaned up and two children nearly stepped on the broken pieces by the counter. 3. Timing. It took 45 minutes for a wrap and a tiny plate of pancakes to come out of the kitchen. For a restaurant that wasn’t busy at the time of day that we were visiting, that seemed like an extraordinarily long amount of time to wait. 4. Dirty tables. Many of the tables are not wiped down properly. Having spent a lot of time waitressing in my earlier years, it’s really off-putting to see remnants of others’ meals still smeared on the tables. Attention to little details like that would be beneficial. Neutral: I do not mind the prices. I think they are suitable for the quality of ingredients that are promised. Bottom line: My friends and I want to like Julia’s so much. It has the potential to be a really fabulous nook within Boulder. I want to believe we were there during unusual days, but the inconsistency aspect has happened a handful of times. I’d love to see Julia’s make some changes with consistency and cleanliness.

I am not vegan but the food was delicious! I tried the quiche and my husband tried the«sausage» pizza and the buckwheat pancake, and they were all very tasty. The environment is very friendly, but my favorite were the Adaba bars — they taste great while being such a healthy snack!

I wish eating at any restaurant could be this healthy AND this enjoyable. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate us and answer all our questions, all while being very friendly! We enjoyed the atmosphere as we chatted, and appreciated the little touches like real-food-themed décor and cloth napkins. The menu is affordable with lots of small tasting options which is something I particularly enjoy. The flavor blew me away in every dish. My initial reaction looking at each offering was a bit confused, because I am not at all accustomed to the ingredients and recipes they were using — but one bite explained everything. The ingredients came together in an unexpected balance that was in a word: delicious. Plus all of it was really healthy. The chef was truly an artisan of flavor. The golden smoothie was divine and more filling than I expected, definitely ordering that again next time. It could probably be a lunch by itself. I could eat their raw pizza all day… my date and I kind of did. Ordered 3 rounds(And I didn’t wish it had dairy cheese. It was perfect as it was.) The veggie burger and the salad that came with it were just as delightful in their balance of flavor — no ketchup required. Finished off with a few«one bite» chocolate chip cookies(they were each a few bites… and after I ordered one I had to get a couple more!) Subtly sweet and just right. I am glad this is situated right next to the Earth Guardians office and Lucky’s market(which has some organic options)…because next time I visit either one I will have an excuse to eat here again! P. S. I am an omnivore. I eat meat but I did not miss animal products for one moment while I was dining here. They prove you don’t need them to make delicious, filling meals.

Ridiculously amazing. We were just passing though on our book tour and usually have to scour the Internet for anything edible. This was such a quick and easy find. The staff was so warm and welcoming, the menu was the perfect size, everything tasted like a dream. We came back for lunch and tried to talk them into opening at 5am so we could stop by for breakfast before we leave Boulder. Tried the buckwheat pancakes, raw pizza, hummus pizza, lemon veggie steam, veggie burger, choc chip cookie, cashew cream cheese, raw peppermint drop, golden smoothie… It’s been a big two days. Everything was incredible. I am forever obsessed.

It was my first visit the other day! Great interior, nice staff, cozy. I think it would be a great place to hang during the winter. Too bad I don’t live on this side of town… I’m not a vegan by the way, not even a vegetarian, but often eat as such. I was happily entertained(in a foodie sort of way) by the menu, interesting things to order. If you’re at least open minded, you’ll be pleased! I plan to stop by when I pass through that part of town, you should too.

I recently moved to Boulder and a vegan friend recommended this place to me. The first time I tried it, I went back the next 4 days in a row! Yes, it is a bit pricey but at least there is a reason behind it, that being high quality, organic, «real food» ingredients. Everything is organic, vegan, gluten-free, and made in-house. I also appreciate that they add a little side salad to the entrees with wonderfully tasty greens and beets. And, I think I’m addicted to the salad dressing. It is so flavor packed your taste buds will be dancing, I assure you. Lastly, in an age when so many establishments merely talk about their green practices, I appreciate that Julia appears to be limiting her footprint… there are even cloth napkins in the bathroom. I guess the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is due to the high prices. Nevertheless, give Julia’s Kitchen a try, your body and soul will thank you!

Over priced, flavorless, raw and/or vegan food. The raw pizza was like eating dry communion with some sauce and somehow it became a pizza. I had a sample of other items and was disappointed. I can’t even remember the other items I had. Was very excited to try a place with raw options, but very disappointed when I finally got the opportunity.
