Maggie Evans Designs

I went to visit Maggie after visiting all different kinds of bridal stores in New York and Denver. I was looking for something less traditional (no cupcake!). Maggie sells the cicada bridal line, which is very much my style, as well as a few of her own creations and can make just about anything you can dream up. I fell in love with her creations. She uses little touches that make each dress unique — vintage flower pieces, beautiful sashes, etc.
I found a dress I LOVE LOVE. I just wasn’t sure I could bring myself to spend ~$ 1500 on a dress I will wear once so I needed to sleep on it. Maggie was super awesome about the whole thing, let me try everything on, over and over.
Just a note that Maggie’s studio is not a box store. No fancy bling, no ladies in waiting. If you want someone who will hold the dress while you step into it and let you stand in it under a fancy chandelier, this is not the place. That said, I have been to the fancy places (Pronovias), and they charge the same prices (or more) for dresses made from scratchy synthetic material. Maggie is a self identified «fabric snob,» and everything she sold was top quality, many, if not all, in silk.

Maggie made my dress dreams come true! I purchased a gorgeous Nicole Miller wedding gown but decided I wanted it a little more full at the bottom and taken in at the top. She did an amazing job making the dress look exactly how I wanted. She also added a bustle and you couldn’t tell the dress had been altered at all. Maggie has a calming sense about her which what such a relief in all the craze of wedding planning. She was a pleasure to work with, affordable and I recommend her to anyone!

Maggie was able to make the wedding dress «in my imagination» on a budget I could afford. I was nervous that all the time and personalized attention she put into my dress and my numerous fittings was going to cost more than I could afford. But she suggested alterations that were both figure-​flattering and easy on the wallet. I would most definitely direct any nervous and cost-​conscious bride to Maggie!
