This is my favorite place to watch a Packers game! Rocky Flats is a true Wisconsin dive bar. The Friday night fish fry is great. I have only had the perch.($ 18) The Bloody Mary is decent as well. That says a lot from a wisco girl!

Only been there on Friday. Some of the best fish fry I’ve had, though its only on Fridays. Fish is always golden brown — they must stay on top of changing out the fryer oil. Fries are the more natural, oily type — some folks like that type, others don’t. I do. Healthy portions. This is the epitome ‘hole in the wall’, where it’s a bit low rent and small, but darn good food.

this is the only sports bar i go to or, probably, will ever go to on a more-than-once-because-emergency-of-some-kind basis. is it divey? well, yes, in the best sense of that word. these folks will treat you like a local as long as you act like one, and i mean that consideredly: if you dish out ‘tude, you’re going to get it handed right back to you, while the rest of us snicker at your entitlement and concomitant discomfiture. if you act like a normal, well-adjusted humanzee, you’re gonna be treated like you’ve been going there twice a week all your adult life. this general mode of customer relations, the unpretentious jukebox, and the ostentatious Packers memorabilia everywhere one looks, keeps it largely, as someone else mentioned, Boulder-flake-free. blissfully, oh, how blissfully. there is a menu consisting of the most time-honored bar-food standards imaginable. and really, for Fried Things Intended To Soak Up Alcohol, they’re good, and they deliver plenty on a plate: no delicately arranged, nibbley-bit boutique-style elvenfoods here.(i am partial to the mushrooms, which are reliably delicious.) i have not experienced the fabled fish fry, but i intend to based on the favorable reports of many wisconsinites here on this very reviews page. there is a fairly capacious patio, mostly covered against random episodes of weather, if patios are a thing for you, as they are for me. stop by if you like a down-to-earth bar where you won’t feel like you’re intruding on the bartender’s time.

My wife is from Wisconsin and has high expectations when it comes to a fish fry. The fish was ok(walleye) however, the french fries wereq awful. They first came out burned, second batch undercooked and soggie. Something didn’t taste right with the cooking oil. Cheese curds were good. Total bill came to just under $ 40. Felt like meal should haveq been $ 10/plate due to the quality. We will not be going back. Staff was friendly, but can’t make up for the meal.

This may very well be the finest drinking establishment between Golden and Boulder. Hell, it might be the only. The jewel of the old nuclear zone, Rocky Flats provides the type of ambience that you just can’t find at those bars that are, «new», «trendy», or «up to health code.» What places it head and shoulders above the rest is its coupling of low priced/potent drinks with the client base that can not be matched. Whether it is 8 in the morning or closing time you can always find wry wit, and informed converstaion with any of the regulars — but not during Packers football. Rather than spend paragraphs singing the praises of this dumpy bar — I will say only this; it passes every critical test of a true dive bar. Behold — 1. No windows — so as the judmental eyes of the outside world can’t shame you. 2 Odd odors everywhere. 3. A regular patron who wears a train conductor’s hat, but has never conducted a train. 4. Bizarre and dusty memorabila on the walls. 5. Deranged locals wandering in and out frequently enough to scare off the«hip» crowd 6. Knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. 7. Cheap televisions. 8. Hard looks to folks who order drinks with more than two ingredients.

Although this place is fun and absolutely a beautiful location check your history, you don’t want to stay too long. It sits on or near old nuclear plutonium testing grounds from the 1950’s-1960’s…thanks to our«wise» leaders of that time.

Small town vibe in a bar that’s not that far from the city. Cheap drinks and a fireplace. seriously, what the heck else do you want from a place with a gravel parking lot? Every Friday night is the famous«Fish Fry». ONLY on Friday. make a point to come and check the place out. A Denver treasure for sure.

This place is a Sh** hole. Worst experience I have ever had. I stopped here on my way home from Boulder with my husband. We had a couple beers and were trying to chat with the bar tender. An employee who identified himself as «George» was extraordinarily rude. He looked like a Justin Beiber look a like with an even more offensive lesbian haircut. We asked for another round of drinks and he stood in front of the TV and completely ignored us. He was more interested in taking shots with his other bartender employees than giving any type of service at all. I had to ask for our tab 3 times. The final time, after 15 minutes of waiting he snapped back saying… «I’m getting it!» Then he gave us our tab and said… «Don’t bother leaving a tip because I am not going to accept it.» Wow!!! I heard him call me a B**** to the other employees. As someone in the service industry I was appalled. It’s people like this that give our industry such a bad rep and no respect. Don’t waste your money or your time. If I could give a negative star I would!

Straight out of the Midwest — planted firmly between Boulder and Golden. It’s a safe distance from either — meaning there is usually a seat at the bar and the regulars are more likely to know how to run a frontend loader than an iphone… and that’s a good thing! Great atmosphere. Perfect for an afternoon pint. The food is mediocre — but are you really going there for the food, are you? Never been for the fish fry or a Packer’s game but I’m sure it’s a hoot. Oh yeah that reminds me — RFL is Packers’ territory. I’m sure the local crowd supports the Broncos but don’t expect to see any photos of Tebow hanging over the bar. Overall, its a pleasant reprieve from the Boulder scene. Most of the whiney Boulderites that give it a try take one look around and head back to the Bubble(of course that clearly doesn’t stop them from Unilocaling about their experience).

GREAT dive bar in the middle of nowhere. Though I probably appreciate it more than most because it is a «Packers bar» with a bunch of Green Bay and Wisconsin garb. Felt right at home! And I think we were the only Wisconsinites there. Friendly staff, cheap beers, bar food that is terribly unhealthy for you(including Rocky Mountain Oysters). If you can’t handle dives though, you probably should avoid this place.

First things first, this is a dive bar of dive bars! Don’t expect anything high class when you enter this joint. I’m a Wisco girl and this place is a little piece of home. They feature fish frys and brat frys, Leinie’s on tap and tons of Packer memorabilia. They play every single Packer game every week. If you’re a fan, it’s a must-go. You may be surprised to find out how many Packer fans there are in the area! The playoff games were nutso last year, so get there early! The place was packed almost immediately. They had tons of yummy food available on the back patio too. On a non-game day, the joint is very neighborhood-esque. They have two bar-sized pool tables, a great jukebox, and easy-going service. Easy-going to say that I’ve never had bad service here, but a lot of times there will only be one bartender on duty and he or she may be outside or in the back cleaning and what-not. On a side note, not the best cheese curds I have ever had(go to Culver’s in Thornton or Loveland for those!), but it’s still nice to see them on the menu. All in all I love this place. I drive down from Longmont just to visit.

Let me first say that I have never been here for a Packer’s game or the Friday fish fry. Perhaps that’s my problem with this place, but I don’t think so. I have been here for lunch — once. The food was already prepared and just heated up. How do I know? I complained it wasn’t hot enough, so my server/bartender/cook apologized and said he would go put it back in the microwave for a bit longer. This is the type of bar that no smoking bans actually hurt — it needs something to cover the prior years of stale beer and smoking. Let’s get back to those Packer games. As I said, I have never been to one here. After eating here, I wonder why anyone would want to watch a game here. The TVs — all of them — were purchased when Rocky Flats was still making bombs. Only the one above the bar was on, but you can just imagine the green tint that all the others had. Holy wood grain, these TVs are OLD! I can’t imagine the atmosphere could ever make this fun enough to watch a game here. I’m sorry, but this place has some bad food, bad TVs and bad attitude.

The drinks sucked and I gave the bartender a twenty for a $ 3 drink. She gave me $ 5 back and then argued relentlessly that she didn’t rip me off. After awhile I realized it was futile; losing my $ 15 to a thief was better than sitting around for an hour arguing with said thief. Even so, I’m being honest when I say that barring being totally ripped off, the bar sucked right out loud on its very own. Dark, dank, located on the site of a former nuclear power plant — this place blows. The bathroom made me want to bathe in a tub of bleach. That $ 20 drink with well vodka was downright unimpressive. Is it really so hard to make a vodka cranberry? Apparently so.

Went there for Packer game. I’d say about 75 Packer fans showed up. They were also showing the Lion’s game for the bartender from East Lansing. There was Wisconsin and Green Bay memorabilia on the walls. Everything about this place reminded me of some dive bar in northern Wisconsin, down to the bearded, beer-bellied, flannel wearing, slightly burnt-out-from-the1970’s look. Overall the game day atmosphere is pretty good. There was a grill on the semi covered patio serving brats, burgers, fries and cheese curds. Not great, not bad, solid bar food. The service was pretty good. You have to go up to the bar(or out to the grill) to order.

A Wisconsin fish fry means they’re serving up Walleye & Perch caught and flash-frozen from the Great Lakes, and it tastes every bit as good as any I’ve ever had growing up in Michigan. So, to have found this place out in the middle of Colorado… is a godsend. Plus, they have crocheted beer cozies for sale behind the bar. How can you beat that?

I went to watch a packer game. If u r privileged enough to know what a Wisconsin fish fry is, love a good brat fry, and secretly still love Brett farve(but deny it) you must go. Like walking into a rhinelander bar and watching a game in someones garage at the same time. I imagine people flocking via snow mobile in the winter. Beautiful.

I usually feel like I have a breadth of culinary experience and knowledge, but what the hell is a Wisconsin fish fry? Well, no matter, since really I only stopped in with friends for a $ 9 Miller Lite pitcher after a day of hiking in El Dorado Canyon. Great bartender, absolutely entertaining to find such a strong Packers prescence randomly located on the road back to Denver. If you go outside, it’s dog friendly and boasts gorgeous sweeping views of the flatirons. Great selection of chips and snacks, but I can’t comment on the bar food. Amiable, attentive bartender(not a Packers fan!). Bike friendly, dog friendly, people friendly… but it probably won’t end well for you if you’re a fish.

Another 1st on my Unilocal belt, yay! Visit this place if a) you love to drink, b) you love fried fish & fries, c) you own a fatboy, d) you love brett favre &/or the packers, or e) you wonder what’d it be like to get wasted on a nuclear site. on friday evenings, come early if you want to get a load of the fish fry(wisconsin style, whatever that means.) there’s an internet jukebox, pool tables, outdoor seating — with heaters for the cold seasons, and a lovely view of the flatirons from out back. and during football season, you can bet there’s a rowdy crowd rooting on the packers. i’m just assuming this, considering there are a few TVs & tons of packer-phanelia.
