Rocky Mountain Riding Therapy

I have a friend who is quite fond of volunteering here so I decided to visit the facility for a volunteer information session. The volunteer info facilitator was very friendly and passionate about her work, which I thought was great.
It was amazing to learn about the different therapy horses (you can read their profiles online) as well as the therapy conducted (the facility works with children and adults with a variety of physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities, providing therapy and recreation opportunities using horses and horsemanship).
If you have time in your schedule, enjoy working with children or horses, definitely look into volunteering at this awesome facility.
Word to the wise: The volunteer information session may be hands on, so definitely don’t wear your Sunday best and be sure to bring closed toe footwear.
Update, 07.16.14: I cannot express how much volunteering here has positively impacted me. I have so greatly enjoyed working with the horses and seeing the growth and improvement in all of the children. It is so remarkable how understanding and encouraging the staff and horses are. I highly recommend supporting this facility in any way that you can.
