I want to begin this review by admitting that I have walked by this pool quite frequently over the past 3 years and am a bit ashamed that it took me this long to check it out. My friend recently informed me that the Splash Pass(pass that allows you to visit this pool, Scoot Carpenter Pool, and the Boulder Reservoir) was half-off for the remainder of the season(for both residents and non-residents alike) — so I scooped one right up. Yesterday I decided, hey maybe it’s time to finally get in there and do a few laps. The location was easy to get to however I noted that if I had drove the parking lot was a bit on the small side. The welcome desk had a warm and welcoming young adult present who was happy to answer my questions as well as look up my Splash Pass(the pass itself is virtual — so no pesky card to keep track of). After checking in I entered the pool area and was extremely pleased to see that there were kick boards that I could use and a couple of lanes were completely free and open(at my previous gym we were often 2, sometimes 3 per lane which I found to be very stressful). This led me to be very relaxed and excited to just take my time and explore the pool. The pool temperature was appropriate(neither cold nor hot) and it was reasonably clean(just a few bits of sand on the bottom — at my last gym there were often band-aids and hair ties which grossed me out quite a bit). The environment was welcoming. There were people(adults and kiddos) present but it did not have a crowded feel at all. There were open chairs peppering the grassy area as well as a few picnic tables in the shade. There was also an additional pool where most of the children were hanging out and playing. I honestly just had the best time doing my laps in such a relaxed environment, followed by some quiet reading in the sunshine. I will most definitely be back soon.
