Riley’s Carpet and Flooring

I’ve been debating to write this review because I don’t like to be negative but every time I look at my poorly stained wood floors my blood boils. I had Kay Riley & Sons sand and stain my wood floors. I paid $ 5800 and it’s money down the drain. The best word to describe my floors is SLOPPY. They look terrible and I’m disgusted by the craftsmanship. The stain that they used was a «high grade» stain that I paid extra for. In some places the stain did not take well to the wood. I understand that stain does not always work the way you want it to with older wood, but I also had some new wood laid in my hallway and the opening to my kitchen and that wood also looks terrible. My floors have circular marks where you can see where they used a rag to apply the stain. There are also smudge marks. I had the president come and look at it (he was very kind) and he said there was basically nothing they could do because it may happen again. I have gone into a number of homes where they have had their floors re-​stained and I do not see smudge marks, circular marks nor sloppy craftsmanship. The person who stained my floors came and took some moldings and re-​stained those pieces because you could see parts of the old stain underneath. Whats frustrating is that he didn’t bring back all the pieces and he no longer works for the company and will not return my phone calls so I have to have some new moldings made. What saddens me is that I had a great experience with my sales rep. She was fantastic. Even the president of the company was good to work with. I had them lay carpet in my home and I was very pleased, but after this experience with my wood floors (which were stained after my carpet was laid) I unfortunately will never go back to them. Every time I look at my floors its just a reminder of how much money was wasted and the poor craftsmanship. The ONLY good thing about this situation is that the person who stained my floors no longer works for the company which is good for Kay Riley. The only reason I’m giving them 2 stars instead of 1 is because they did a good job with my carpet.

We had Kay Riley and Sons install carpet and laminate in our house. I was very impressed with their location (clean, modern, good layout), customer service, and pricing. The employees in the store let us take our time browsing the flooring and gave us good feedback. Both installers showed up on time and completed the job in a timely manner. They were clean cut and friendly and I didn’t mind having either in my house.
