Chuckanut Cabins

LOVED this place. Yes, it’s rustic, and yes, there are trains, as described EVERYWHERE on their site, on the check-​in info, and when you call to make reservations. It’s really not that bad. I found the bicyclists on Saturday and Sunday morning far more annoying than the trains!
Sweet little place, perfect for a romantic getaway. We arrived on Friday afternoon with enough provisions to keep us holed up through the weekend, but we definitely didn’t need to bother with breakfast… holy food! They provided us with a ton of pastries, cereals, muffins, jam, juice, milk, cream for coffee… we were pretty sure that all this stuff was supposed to last us for both mornings, but when we got back on Saturday afternoon after an unplanned outing, lo and behold they not only tidied up, but brought MORE food! (Side note… make sure your *ahem* unmentionables are put away… we didn’t know they’d be coming in to tidy up and left some stuff out we probably shouldn’t have… oopsie…). AND they did our dinner dishes from Friday night too, including a lasagna pan I’d brought from home. Wonderful service!
The only issue we had was the bed… it’s a mattress on a low platform, which we probably could have lived with, but it’s only a full-​sized mattress… pret-​ty cozy, even for peeps like us who sleep all wound up together anyhow. Not terribly comfy, and a little on the hard side, but for the rest of the atmosphere, I could live with it.
Shower was awesome, view was just spectacular, and the private deck out back P E R F E C T. We will definitely be back, again and again.

Simple cabin in great location with lovely water view. We were warned about the trains passing and it didn’t bother us. Cabin has good strong shower, comfy bed (although it’s a small queen size), and they put a little coffee and breakfast there for us. It is basic, and priced right for what you get. We appreciated it and will be back.

We stayed at the Bayhouse cabin on scenic Chuckanut drive in the Skagit Valley of Wa. It is a basic cabin on the main road with a nice view of the sound and mountains. The location is great and there were nice touches in the house. Some snacks and breakfast foods were provided. It is not a luxury cabin, but serves its purpose. Unfortunately, we had to check out early and only stayed one of our 2 nights because of train noise. The train runs right in front of the house, very close, maybe 100ft away. The large trains ran every 30 min all night long which kept us awake and rumbled the house. They even blew whistles. We got no sleep and were exhausted. The owners say this is not the usual frequency of trains, but I would not take the chance again. So, for that reason, I would not stay here again or recommend it.
