Only Nails

I’ve been going to Only Nails for at least 7 years. The owners John and Holly are always pleasant and accommodating. They know my voice when I call. The strip they are in needs a face lift and they are next door to a seafood place (even better for crabs) but the outward appearance has no bearing on the service you’ll receive. I’ve been to other nail salons on occasion but I always return to Only Nails.
I’ve never heard anyone complaining there and I haven’t heard anything bad about cleanliness. I’ve never had an infection or concern from their tools. They could use a few upgrades to the pedicure chairs but I’m sure that will come in due time.
So check them out. Ask for Holly or Annie and during the warmer months make an appointment.

I haven’t patronized a lot of nail salons and I’m a guy, so you might want to make a mental adjustment for that. I have been there several times and have never had a bad experience. I’ve had pedicures from several different people; all of them were pleasant and professional. I thought Annie and Susan were especially good.
I especially appreciated that the salon does not have the overpowering scent of acetone that some others have. Perhaps that varies with how many customers are in the shop.
The owners/​operators are Vietnamese, so with my hearing loss I sometimes have trouble understanding everything, but we muddle through.
I usually call ahead for appointment (that’s the way to avoid an hour wait), but the one time I walked in I had to wait no more than minutes. It really shouldn’t surprise anyone that if you walk in you might have to wait.
I can’t address how they apply nail polish, etc., but for a pedicure or a basic manicure they are highly recommended.
The shop is in a small shopping center. I’ve never had a problem with finding a parking spot.

This salon is consistently great. Susan does the best nails in Bowie.

Do NOT let the outside fool you! My mom and I met in Bowie (the midpoint for both of us) and decided to indulge in a pedicure. Not knowing the area that well, and checking out Unilocal,we phoned a friend who recommended Only Nails.
The parking lot was small, the signage old, the building VERY old … and it smelled like crabs (yay for seafood next door!). But when we walked in, it was like being in another world. Clean, nice smelling, bright and inviting.
We opted for a spa pedi because the price was right ($ 35) and they did a great job. They were fast, friendly and paid attention when I told them not to rub my heel.
Highly recommend this seemingly sketchy hole in the wall.
