Root Canal. The very utterance of the term is enough to inspire fear in almost anyone. But I’ve actually had two, both by Dr. Orgel in the Silver Spring office and he along with all the assistants and the front desk staff were wonderful. They ran my insurance information before the procedure so I’d know exactly what my cost would be going in. This is a GREATPRACTICE and leads to a collaborative, rather than adversarial relationship between patient and care giver. I came in for one, I came back for another. I can’t really give a higher endorsement than that, though I would if I could. GREATWORK! THANKYOU! They also may let me DJ one of their office parties… just sayin.

I just had a root canal by Dr Taylor and as other reviewers have noted the experience was surprisingly pleasant. Dr Taylor and his assistant did everything they could to make me feel comfortable and minimize any discomfort one might feel getting a root canal. The Silver Spring office is in a great location with lots of parking and the office was modern and well kept. I would highly recommend this practice.

I HATE going to the dentist with all my heart, and I was particularly terrified by the prospect of getting a root canal from a specialist today. However, Dr. Taylor and his assistant were so good that I was literally drafting my Unilocal review in my head as he painlessly drilled into my tooth. These folks are caring, thoughtful, professional, and they get you out of there quickly. I jokingly asked if they had a Groupon because the root canal procedure is so expensive, and they took 10% off the cost because I was willing to pay in full. I highly recommend these folks.

I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Taylor and his staff. This was my second visit to Dr. Taylor for a root canal(first one was in 2008 at the Silver Spring location). Prior to my visit, I had seen two general dentists due to excruciating pain but neither were able to affirmatively state I needed a root canal. I visited Dr. Taylor for what I thought would be a diagnostic visit but he was able to quickly look at the x-ray and determine I needed a root canal(he even showed me the area of infection on the xray when I questioned why the other two dentists were unsure). For my previous root canal in 2008, I went to sleep because I have a very low pain threshold and was terrified since I had heard several stories about the horrors of root canals. So when he told me he could perform the root canal in the same visit, I specifically asked for sedation medication. He told me it was not necessary and promised the local anesthetic would suffice. I was extremely hesitant so asked again for sedation and he promised me that it wasn’t necessary for this particular tooth and again assured me that I would not feel anything. I was still super nervous but decided to let him proceed without sedation. He kept reassuring me it would be painless and his assistant did the same. Well, I am extremely happy to report that the procedure was in fact painless as promised. Dr. Taylor could have easily given me the sedation and made extra money(its 400 bucks and not covered by insurance), but he was honest in saying it was not necessary for this particular tooth and that this was a straight forward root canal procedure. The whole thing was done in less than twenty minutes and with absolutely no pain. Even the injection of the local anesthetic was not bothersome. He explained when I would feel vibration or hear drilling throughout the procedure. Him and his assistant repeatedly asked if I was okay and made sure I was comfortable. I definitely recommend Dr. Taylor and think he is absolutely the best. His front desk was also friendly. Nobody wants to have a root canal but if you need one this is the place to go.
