A Taste of Europe

I took my son here after a Friday morning round of golf a couple weeks ago. There was no one else in the place when we arrived that I remember except the owner (I assume) and his daughter (?)/​the waitress sitting at a back table with a third person who I don’t remember noticing again.
The place was clean. Nice artwork on the walls. Small and cozy I’d say. What got me though was that about 5 minutes after we sat down, two other guests walked in and sat a few booths behind us. I probably wouldn’t have noticed except after waiting what seemed like far too long for our drinks — very hot day, just got off the course, a total of 4 patrons in the place — I turned around to look for the waitress and noticed the group that had entered after us had already received their drinks. Huh?
It seems to me it took longer than I’d have imagined it would for our food to come out, but I ordered a gyro platter which was good. My son ordered his standard chicken nuggets and fries but I couldn’t believe it when they served him the dinosaur shaped nuggets! I know that 99% of the chicken strips/​nuggets served at restaurants are just pulled out of the freezer same as these but man, that struck me as very tacky.
The brontosaurus nugget and lackadaisical service earned this place 2 stars in my book. Almost 1 but my food was good enough. Not great, just good.

Great moussaka platter! The food tastes fresh and homemade. And the pitas are oh-​so-​soft. I always stop by here when I’m in BG.

I agree with Teri Y. If you’re looking for something fancy, you may be disappointed, but the food is pretty good here, and the prices are reasonable. The service is S-​L-​O-​W, and I was the only guy in the joint. I kept thinking, «Is someone going to see that I’m done with my meal and need the check?» But I guess they respect your sense of personal privacy. That may be a more European kind of sensibility in how they don’t rush you out. I was enjoying my beer and my quiet reverie, and they didn’t want to disturb me unless I made eye contact with them like I wanted something. The moussaka was great, baklava was great, and everything looked appetizing. This part of the town is so sleepy at night. I enjoyed finding this place open.

Great Mediterranean food at a good price. The gyros are delicious.
