This is the best drag race track I have been too other a big NHRA track. I consider this one as a local track. They advertise free parking but there is an admission charge. You pull up to big entrance and pay. Then you can park where ever you want. They give you a schedule at the entrance. Now looking at it, it seems they have something going on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. They also even have events going on sometimes during the week days. They are open April to November for racing and other events. So they are closed December, January, February, and March which are the Winter months. I wished this track was closer to me because I would be a regular. One feature I really liked is that they have bleachers with roof tops. So you don’t have to sit out in the hot sun. You can see these roofs in the pictures I took. As a matter of fact, there are bleachers on both sides of the track. So you can choose either side.

Hillbilly heaven in essence. So me being the big city slicker decided to take a road trip to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Most would ask… why? I was headed to the racetrack/dragstrip for the Holley LS Fest. Not important mostly cause I don’t wanna explain what the event is. What I did come to learn is whoever owns this estate is onto something. You drive in is pleasant and the grounds are nicely manicured. There is a nice timber fence that surrounds and actually provides a nice façade. But then thinking that it would only be a dragstrip Im surprised by the fact that there’s a legit amusement park with rides I’ve never seen before and a water park. All more affordable than any trip you would take to any Six Flags. I liked that there wasn’t a huge asphalt jungle parking lot. You basically park in the grass so even if you bbq in the parking lot it’s still like a «picnic.» The dragstrip has a quarter mile and an oval track good for laps and drifting events. Props to the owners for having awnings for shade over the bleacher and general seating areas. I’ve never been to a track where that was provided. Beech Bend has yet to shun the coveted beer cooler so Kentucky patrons were keeping hydrated in the sun like so. If I would of had time to actually frequent the rides and water park I would of hands down gave BB five stars. It’s tucked away in the same place where the Corvette is manufactured and it’s a definite I’m gonna pack a grill, cooler, couple females and head back for a weekend.

So I broke down and re-visited, but this time I stuck to the amusement park and water park. For the money you get what you paid for, although the lack of lines for the rides and the not to crowded water park are a lot better than some of the big name parks to the north. A lot of the rides appear to be collected from the same companies that provide rides for county/state parks, but seem safer since they are permanent. There also bigger rides, including the wooden roller coaster. Overall a MUCH better experience than my last one.
