My kiddo has a peanut allergy and the staff as always been friendly and accommodating by getting her ice cream from a new batch with a fresh scooper to prevent cross-contamination… Without me even asking! The burgers are fantastic as well! It’s our favorite local spot!!!

Ice Cream is incredible. Plenty of unique and creative flavors to choose from and friendly employees. Burgers, sandwiches, and other non-dairy items are good but not great. I have had a burger and a grilled ham and cheese both were good. My wife had the grilled turkey and loved it. Really, it is the ice-cream that drives this place. The atmosphere is comfortable. There is lots of seating and even a playground out back for the kids. We stopped one afternoon on a warm day. We were able to sit and relax on the back porch while the kids played on the playground. It was a very peaceful and comfortable experience. Other times we just stopped for the ice-cream. Overall, this is not the best ice-cream place I have ever been, but it is good enough that we will definitely stop when we are passing through Bowling Green, KY. We also take friends and family when we are near. Worth the trip.

Great ice cream. The potato soup was also very good.(ask for extra cheese on the soup) the atmosphere was simply fantastic when I went there were lots of families with kids, a group of ladies playing cards, & an assortment of travelers in the dining area. The staff was young & unusually helpful for youngsters. Did I mention the ice cream was fantastic? There was plenty of made in Kentucky items for sale and a neat play area for children. I think I heard that they give tours of the barn as well. And don’t forget that the ice cream is delicious.

Having been an occasional regular customer for years, I find that CHANEY’S is constantly expanding & «quality food» is slipping. Today was the ultimate«SLIP,» was that their EXCELLENT ice cream, was not totally frozen. However, we will continue to frequent CHANEY’S for their ICECREAM.

Yes… yes…YES! I was waiting all day to get some good ice cream and this place did not disappoint!!! Homemade, fresh, creamy and cheap for the size that you get. A nice seating area on the back porch that looks out over the fields. There is also a playground out back for the kids.

This place was a lot of fun. My kids loved the jumping pillow and playground. The ice cream was good and reasonably priced. The other food(we had lunch) was really overpriced and just okay.

As I stepped into this place the smell of awesome hit me. Pinky’s down and dig into the home made amazing food! The place is decorated like a classic country dairy store. It so cute! The food was great and the ice cream was off the charts!

We came for Ag Night, which was unexpectedly cancelled. That was a let down, and, unfortunately, so was the food. The fries were tasty, but my pimento cheese sandwich was unpalatable, the chicken nuggets were garden variety seemingly frozen and fried, and the burgers were fine — nothing special. What saved this place from a 2 star review was the staff(friendly, efficient, welcoming), the excellent outdoor play area for kids, and the ice cream. It’s excellent. I tasted the cookies and cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, and the WKU flavor — Big Red something: white chocolate ice cream, red velvet cake, and chocolate chunks. Recommend them all and the prices were very reasonable. I’ll be back for dessert(only) next time.

Sister and I stopped by for soup and sandwich. Potato soup, grilled ham and cheese sandwich, Chaney’s own milk to drink and of course end with a scoop of Chaney’s ice cream. Clean, Courteous, Fun place to be. Chaney’s offers a lot more than lunch. Bring the children to play out back after lunch on their one of a kind playset. If you haven’t took their tour it’s a Must! Take a hayride to the farm. Meet the calves, learn about the dairy farm and Milk a Cow! Educational and Fun! In season is the corn maze and Moovies on the side of the barn. Chaney’s also sells their milk, ice cream and other local favorites in their gift shop. Great Country Fun!

This place was nice in the winter, but in the summer, it must be near heaven. It was attractive, clean, and reasonably priced, but the employees seemed a little too interested in each other than wanting to be attentive to customers. In the summer, though, I want my boys to try out those huge slides.

What a great place! This isn’t your typical dairy barn. The store is full of locally made items and shows the rural and small business support within the Bowling Green community. The burger was one of the best I’ve ever had and the Apple Pie ice cream blew my mind. The ice cream selection is one of a kind — there were so many choices it was hard to choose! We sampled almost every option! The ice cream is made from their cow’s milk. Doesn’t get much better than Chaney’s! We were told in the summer they have a lot of activities going on so be sure to check that out if you visit during the summer months.

We had some of their ice cream while we were visiting Mammoth Cave National Park. We liked the ice cream so we decided to go to the source… About a 45 minute drive from the Mammoth Cave Visitor Center gets you to Chaney’s Dairy Barn. It is a place that you must seek out. It is not near any shops, restaurants, commercial areas, etc. It is several miles off the main highway in the middle of farm country!(There is a sign along the highway for Chaney’s so you are encouraged to drive further than you would normally consider…) Chaney’s is built to resemble a dairy barn. It is more than just an ice cream joint, though that is their main draw. They also serve lunch and dinner. I think most people come for the ice cream and only get lunch or dinner because they’ve driven all this way, there is nothing else around, and they feel guilty about eating ice cream without having a meal first.(Ice cream for dinner? What’s wrong with that??) Even so, we did decide to have dinner first…(We shared so we’d have plenty of room for ice cream!) The lunch and dinner menus are the same. Not a big selection… mainly soups, salads, sandwiches and burgers. We tried their signature potato soup and their ham sandwich(«The Porker»). This was one instance were the food we got was better than how it was described on the menu! The potato soup was creamy and had lots a flavor! It tasted like a baked potato that has been smothered in sour cream and drenched with cheese!(Don’t ask what’s in it! It tastes really good so you know that there’s got to be lots of unhealthy stuff in it!) The sandwich didn’t sound that exciting, but the ham was a honey-baked-type ham that was delicious! We had it with lettuce, tomato and onions and pepperjack cheese. It was served on a very good wheat bread. It seemed to be a local bakery bread.(Note: They served there sandwiches«dry» so if you like mustard or mayonnaise, you’ve got to put that on yourself.) After finishing our food we were now ready for the main course… ICECREAM! They had about a couple dozen ice cream flavors available.(Some flavors are seasonal and were not available.) They allowed us to sample most of the flavors before we made up our minds. Some flavors were good and other were very good. We were disappointed with the«Peach». The flavor was OK, but it was a hideous bright orange color.(Does that make this«kid friendly»?) I love«Pralines and Cream», but their version of it was not what I was familiar with, so I passed on that. The«Toasted Coconut» was very good and coco-nutty! Their«Bourbon Crunch» was good, but was it not that special for us. Some flavors were very kid-friendly and didn’t appeal to us. We settled on a double cone of «Coffee» and«Wow Now Brownie Cow» and a double cone of «Vanilla Brownie» and«Cherry Althea». The scoops were large, but not huge. My wife is a chocolate lover and the«Wow Now Brownie Cow» was brownie bits in chocolate ice cream. I’m not as big a chocolate lover so the«Vanilla Brownie» was brownie bits in vanilla ice cream.(It tasted like vanilla ice cream on a brownie… which I love!) We think the«Coffee» was mis-named. It was very good, but it was sweet and milky so it was more of a «cappuccino». The«Cherry Althea» was my favorite! It was rich cherry ice cream with red cherry chunks and chocolate slivers. This out-of-the-way ice cream place is a local favorite and I’m sure most will swear it’s the best ice cream that they have every had. From our travels across the country we were somewhat disappointed by the ice cream here. It was very good and well worth a stop, but it did not reach the high bar we had set for it. Some of the flavors were not as flavorful as we would have liked. We weren’t that impressed with their use of artificial colors. We saw ice crystals on the tops of some of the ice creams in their display/serving refrigerators.

Although my stop here was quick, it definitely seemed like a good place to bring the fam to enjoy the various flavors of ice cream(and a meal — although I can’t vouch for the food since I just had the ice cream) and let the kids play around in the back. Service was friendly and patient — I tried a few samples before deciding. :) If you live near the area, keep your eye on their website as it looks like they have special events like family moo-vie(get it? ’cause the cows and the milk and the ice cream?!) screenings.

They make all of their ice cream on site and they have so many flavors that are all yummy. And the prices are better than all the chains. This is a family owned business and its nice to support local businesses. There is a playground out back for kids and on the weekends they do tours where you can see the cows and learn about how cows are milked and then get a scoop of ice cream. The tour is $ 6, and that includes the ice cream :) You’ve got to visit at least once. This is a family owned business and its nice to support local businesses.
