I was a long time customer, but they are too arrogant now. I requested a vegetable to be left off a dish and this was considered a substitution and they won’t do it. I have an allergy to this vegetable, this could be considered a potential liability situation. The best way to avoid this is to NEVERGOAGAIN!

Cold-smoked beef tenderloin and corn pudding were top-notch! The Crab beignets with remoulade were flavorful, hot and fresh. My only disappointment is that you can’t substitute some things and you can’t order a la carte(lobster bisque – corn pudding).

Totally legit! Loved this place! Great, casual atmosphere and the food and service were amazing! We live in Ft. Worth and had been wanting to try this place for a while and now I can’t wait to go back! It’s byob, so bring some beer or a bottle of wine with you! We started out with the Shiner Bock Crab Beignets — OMG! We also had Crab Dip with garlic bread for dipping and some Seafood Hushpuppies… none of which disappointed! Then we got the«TV Dinner», which is a bento box with a little of each of their specialties in it — Crab and Shrimp Gumbo, Crab Cake and Slaw, buttery Shrimp n Grits, and a nice leaf lettuce salad with goat cheese, dried cranberries, toasted pecans, and a light vinaigrette… everything was soooo good! We finished our meal by sharing a piece of Coconut Cream Pie that was the perfect ending — and yes, they do have bread pudding and we will try that on our next visit!

We started out with the crab stuffed mushrooms and they were absolutely delicious. My bf and I both decided to go with the stuffed and smoked plate(one of their weekly specials). It had smoked salmon, scallops, and shrimp. Everything had the most perfect flavor. Especially the scallops. The plate also included lobster Mac and cheese(to die for) and crab stuffed lobster tail. All of that was served with a wonderful mix of seasonal veggies. For dessert we got the jack daniels crème pie(to go) and it was the best pie I think I’ve ever had. Everything was incredible and went way above my expectations of a small town seafood place(hey, we are pretty far from the ocean!) Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent mix of good food from lobster beignets to proper gumbo. Best desserts in town. Gets crazy busy– avoid peak hours. Worth the wait if you have to :)

Awe man! This place really deserve six stars! F&@k¡ń’ amazing! I can’t Believe it took me so long to get out there! And can’t wait to take my boyfriend back! Me and two other friends came in on a Saturday night about 7 o’clock… They had warned me we would have to wait. No big deal. Til we got there and noticed quite a few tables lingering well after their meal was done. I’m going to go ahead and say it’s because it’s BYOB. But whatever we opened up our wine and waited. We ordered Way too much food! But I wanted to try everything. To start we order the hot crab dip and stuff mushrooms. Both are amazing but hot crab dip was the winner. My girlfriend and I share the lobster Bento box. I’m so glad we did because it was so much food! The lobster mac & cheese was the best I have ever had! By the time we got to the dessert as well after 930… And then fortunately they were sold out at many items. The three of us shared the cream Brûlée… It was definitely disappointing after such an amazing meal. My friends reassured me to come back and try a different dessert. The boyfriend and I will be back very soon!

Wow. What a meal. I visited with a party of ten. Two had the simple grilled salmon, two had the filet Oscar, two kiddos had grilled cheese, one had popcorn shrimp, another had the crab crusted tilapia, and I devoured a crab risotto with scallops and shrimp. The scallops and shrimp were cooked perfectly, tender and succulent. The risotto was creamy and rich. We started with tempura-fried green beans and crab beignets. Light and crisp, and chock-full of fresh, sweet crab. To finish, we ordered a whiskey chocolate mousse pie, a banana cream pie, bread pudding, a slice of chocolate cake, 2Die4(a cream cheese mousse layered with fresh fruit, ladyfingers, and pastry), and chocolate truffled miniature Madeleine cookies. To say we left satisfied would be an understatement. You must try this place. I live in Benbrook, and it was definitely worth the drive.

Absolutely yummy! Flavor flavor flavor without being so hot you can’t enjoy it like some Cajun places do. It is so worth the drive. Get the desserts. …

Awesome food, awesome service and the best BYOB! Located in an old style Texas town only 15 miles north of me this place could hang with the fancy pancy places in Dallas and Fort Worth.

Boyd Texas is not right next door, BUT, driving out to gogo gumbo was well worth the drive. Great seafood place, with a small town décor and a waitstaff that makes you feel right at home. The food! Wow! Excellent seafood, and not because it’s the only place around. Put this joint in downtown Dallas or FW and it would stand superior. We started with the crab wrapped beignets which were light and had the right amount of crabmeat with a savory remoulade sauce. Entrees were crab crusted tilapia, Alaskan halibut with lobster mac n cheese. And the TV Dinner(the local version of a Bento box) had all the right things including crabcakes, gumbo, shrimp n grits, and a refreshing salad. We all sampled each entrée and couldn’t find fault with any of them. For dessert we shared the 2die4, a pastry with cream cheese mousse, fresh fruit, lady fingers, and almond cookies. The name was apropos. Definitely worth the road trip and there were so many choices it merits a revisit. Gogo gumbo!

Excellent food and service. We were there with 6 people having an enjoyable meal. We had just finished desert, still waiting on a check when a woman we were told was the owner came over and told us we needed to leave because people were waiting for a table. We were informed we could wait in the hall for the to-go order. When one of our party tries to talk to Her she was rudely cut off and the woman made a face behind her back. We drove 40 miles each way toward here. Unfortunately, we won’t be back. By the way, we spent almost $ 400 tonight.

Went to gogo gumbo! for the first time last night. My wife an I both ordered the bento box sampler. They call it a TV dinner which goes well with the small town chic theme of the restaurant. My son had the fried catfish basket. We each ordered a different gumbo for the TV dinner, so we would be able to sample both versions. ¾ of my bento box was very good. The crab cake had a good ratio of crab to filler, however, most of the crab pieces were very small. The salad was well dressed and I thought the fruitiness of the dried cranberries were complimented well by the salty feta cheese. The shrimp and grits hit the mark as well. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked and the grits were super creamy. The grits could have used a tad more salt, but they were still very tasty. That brings me to the gumbo. I had the chicken and sausage version, and my wife ordered the shrimp and crab rendition. You could tell the chef spent a lot of time developing a chocolate roux for his base, but the broth in mine was a tad too acrid for my taste. It’s as if he had taken the roux a few minutes past where it should have been. My wife’s did not have the same harshness, so I’m assuming that mine might have been a slight mistake. My gumbo was still flavorful, but I wish I could have had the broth/roux from the shrimp and crab version. My son enjoyed his catfish basket. The catfish was fried nicely and given a crunchy exterior thanks to it’s cornmeal dredge. We usually don’t order dessert, but tonight we decided to get the 2 die 4 based on our waiter’s recommendation. I’m glad we did. The tangy cheesecake was the perfect vehicle for the berry coulis that it sat upon. The lady fingers provided a nice bit of texture to the dish. Overall we enjoyed the food and the service at gogo gumbo! We’ll definitely be back. And as others have mentioned, i’t BYOB, so bring a good bottle of wine or your favorite beer to enjoy with their cuisine.

Fast, friendly and delicious! I am gluten free/sugar free so eating out is a challenge. I ordered the blackened shrimp with an undressed green salad(lettuce, spiced pecans, feta) then dressed the salad with a light oil and balsamic. The spices on the pecan and shrimp made this one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten! Absolutely delicious and filling. I would come back in an instant for nothing but shrimp and dry salad! Everyone at the table praised their dishes which varied between TV Dinners, shrimp pasta and crab cakes.

I am eating in all 254 Texas counties and ate here for Wise county. Had the Bento box including Gumbo, Crab cake, Salas with Feta and shrimp and grits. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Exterior hides the goodness inside. Privately owned, owner is Chef. 2DIE4 is so fresh and a perfect dessert. must eat there again

Got To-Go for the first time tonight. I prefer to eat there. To get the correct experience you really need to eat there. The food was still very good, it just wasn’t as good as when I dine in. I was late and we decided to eat at 8:30 and since they close at 9 and it is a 20 minute drive I decided to do ToGo instead of dine in so we weren’t one of «those people» that show up 10 minutes before close. Although they have told me before they will keep the kitchen open late. Always a very good choice. Just as a reminder that It is BYOB

We go up to Boyd a couple of times a year to Gogo Gumbo and meet up with friends for an enjoyable dinner. We always arrive just before 4 p.m. — before it gets too crowded. They do handle the crowd well, though. This last time we went I had the goat cheese salad with blackened salmon. The salmon was a little overcooked and they had formed a goat cheese«patty» and had pecan crusted it — wasn’t too crazy about that because it was kind of gritty. DH had a spicy seafood pasta which he loved and our friends were all very happy with their orders. I really liked the crab dip appetizer. It’s served with little pieces of garlic bread soaked in butter, that you dip in to the appetizer… yummmmm. For dessert we had the apple crostata which was delicious. I shared it with DH and wished I would’ve gotten my own! Service was good as usual and it’s also BYOB. Although I wasn’t as crazy about the salad as I have been the other dishes I’ve had there, we’ll definitely be back. They have inventive dishes and good fresh seafood.

Cooking Class consisted of Canteen Salad —(My brother-in-law’s commented that he could eat it every day); My favorite Shrimp & Grits and CCP. Chef Kraig’s cooking class are always entertaining capped off with a delicious meal. Too bad the entire year’s class sell out within days of posting.

Gogo Gumbo is a little Cajun /seafood place out in Boyd Texas. It is just about fifty miles North West from Dallas and thirty miles North by North West of Fort Worth on highway 114. *Get there early!* the doors open at 4 pm. Once they run out a dish, that’s it. Then you will have to pick something else until they run out of that item. **First timers get the«TV dinner» it’s a bento box, kind of a sampler of great food. Do not pass up an order of their strawberry lemonade. If you still have room order the banana cream pie, and if you don’t have room, order it to go. It is unbelievable! It’s so good; it will make your toes curl! Have you ever had your toes curl? Well my friend, here is the place! ***Second time go with some close friends so you can share and sample some of the great dishes here! Cajun /seafood heaven meets your plate. Notes in simple format: 1. Get there early! Doors open at 4pm. When they run out of a certain dish, that’s it. Until all of the choices are gone. Hours 4pm to 9pm Tuesday — Saturday 2. First time there get the«TV Dinner» — it’s a sampler meal. 3. Try the strawberry lemonade. 4. Try the banana cream pie — it will curl your toes! 5. If you sit up at the food bar, you just might get to meet the head chef Kraig Thome! Longer story: I’m sitting with a fly fishing buddy and his girlfriend telling fishing stories when topic of restaurants comes up. They tell me this mythical place of taste. They told me «Go west young man!» The doors open at 4pm and don’t be late. When they run out food that’s it for that choice! So I’m taking a class in Forth Worth, we get out at three o’clock and I’m feeling adventurous. I’m thinking foodie thoughts and remember the story of this mythical place called Gogo Gumbo. The car mysteriously turns to Boyd Texas. I arrive at 3:45 and I’m twelfth person in line. I look at my Unilocal app to see what the reviews say: The TV dinner — Bento Box keeps popping up, so I’m set on what to order. Look back up, it’s right before 4pm when the doors open, I look back and the line on a Saturday has tripled, I kid you not! The hostess asked where I wanted to be seated, now that’s a no brainer, me a «foodie want to be!» Sat at the old fashion bar, it’s like an old soda bar, but a great view into the kitchen(when the swinging door opens.) As the swinging door into the kitchen opens I get to see the head chef working his magic! The fantastic aromas that are coming from the kitchen are fantastic! My waiter comes over, great greet time, btw. Friendly person and suggests a strawberry lemonade(which I had already had on my radar.) They had me at my first sip of that wonderful drink! After my «TV Dinner» arrived my focus had changed as I sampled all of the different flavors from this bento box sampler. Grits and shrimp, please will you marry me, oh my! I had never had the combination before, so tasty, now I’m spoiled! Another little sampler box had a very light balsamic salad with pecans and a light feta cheese, very tasty, a nice palate cleanser. Another box had a tasty remoulade to use with the crab cake that was over a small slaw. The last cube had a small bowl of gumbo that was some of the best gumbo I’ve ever had! It was not overly spicy, but I do not remember seeing any okra in it! While having this fantastic dinner, the head chef comes out, Kraig Thome. He is from Boyd Texas and worked in Houston area perfecting his cooking skills. Now he is back in Boyd Texas now cooking at Gogo Gumbo! I had read about him and I introduced myself, I have a great deal of respect for great chefs. It was a big thrill to get to meet him! Nice guy, the staff says, «If he does not show up, we do not open the doors!» Now the best place to get a chance to meet him if he comes out is up at the food bar near the kitchen door. Afterwards if you have a sweet tooth, try banana cream pie, it will make your toes curl! If you decide you to full and wan it to go, tell them before hand so the can pour the sauce over the top in the to go box. Another tip: Boyd is in a dry county, so a person can bring alcohol in it’s BYOB. Now my buddy’s wife told me to bring back strawberry lemonade or two so she could add vodka to it. Now isn’t she the smart one! That made one hell of a great drink! Now this just wasn’t a meal, it was more of an adventure, and fantastic adventure! Next time I am bringing friends and we are going to share a number of your dishes. Just wanted to fair warn you! Gogo Gumbo, you had me at Hello! See you soon!
