I have boarded my horse here since September 2013 after looking at about 10 other places in SW Maryland and a bad experience at one of them. I have been very happy at Moon Rising Farm. Great management. Owner on premises and very experienced with horse care, training, pasture management, barn management, etc. Clean and well-maintained facilities. Friendly, tactful, polite staff. Nice boarders as well. Nice tack rooms. Spacious throughout. Temperature controlled lounge area for people. Real bathroom. No big noisy farm vehicles going up and down the barn aisles — only humans and horses. Acres to hack out. Short trailer rides to several public parks for trail riding. All disciplines welcome. Very nice covered indoor arena, impeccably maintained. Outdoor arena as well. Fair pricing. Vet, farrier, chiropractor, etc, visits all coordinated for you(if you choose) to help you save time and money. No hidden costs; in fact, a lot of costs are included in the boarding fee that other places would charge you extra for. During cold months, water is kept melted 24×7 and they will put on turnout blankets per your instructions. BESTPART: All horses have the option to be turned out 24×7(no mandatory stall times like almost every place else around here), but they also each have their own stall that can be closed off from the community turnout should they need stall rest. I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons:(1) No large round pen,(2) No outside trainers allowed(while the owner is a fantastic English riding instructor, I would like to have the option to bring in a Western riding trainer, but am not allowed). You MUSTSEE this place before making your final decision about where to board your horse(s). The horses here are happy, healthy, and safe. And that’s what’s most important to me.
