UYE Boynton Brewery Tour Week 2015

This was a great UYE Brewery Tour for YLBW! It was nice to take advantage of the 50% OFF Flights. I am so happy Cherine A. decided to do this in Palm Beach too because I think many BPB Unilocalers forget how many great breweries there are in the PB part of BPB (GO team Palm Beach btw… shameless plug but I am ok with that haha). She planned it perfectly too with us starting the furthest North and then working our way down. I unfortunately missed the first stop which turned out to be the best one (go figure) at Copperpoint but I did make all of the others. All the more reason for me to make a trip up now to check it out after everyone raved about it for the rest of the UYE.
First Stop for me…
Devour Brewing — This is a VERY small and new brewery but I loved that the most about this place ironically enough. It felt like I was hanging out at a friend’s garage. I sampled a few brews and they were all good. I especially liked this spicy coffee brew they made (I suck at remembering names). My favorite part of Devour had nothing to do with beer though lol! They have a small game room set up near the front where they have a few Wii games and one just so happens to be Guitar Hero! I spent most of the night here with a few other Unilocalers after figuring out how to get the game working. Everyone was looking for me and I was here playing games haha! Definitely a cool place and worth checking out.
Last Stop
Saltwater Brewery — I have passed this place so many times and haven’t had the chance to stop until now. I really like the huge bar and how they have a ton of tables set up outside. They also happened to have a food truck there that night as well which was perfect because beer makes me want to snack so a friend and I split a chicken sandwich and fries which went perfectly with all the beer. I got a flight here and sampled a few beers and they all were good. Again, I will work on remembering names but I just drink beer, chat with friends and have fun. I need to try to stay more focused on what exactly I am drinking lol!
Thank you to Cherine A. again for planning this and for all the fun memories made that night! I think UYE’s like this are similar to events and help build stronger friendships within the community. GO BLACK TEAM… ok last one! Hahaha ;)

The fun started at Copperpoint Brewing and we enjoyed 50% flights. My faves: the saison, the blood orange and the witness!
We continued to Devour and had a good time enjoying different samples of their beer… definitely opted for beers out of my forte: My fave: Coffee and Cream Brown Ale.

BPB Unilocaler Cherine S. Kicks It Out Of the Park With A Great Mini-​Brew Tour!
SITREP
On my trip out to Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) to hang with my awesome friends of Unilocal BPB (Broward-​Palm-​Beach), I was able to do some pretty spectacular side trips all over Southern Flordia: Deerfield, Hollywood, Miami, AND Boynton Beach!
THE SETUP
My trip (inadvertently, but serendipitously) coincided with Unilocal BPB’s «Local Beer Week» and so breweries all over BPB, FLL, Hollywood, and Boynton Beach were featuring promotions of 50% off the flights from participating breweries, which to be honest, was EVERY brewery I hit during this window!
So the Saturday night of my trip (Dec 12^th), Unilocaler Cherine S. organized a mini-​tour that took us to the most Northern point of my trip: Boynton Beach. And we got to enjoy at last three (3) different breweries on this particular excursion.
THE BREWERY ITINERARY
(1) COPPERPOINT BREWING. Our first stop was the Copperpoint Brewing Company, and already this was my favorite stop of the evening in terms of «brew» (though all stops were different kinds of fun) because I first chose my flight to include a selection of different ales & brews, but I immediately fell in love with their Blood Orange brew which remained my clear favorite of the entire night!
I actually loved Blood Orange so much that I did something that I have never done in my five (5) years of checking out breweries — I bought my very first growler, AND I filled it up with Blood Orange. [Of course, the sad realization is that being in California, it will no doubt be a long time before I ever get to come back this way to Boynton Beach, FL to capture this brew again.] What was special about this experience is that my Unilocal-​buddies Cherine S. and Edwin P. felt the same sort of synergy because they each bought THEIR first growlers too, AND filled theirs up ALSO with Blood Orange. This brew is indeed mana from heaven!
But, we actually DID move on, and next stop…
(2) DEVOUR BREWING. I’m embarrassed to say that since I was still feeling flush from the flights at Copperpoint, I really wasn’t jone’sin for a flight here and just got a pale ale (I can’t even remember the name) and as Cherine S. explained to me, they didn’t do traditional flights as Copperpoint did nor as Saltwater Brewery would do on your next stop. So it would be a bit more pricey in how you would order the beverages. I did try the Strawberry Cider, but it was a bit too sweet to my liking.
However, even though this was a garage set-​up, IT WAS FUN! First off, it was casual and comfy and promoting some great conversational set-​ups with our group. AND they also had Guitar Hero, and that made it fun. Next stop…
(3) SALTWATER BREWING. Cherine had mentioned only two (2) stops at the beginning of the evening, but since several people were jone’sin for food (and, truth be told, I can eat ANYTIME), and Saltwater Brewing Co. in nearby Delray Beach had a food truck service that went til Midnight (also Saltwater’s closing time), this seemed to be a great way to close off our Saturday tour.
I do believe that though the Blood Orange from Copperpoint was hands down my favorite brew of the night (well, actually my favorite brew PERIOD), Saltwater had my favorite FLIGHT — on this occasion I ordered their: (1) IPA; (2) Spiny brew; (3) Raspberry ale; and their (4) Blonde Ale. This was the best variety and why I would love to come hit Saltwater again, along with Copperpoint.
THE LOWDOWN

With Unilocal’s Local Beer Week promotion (50% off of flights from participating breweries), I wanted to take advantage of as many new places as possible. But it wouldn’t be fun without my fellow Unilocalers! So I put together this UYE to visit two Boynton Beach breweries, since they were so far away from the action of YLBW and I wanted to show them some love.
After not one but two date changes, we finally all got together at the first stop, Copperpoint Brewery. This was definitely my favorite place of the evening! Great vibe, friendly staff, fun (but not rowdy) atmosphere. One of the bartenders greeted me as soon as I stepped up to the bar, so I ordered my flight. Of the options I chose, their Blood Orange Wit was the clear winner (although I liked all of my samples). I liked it so much, I bought my very first growler! Honestly, I would’ve been very happy staying here all night… but the tour must go on.
Next stop: Devour Brewing Company. This is quite literally in a garage. They did not have traditional flights, but rather half-​off their sampler sizes (so $ 2.50 rather than $ 5). This made it the most expensive option of the breweries I’ve been to. I decided to be different here and just ordered a pint of the strawberry cider. It was a bit sweeter than I anticipated, but I took my time sipping it. That was a-​okay, since we busied ourselves by playing Guitar Hero! Although Devour didn’t really impress me, we still had plenty of fun.
We weren’t quite ready to call it a night, so onward we went to «unofficial» stop #3: Saltwater Brewing in Delray Beach. My flight choices here: their blonde, wheat, cider, and kombucha. I wasn’t overly impressed with any of the drinks, but perhaps my palate was a bit overwhelmed by all of the beer from the evening (this was by far the most I’ve consumed in a single day). I’m glad I got the chance to try kombucha… didn’t hate it, didn’t love it… it was just «interesting.» We all stayed out on the patio, chatting and some of us eating from the «Out of Many» food truck (got to try oxtail for the first time, thanks to Blue!).
I had an absolute blast hanging out with old (and new!) friends. Thanks so much to everyone for coming out to my first REAL UYE… and tolerating the many date and time changes :)

Three breweries in one night? Hell yea!
The lovely Cherine set the UYE: Boynton Brewery Mini Tour for the ones that wanted to continue with the discounted flights after the Unilocal’s Sweet Ending event at Riverside Market South. Copperpoint, Devour, and Saltwater were the breweries that we went to on the crawl.
All of us in the group got a flight and it filled up our table perfectly. We were able to try some beers that we didn’t get on our flight and each brewery was on the list for the 50% off check-​in offer for the flight. Not only we enjoyed some good brews, but we saved a few bucks in the mean time.
Fabulous times with endless laughter was included too. What the hell was it about? Well, you had to have been there. It was a whole lot of fun with so little time. You got to make this happen again, Cherine ;) We can’t thank you enough for shenanigans that were caused last night!
