Speedy Lube

The best service I’ve had in oil change of 180,000 miles driven in nine western States and only one of two in all states that stocked Castrol ⁵⁄₂₀ in addition to checking and replenishing low level fluids beyond oil change they spray washed my exterior, fully vacuumed and cleaned the interior then organized scattered papers lying on the floor board on the passagers side, neatly placed into order in the seat. WOW I’m impressed, huh so impressed I forgot to hand them the $ 5 discount coupon I had clipped from the newspaper and had I even remembered it? I wouldn’t even have considered it, Job well done.

Went back for front rotors and brakes, they gave me an estimate that was significantly less than my other go-​to place. No need to turn back, I will keep coming back here.

I am adding this review because some of the previous positive reviews helped us find this place. Needed to get a new battery for my son’s car (student at MSU). We are from Pennsylvania, so no local connections. I can confirm what other reviewers said. These guys are nice and honest. In addition to the battery, we asked them to check brakes and antifreeze. They could easily have sold us new brakes or a radiator flush, but they didn’t. We got an honest answer on the brakes (probably need new ones in 6 months), and the antifreeze was fine too.
Once again, a great Unilocal find.

Just came in to get my oil changed, and I didn’t have a ton of time, but I figured it was okay because it was called «Speedy» Lube. I got out and looked around for someone to check in with, but didn’t see anyone, so I went inside. I saw a gentleman coming toward my car and I ran out to meet him. He «greeted me» with an attitude-​laced «Can’t do anything with a locked car!» and a frown. I’ll spare the rest, but suffice it to say, I was next in line behind a car that looked like it might be finished soon. I gave him my info and agreed to the oil change and went inside to wait. About 5 minutes later, I noticed my car had been MOVED, to another line, with THREE cars ahead of me, and two new cars had moved into MY spot! What in the crap is that about? So I went out to my car, took the little clipboard thing off my visor, and went to return it to the office. The man intercepted me and told me that these gentlemen were before me (who I noted came in after me, incidentally). If I can’t trust a person to tell me the truth about when I got here, how can I trust him with my car? I wanted to like this place. I really did. I’m sorry to say the service sucked.

So at first I thought this was an ok little lube shop. Toys and a coloring area for the kids while we waited on an oil change. An older gentleman was the host, the cashier and the go-​between delivering the news on any other vehicular fluids that may need attention.
They vacuumed my car, washed the windows, and checked all fluids. My concern with Speedy Lube is that the older gentleman came in with a white tray of what was supposed to be a comparison of transmission fluid — clean (light pink) and dirty (dirty pink). He said my vehicle was in need of a transmission fluid change that would cost about $ 80, and that they could do it while I waited. I told him I only brought enough cash with me for an oil change and that I would call back and reschedule for the tranny.
The thing is, when I went home that evening, I informed my husband of the suggestion to set up a service for tranny fluid and he said my vehicle had just had it serviced just a few months ago and that should last 50k miles. I feel almost as if someone was trying to squeeze an extra $ 80 from my wallet… I suppose I need a second opinion, or either the shop that my husband went to a few months ago didn’t service the tranny but charged us for it anyway…
I’m having trouble rating this one, hence the 3 stars.
Things that could make it better:
— the lobby was grungy and grimey, but I guess you could expect that from a shop
— I guess I don’t have too much to complain about, just need some clarification on my prior service…

After Jiffylube tried to rip off a friend I decided that I would give Speedylube a try. They got me in right away and got me out quick. But not once did they try and sell me something I didn’t need (which I’ve gotten used to at oil change places).
Great customer service and I’ll be a customer for life!
