My family has been going here for years. Fresh off the boat crabs. The best place to get crabs in Maryland. Well worth the drive! You get a better quality of crab for at least half the price. It’s 10 minutes from St. Michael’s. * only cash or checks accepted*

I found this place in a guidebook in our hotel room. It was marked with a vague, fuzzy dot on the map. I hope the Unilocal!mafia doesn’t go after these guys just because I wrote a review… they’re fourth generation fishermen and this place is ZERO frills. It’s not really a market of any kind, just a dock with a refrigerator and some coolers. During our short visit a few pickup trucks swung by to get fare for local restaurants. The suntanned kids saw us come up and informed me that I was too late for oysters, but that I should talk to their dad, who pulled up as if on cue. He was super gracious, very salt of the earth type, and told me that I was 2 weeks too late, but offered to sell me a couple of dozen blue crabs for cash. I bought a dozen for a few bucks a pop and tossed them in my cooler. No credit card! No set hours! Is it worth the drive out? Maybe — we’re not talking rolling idyllic countryside here. You’d better really be in the mood for a hike. In hindsight I wish I’d just stayed in Annapolis and bought from the market there, but what’s done is done. And now I get to eat crabs.
