My Mom preordered 6 for my birthday. When she went to pick them up, the box contained 3, and flavors she didn’t order. Woman insisted these were what she ordered, as she took order herself. Then, a second box appeared with correct order. No apology. Rude attitude, Not a way to treat new customer. To be fair, cupcakes were OK. Based on that, and owners attitude, will not return.

I was so happy to find a locally owned cupcake shop down the road from my workplace. A great cluster of shops have opened in the corner of this plaza, next to a new froyo place and a decent Thai lunch spot.
Cakes and Cups has a front glass case containing at least a dozen flavors of cupcakes. They also sell many different accessories for baking your own cakes and cupcakes, including toppers, transportation boxes, and fillings. Nothing too unique or stylish, other than the custom made seashells. The staff is usually baking or mixing at all times, open to the front of the shop, so you can watch the action. My favorite so far is the Key Lime Cupcake, because anything that contains condensed milk is yummy in my book. However, the key lime topping is the only part of the cake that has flavor. Since Cakes and Cups is a local, I was hoping that the cupcakes would have more of a «natural» taste. But, most of the cakes have a synthetic taste. Like butter flavored shortening is only used, instead of mixing some real butter in. The chocolate cake and frosting is bland, and all of the white and yellow cake bases have a lemon flavoring added.
