Happy Dragon

Save your time, money, and well-​being for another restaurant. My girlfriend and I ordered kung pow tofu and white rice last night for pickup. We were told that it would take 15 minutes to have the food ready. We got there 20 minutes later. After paying the cashier, the cashier said nothing about giving us the food. No «Okay hold on we will get the order to you» or anything. We stood there in silence for 30 seconds and I assumed that the order on the counter was mine. When I started taking it she said that it was not our order. We actually sat and waited about 20 more minutes for our food to come out. The food itself was okay, but later that night my girlfriend was bloated, nausieted, pained, and unable to sleep.

Complete waste of money. Ordered here because they delivered and the food was horrible. The boneless spareribs were unlike anything I had ever seen before… my husband said it looked and tasted like fried elephant skin. The shrimp with lobster sauce had zero flavor– like eating boiled shrimp with clear, gooey liquid. The dumplings are like gyoza. This place is a disgrace to American chinese food.

We ordered on the phone at 9:15 and could not get an order in till 9:40, and then when we got to the restaurant they had closed up already, after assuring us that they would be open. The person at the phone was unaccomadating and literally told us to «hurry up hurry up» after we couldn’t understand a thing that he was saying.

The one star I awarded to this restaurant is for the service. We ordered a take out on a Saturday night and it was delivered right on time.
Unfortunately the meal was not as impressive. We have been using this restaurant for over 6 months weekly/​bi-​weekly and the food seems to be getting progressively worse. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, French fries and rice. I had to throw most of it away. The sauce was like an orange flavored vinegar and the rest of it tasted like different textured air. My husband ordered a shrimp noodle dish and a beef dish — both as bad as my own meal. Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had.

I like it! Good food and good price! It’s fresh, clean and fast! Most people order take out. If you like Chinese food, this is your place.

The food wasn’t so great, the service was like bad, and some time the children make me really uncomfortable, even I order it to deliver it wasn’t that great! I think i won’t go there again!

This was our first time ordering from the Happy Dragon. I was excited to find someplace that offered delivery. Well, I was less than satisfied with the food I received.
I ordered:
Krab Rangoon
2 Egg Rolls
General So’s Chicken with fried rice
The «Krab» Rangoon did not appear to have any crab; and it was very greasy. The dipping sauce was a little tart.
The General Sos and friend rice… Let’s start with the chicken. It was soggy and did not taste good at all. It actually had some type of bitter taste. It was NOT spicy at all. It was much too bland. The rice was also very bland.
As for the egg rolls, after tasting the first two dishes — I haven’t even had the urge to taste the egg roles. My taste buds were screaming, «keep that food away from us!»
The name of the restaurant may be The Happy Dragon. but this is one unhappy customer.
PS — My order was just under $ 40. I feel it was a total waste of money because the only one who was full after dinner was the garbage can!

Happy Dragon is a not so happy place but only because the cashier was «disciplining» her child publicly (it made me feel slightly uncomfortable).
But anyway, I ordered the Orange chicken with vegetable fried rice and a spring roll. I was very disappointed because once again another Chinese restuarant here in FL doesn’t offer chicken egg rolls… UGH! The vegetable fried rice didn’t look like fried rice, it actually looked like Spanish rice BUT it tasted great (but not like fried rice). The orange chicken was ok.
I was extremely annoyed when I get home to find out that they didn’t put any soy sauce or sweet & sour sauce in the bag.
Needless to say, it wasn’t bad so I’ll try Happy Dragon again but order a different item. If anyone knows of a Chinese restuarant that serves chicken egg rolls please let me know. ;-)

When I opened the bag of ‘crunchy noodles’ and found VERY stale ones instead, I was worried that this was a bad sign about the meal I was about to eat. Luckily, this was the ONLY part of the meal that I wasn’t impressed with. This little restaurant has turned out to be a very pleasant surprise in Lakewood Ranch. Most Chinese restaurants around here really stink. but the food served here (except for the crunchy noodles) is SUPER fresh, cooked to order, and quite delicious. My husband and I order take-​0ut frequently from Happy Dragon and have been consistently satisfied with everything we’ve tried. Nothing is drowning in sugary, over-​seasoned sauces or oil. They take a lot of pride in serving only fresh ingredients– nothing from a can or frozen… so while you may be bummed that there are no baby corn or black straw mushrooms, I am happy knowing that the ingredients they cook with are the same as the ones I’d choose to use at home. I especially love the shrimp and eggplant in garlic sauce and the Mei Fun with vegetables. YUM. This is a great go-​to place when you want Chinese food without the typical ohhh-I-wish-I-hadn’t-eaten-that feeling that usually comes an hour later. BRAVO Happy Dragon. We will see you again soon!
