Wow, that quesadilla was life changing! Cooked to order tortillas, I had the shredded beef, be sure to add the picked onions, slaw and feta! My six year old said he wanted to go to sleep after eating his chicken and cheese quesadilla so he could«dream about eating it again!» Definitely will come next time I am in town!

I’m thoroughly sad I didn’t find this place sooner. Better than Chipotle, in my opinion! This place uses fresh ingredients, and prides themselves on the quality of their meats and cheeses that they use– as well as natural sugars in their soda fountain drinks and local, real honey in anything requiring honey. My significant other and I both spent a lot of time talking to the employees on a quiet afternoon asking all sorts of questions about the food quality. They had good answers for us and were knowledgable about what they were serving. They had suggestions for us re: what to try, and were happy to help. I got a customized burrito, which is huge, by the way, and got the shredded chicken, white rice, cheese, pico de gallo, cilantro, black beans and sour cream. Excellente. My other half got a bowl with nearly the same, but brown rice and some other excess toppings. The total meal cost us less than $ 30.00 and that includes refillable drinks. Their lemonade is great, and so is their black cherry soda(real sugar,) if you’re into soda it was FANTASTIC. The environment is neat, modern, rustic. They offer seating inside and outside at this location, and we found the music lovely– reggae was playing the first time, though the guy who worked up front explained they shift stations every so often. We’ve since been here maybe 3 times, and have not been disappointed. You won’t leave here hungry.

I’ve been to all 3 locations. Just as a warning to people eating vegan/vegetarian the pinto beans(may)contain pork fat. I’m not entirely sure. A couple of times there was no warning even when I was ordering tempeh. I am not vegetarian but I understand how this could upset some people.

Nice option for tacos– very much like chipotle in its set up and options, but a little more ‘homey’. What do I mean by that? I mean you’ll find more care to the food– pulled chicken with a unique flavoring, cabbage, flavorful cheese. All good tasting options to load up your tacos or bowls. The soda is really good– I’m not familiar with the brand and I forgot the name, but it’s real sugar and real ingredient based. The food is extremely filling!

One of my favorite spots to eat. A tacaria with local veggies & meat with with no preservatives, soda with real sugar cane, you can eat great food without the harsh chemicals and addivites. Plus, it’s a fun environment & friendly atmosphere.

Not as good as Chipotle or Qdoba but on their way! We need more fresh food restaurants like this! Bonus to both C & Q — They sell beer!

We were down here from St Pete for a lacrosse game and stopped in for lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff with prompt service. We got two beef tacos and two chicken tacos. We were impressed that they made the flour tortillas right on the spot! Topped our tacos with homemade guacamole, pico de gallo, jack cheese and a lime wedge. Delicious! Loved their all natural fountain drinks and teas. Will definitely be back again to try more of the menu! Thx Poppo’s!

Think chipotle but locally sourced and organic(when feasible). It’s a little bit pricier than chipotle but that’s to be expected because the quality of food is much higher and you’re helping the earth by eating here too! They have anything from massive burritos to healthy salads or over steamed kale. I’m a vegetarian and their tempeh is unbelievable(for non veggies, don’t worry I’ve heard all their meat options are incredible too).

Good food for the price. definitely a nice alternative to chipotle. I especially like the fountain sodas. no high fructose corn syrup, no nasty fillers.

3 stars because it’s just another trendy, fast-food, Chipotle-wannabe, taco/mexican place– I have no idea why this place gets 5 star reviews. I thought it was just ‘ok’. I mean, yeh they do fry the chips right in front of you which is pretty cool but that’s about it. The Big Bowl I had wasn’t really all that big and for $ 9.00 I expected more. Lunch was over $ 15 for the Big Bowl, a side of chips w/guac, and a fountain drink. The bowl had kale squashed by shredded chicken, red cabbage, feta cheese, and pico. The incredibly small side of salsa that comes with the chips is a joke. In fact, I thought they gave us the wrong container. My advice on the chips and salsa — eat one chip plain, then one with a VERY tiny bit of salsa, and continue alternating like that to spread out the salsa. Probably won’t be back because there are so many other options in the area.

Poppo’s is a wonderful addition to the AMI/Bradenton/SRQ area! It is exactly what we needed around here — a fast, casual option for lunch or dinner that serves organic and healthy options. Their quesadilla is done so that it is a little crispy, which makes it absolutely delicious. They also offer organic fountain soda options with real sugar instead of corn syrup. Personally, I usually order the«baby bowl» with fresh kale or arugula(their options change depending on the season), pulled pork, pico de gallo, sour cream, lime, and feta cheese. Their atmosphere is interesting, as well — reclaimed wood with a trendy but vintage feel. Their menu is wonderful and it’s refreshing to see a locally-owned restaurant do so well. Love it & highly recommend to all!

I was über excited when I read the review on Unilocal about Poppo’s. «Organic» ingredients!!! All of my dreams have come true; a health conscious eatery in the area. I was shocked to arrive during lunch time and the place was not packed nor did service pick up the hour I was there. Initially, I was a little taken back by the lack of enthusiasm of the employees but I really didn’t care because I just wanted to try the food. I ordered the Poppo’s taco(w/chicken) and a side of guacamole w/chips. The taco was good but not great(I’ve had better; but not w/organic ingredients). I was disappointed that they ONLY had shredded chicken because I really dislike shredded chicken but it was bad. Although, I prefer the chicken at Chipotle, I’d rather have organic ingredients. The guacamole was AWESOME, the chips were fresh made right in front of my eyes. Oh the way out of the door the employees thanked us for coming and that’s the enthusiasm I was looking for. I’ll definitely return! I hope this place sticks around and they add non-shredded chicken to the menu. If so I’d eat there daily.

Everything is fresh and made right in front of you! Sooooo delicious and cheap too… This place is so good we eat here at least once a week! I usually get a baby bowl(all the fixins without the tortilla) bc its plenty of food & a little healthier, but the quesadilla is by far the best thing on the menu! I love the homemade guacamole & the honey lime cabbage is an excellent touch to any item on the menu!

My 2nd time at poppos & it is getting 5 stars. My tortillas could have been tosted more so they didnt fall apart but in the end, i didnt care because they taste so good so just pick up a fork before you sit down. The poppos with the spicey beef was so yummy with the salty feta & honey lime red cabbage slaw. This time i ordered a regular carnitas taco too, which even my tex mex Dr. Kyle would have approved of — no tomatoes just tender perfectly seasoned, juicy slow cooked pork, onions & cilantro yummy. Extra points for local honey, organic tea & the bendy straw… nice touch Poppos.

Have driven by this place several times and finally decided to try it. I had the classic tacos and coworker had a burrito. Both of our meals were delicious. I’m sure there will be complaints about the pricing, but I will gladly pay more for super fresh, local ingredients.

We met friends for lunch at Poppo’s. We had chips and salsa to start. The chips were thick and the salsa was fresh and mild. I had carnitas and beef tacos with carnitas being my favorite. The honey lime cabage really made the tacos. I also like that feta cheese is an option along with traditional jack cheese. All the meats are antibiotic and hormone free. The soda(from a fountain) have no HFCS and they offer several iced teas and kombucha. I think this is a great lunch spot and look forward to coming back next time we visit Bradenton.

Organic whenever possible. High fructose corn syrup free soda(duh. Obviously off-brand). Fresh ingredients. Local if possible. Healthy food fast. Love love love this place! Lots of vegetarian options! Only pay extra for sour cream and guac. And then not too much. A nice big lunch for $ 5 – 7 is a welcome change. Don’t sweat the poor reviews posted here. Notice how many reviews they’ve given. You can’t go wrong with Poppos. All my friends agree. Check them out and decide for yourself.

If you have read our other reviews on Mexican restaurants here in SoFlo, then you know that Grub Guru knows how Mexican should look, taste and provide that customer experience. So, Grub Guru hit this location In Nov ’14, and loved the fact that Poppos uses local farmers/produce etc. Two thumbs up on that. SUPPORTYOURLOCALFARMERS!!! Going organic means higher prices for consumers… but provides a better tasting product. Grub Guru enjoyed the interior décor and customer service. Had the tacos… but everything is pulled meat? Understand the philosophy behind it, but that traditionally won’t work for tacos el’carbone/street tacos. Grub Guru sees this currently as the only good Taqueria in SoFlo… keep up the good work!
