I had a last minute emergency when Über fell through and I needed to be at the airport. Two taxis said it would be at least an hour, one said ‘we don’t do spur of the moment’ and then Suncoast said«I’ve got an eleven-thirty so I can be there in twenty minutes.» The car was clean and very nice, apparently I was being driven by the owner who was pitching in today. There was pleasant conversation, and I’m not usually big on taxi conversation.(I’ve paid a driver an extra $ 5 not to engage me.) He talked about his time in Chicago, and hanging out in the bleachers at Wrigley Field, and the economics of being poor, and the important thing is that I was at the airport fifteen minutes early.
