Great meal. More than enough to eat. Best to share dishes. Korean short ribs were wonderful. Terrific seasoning. Stone pot dish was also very good. Vegetables and salads, kimchi were crisp, spicy and fresh.

Love this place! Don’t let the weird location fool you. This is great sushi even for very picky sushi eaters! They also do delivery thru Doorstep which is AWESOME! I eat here almost every week.

We enjoyed both Kimch Jiggae & Soon dubu Jiggae at lunch, this is as authentic as it can get. Normally I’m not a fan of restaurants that try to service Chinese, Korean & Japanese food & I can only comment on the Korean food, but that is very good, sadly lacking a little in the Banchan selection which is an integral part to Korean food, nice interior & very quick professional service(which is the norm in Korean establishments) 4 star because we are happy to find a decent authentic Korean food in MannaSota!

I don’t care for the sushi; I’ve had much better in the area. But, I have enjoyed their Chinese options. I’ve tried just one Korean dish and was disappointed. So if you’re in the mood for Chinese, this is a decent option, superior to many of the cheap-o places in the area. They make their own sauces and clearly hand bread their chicken in dishes such as sweet & sour. No frozen, uniform, extra breaded crap here. I can recommend the ginger salad due to a yummy dressing(the salad itself is just iceberg lettuce and carrots). Egg rolls, sweet & sour chicken, combination fried rice, and gyoza are all recommended.

The ONLY place for Sushi in Bradenton. Amazing! One of the only places I trust! We have been costumers for almost 14 years. The family has always treated us like like family from our first date. Freindly personable staff that truely cares and appriciates your patronage. Your not just a customer here. The food is Creative, Delicious, Fresh and did I say AMAZING!

Love this place. Best sushi we’ve ever had and you can’t beat the staff. We’ve been going here since 2004 and won’t go anywhere else for sushi. We’ve come to know them as family over the years. We can’t praise them enough. Always an excellent experience. See you soon, Dave, Somer and Lana

This was a deeeelicious restaurant! We ordered sushi, chinese and korean dishes and they were all excellent. Had the hot stone bi bim bop and it was the«bi bim bomb»! Sweet in sour chicken was the best i have had in ages. Sushi was very fresh!

I love this place. It is layer back and stress free. The food is very good here and the prices aren’t ridiculous. I get the grouper tempura roll here and I pay half the price I would at other places. Also, the staff is very friendly. Overall this is our go to sushi place when we don’t feel like spending $ 70 for two people.

Service great. Food great. Got the soon tofu(soon dubu) and jam bong(jjampong) and asked for them extra spicy. Fantastic especially with this being the only korean place I could find in the area on Unilocal.Really been craving my traditional foods.

So happy to have found a Korean restaurant in the Sarasota area! Service was excellent and the food tasted very fresh. My friends and I shared the Regina roll, the galbi(short ribs), bulgogi(beef), dolsot bibimbap(stone pot dish), and jjampong. I was craving seafood pancake, but did not see it on the menu, maybe I overlooked it. Also the selection of banchan could be more varied, but beggars can’t be choosers in this case, I will be back soon and often!

I’ve eaten here about 6 times in the past 3 years and have only ordered their korean food. This place is pretty decent considering it’s the only restaurant that serves korean food in manatee and sarasota county. I did deduct stars because they use frozen dumplings for their mandu guk. I know because I purchase the same brand of dumplings. Their bugolgi is delicious though and the lunch portion is pretty good. I definitely need to try their sushi the next time I go.

If you are craving for Korean food, this one is only get by. I was kinda disappointed! I ordered Korean ramen and bulgogi. It was pretty bad, ramen tasted like package ramen, bulgogi was too sweet, kimchi was way too old. Well it’s just my opinion. Service was super great though.

It was the first time for five of us at Sam Oh Jung and we craved authentic Korean food. So, we ordered the Bul Go Ki combo box but asked for a spicy version of the beef. We were not disappointed. The marinated slices of beef were thin, moist and tasty. It went so well with the lightly pickled daikon, bean sprouts and cucumber. We asked for spicy sauce to dip the fair-sized dumplings/mandu. The box also came with fried/steamed rice and 3 – 4 slices of orange. Service was very attentive. We will be back!

So happy to have found a Korean restaurant near Sarasota!!! Coming from Atlanta, I had been used to frequenting my local tofu soup house and was craving Korean food ever since moving to Sarasota. I ordered the soon tofu soup and the Gal bi. I was thrilled when our waitress brought over the traditional Korean appetizers, yum!!! Pickled everything and their kimchi hit the spot. The soon tofu soup was hot and delicious! Tofu super soft and the egg was yummy, veggies gave it a little crunch and the spice was perfect b The gal bi(beef short ribs) were SO good, they give you a pretty large portion. My fiancé and I split both of these and were stuffed at the end of the meal. So happy to have found my go to Korean spot!

We love this restaurant and the staff! They are warm and welcoming and our favorites are: K Roll, Eka Roll, Mexican Roll, Spider Roll, the list goes on and on… I’m sure I am forgetting something. It is ALL soo good! We have introduced friends to Sam Oh Jung and they love it as much as we do!

This would be a two star place in Annandale, VA, but since we’re in Bradenton/Sarasota, it’s as good as it gets for Korean and the sushi is fresh and well-prepared! Their galbi(beef short rib) is pretty darn good. Good marinade, decent amount of charred parts and it’s not swimming in oil. The kimchi jigae(pickled cabbage soup with tofu and pork) was okay. They put way too much sesame oil in it in my opinion, but to each their own. It’s a shame though b/c their kimchi is so perfectly ripe, flavorful, sweet and pungent. It would make the best soup, but the sesame taste overpowers it. Don’t request brown rice unless you want the hardcore brown rice. I expected the typical fluffy light brown rice served at most restaurants, but their brown rice is über healthy and not the best accompaniment to sushi.(see pic) Ban chan(small sides) were minimal but more than I expected in a Manasota restaurant. They served standard kimchi, radish kimchi, marinaded radish/carrot and bean sprouts. The other Korean restaurant in Bradenton only serves kimchi, so they are more than generous in comparison. Restaurants in Annandale fill the table with anywhere from 5 – 10 ban chan plates, but you take what you can get here. Oh, how I long for the Korean restaurants in VA, but I’m so grateful for Sam Oh Jung. Best Korean in the area for sure and service is fantastic. Highly recommended!

I feel kind of strange writing this review. I’ve been going to Sam Oh Jung since I moved to the area back in the 90’s. But never wrote a review. There was a period of time where I went there about once a month and then that tailed off when I got too big for my britches. But know what? This placed saved this poor west cost boy. Asian food in this area was really bad when I moved here and Sam Oh Jung was the only place that was good. So I lived there. I let them down a few years by not going often, but I’ve been going there for lunch recently as it is close to work. So I figured I better wite up a note and according to my criteria of being consistently good they need 5 stars. 14 years of good means here, how can they not be 5 stars? And they are still good, still friendly, still serving some very good sushi and Korean food. I’m a big fan the Gal bi and the Dolsot BiBimBap. My DC loves the eel as well. Always fresh tasty and yummy. The choice of Korean dishes aren’t huge, but what they do are very nice. As for the sushi, it is always nicely prepared and very tasty. Try the sweat shrimp with the fried head for a nice treat. Service is always excellent and friendly. Actually more friendly now than they were all those years ago when I first stumbled upon them when I was shopping at the publix next door. Go, go now, and get some gal bi and some eel. Ignore the Chinese things they have on the menu, they have those for the crazy blue hairs that don’t know any better and just get sushi and tasty Korean food.
