Small airport for a small town. Before people make fun of it for being so small though, it is relevant in teh airport world. For example, when there are big races at BIR, all the rich bigwigs fly their little jets into here. Some clients would fly their company or personal jets in here when visiting my employer when I lived in the area. So the place is used by more than single engine cessna’s flown by joe the plumber. When I lived in the area, my best personal use for this airport was having Delta/Northwest deliver my baggage here and I’d pick it up at my convenience after the inconvenient experience of flying their airline. Seriously, every time I I flew overseas those idiots would lose my bags and I’d get them 1 – 3 days later, with barely an apology from Delta. Four times in a row and counting… So the airport is small, but serves a purpose!

Okay for review #400 — i’ll give it to my new hometown airport BRD, BRD, BRD! I’ve flown into here many, many, many times over the years — –and am happy to say that they’re going through a major«modern for Brainerd» overhaul restoration. Seriously looks way better! Don’t be too freaked about the TSA process here though… kinda funny, actually. The passengers basically all wait until TSA tells everyone to go through. One.Gate. Free. Parking! Free. WiFi! I hope Delta doesn’t pull out of here…

I have never seen a smaller airport. It was cool though getting baggage, renting a car, and picking up the actual car all within about 20 feet of each other.

Ok, this is the smallest airport i’ve ever flew into or out of. The Little Northwest puddle jumper was fun but I beat this airport must be all kinds of fun when the weather is nasty. I didn’t see an air control tower and we had to walk out onto the tarmac when the plane landed. It’s almost like stepping back in time flying into this airport.
