Sherwin-Williams Paint Store

The customer service is pretty good here and the store is clean, but I can’t really give this place more than 3 stars. Every time I come here to look for deck stain, they never have the colors (or even type) I want. Their selections for various things are limited. I usually find what I want in the Hingham location.

In general, I find the customer service to be very good here. I bought paint during one of their major sales and Sherwin Williams’ reps seem to be upfront (this seems true on both the West and East coasts in my experience) about when their big sales are imminent. I spoke with several staff members and all were informative and helpful, some a little more than others.
The only reservation I have is with some advice I got about the SuperPaint. I don’t know whether it was inaccurate advice or that the product didn’t live up to expectations. Either way, I was told that you don’t need to prime previously painted walls before using Super Paint on them (no exceptions on color either, but our walls were essentially white beforehand). However, we had a lot of trouble with coverage when we painted. We used two different paint colors in two rooms, one light and one dark, and both had the same problems. We were also told it wouldn’t be necessary to have two coats. We ended up using two coats without primer. I am not sure if primer would have helped, but we definitely couldn’t get away with one coat without the primer. There were areas that were noticeably lighter and just uneven. Even after two coats, I am finding spots that need touch up. Granted, we are not professional painters, but we didn’t expect to have this much difficulty. Since we have nothing to compare it to, I won’t say it’s the paint, but I wish I had known about some of these issues going into our paint jobs.
