Sonny’s BBQ

After eating there for a long period of time, I learned they have ROACHES everywhere. This is not an experience I want to be a part of.

I was in the mood for some good bbq and was so disappointed. The ribs were so tough you needed a sharp knife to get a little meat off the bone. The taste was ok but nothing special. I got the pork 3 ways and a friend got the sampler platter… none of the food was especially taste.
While our waitress was very friendly, she had very little knowledge. I ask the diffrence between St. Louis ribs and baby back (just to see what she would say) and she said she did not know so she called another waitress over and she said that it was how they are cooked so I asked if they were larger ribs and the second waitress said she did not know.
There are just too many good options out there, unfortunately this is not one of them.

Nothing we had were any good. We got the all you can eat ribs, but only ate about 4 ribs. It was dry, maybe it was just that day? =/​our waitress took forever to come back and we didn’t want to wait for more ribs.

Worst experience I have ever received in life. We called two hours ahead to notify that we had a large party coming in. The worker on the line said no problem, they will take care of us. We got to the location, no long wait, was seated in a timely manner, but from there it all declined. We arrived at 6:35pm and ordered shortly after no later than 6:50pm. The food came out right at 8:00pm, however we all had to alter our orders, due to running out of ribs. Some guests at the table canceled their entire order, being they ordered all you can eat ribs. It was the worst. The server kept saying their GM was out of town on conference and this is why they have no food to serve. We only come out to Sonny’s once a year for my husband’s birthday.

We stayed at a hotel in the area and decided to stop here to eat. It was so good!!! We have lived in NC for 6 years and they have vinegar based barbecue so it was really nice to have the smoked ketchup based barbecue. The egg roll appetizer was delicious. For dinner we had the pulled pork and it was awesome!!! Highly recommend.

This was our last visit to Sonny’s who used to be a good place to eat BBQ. We were served by an inexperienced waitress who was very sweet & reported to the management as expected. Our order was for a rack of ribs, brisket plate, and pulled pork plate with an order of okra. Our ribs came as the TOUGHEST ribs we have ever been served anywhere. We pointed this out to our waitress and she offered a sharper knife… really? Didn’t help at all the meat would not come off the bone and she reported this to the management. We were also charged too much for the rack of ribs… menu stated $ 13.00. We were charged 19.99. Only until we were on our way out did the manager approach us (not at the table). I packed up the ribs to take to our dogs plus some pulled pork I didn’t finish. The manager stated when the ribs come out at 5 they don’t have enough time to sit and finish. I asked her if she wanted to see them. She said oh I know. So the KNOWINGLY serve tough not fully cooked ribs and then over charge you. I asked for an adjustment on the bill and she said I was taking them home & be sure to point out the ribs on our next visit that they would make it right. Really? If you don’t take care of your customers while they are there, what makes you think we will return?
I am totally surprised and disappointed with this lack of service and poor attitude. We will not be back. This place needs to learn what real customer service is about.

I come here about every 2 – 3 months. The food is good and the prices are reasonable at lunch. My waitress was friendly and knowledgable. After about a 40 minutes, i finally asked if my food was anywhere near coming out to my table. She went to check on it, walked by me a couple of times (she did not give me an update), and 10 minutes later my food was at my table. My best guess was that originally, she never put my order in. If that was the case, it would have been nice to be told that she messed up!!! Instead, i will take a few months off from going to Sonny’s.

I love these ribs, smoked chicken wings and fried okra! Unfortunately, it ends there. The servers at this place are HORRIBLE! Excellent customer service is non existent. Too bad I’m big on customer service. When I go back I’ll be sure to go through drive thru so I won’t have to leave them a tip for bad service!

This place has good pulled pork. I love smoked pig butt and this is the place to go, The sides are kind of high for the size of the portions unless you order a dinner then you get plenty. OK more than I care to eat.
The service is usually good but sometimes reminds me of being at a hair cutting place with the banter of the waitresses. The service is usually fast and the food is fixed to order. One thing to remember is don’t go here after church because people with kids flock here and no one wants to hear your brat screaming or beating on the table and for that matter kicking the freckin seat. Sometimes I would like to smack a parent in the head for allowing this to go on in a restaurant. I didn’t have your kids and I should not be subjected to their misbehaving.
I for one would like the building to burn so they could/​would clean it and start over. It always feels greasy to me. I know the food is good or clean since they have «A» ratings from the health department. I have been in other Sonny’s and it must be the wood or something that feels or looks dirty.
Avoid the one in Jackson. One time we ordered and the drinks were not out yet. As my brother-​in-​law passes going to the bathroom a lady was tasting the teas to see which was sweet or not.

If you are grabbing a to go plate from the drive through, be prepared to wait. Also the price of the sides are ridiculous for what you get. Prepare yourself and your wallet. However, the food is good!

This place has decent ribs. The pulled brisket a little weird. Maybe the sliced brisket would have been better. The pulled pork tastes exactly like Kalua pig. Corn is a must. Beans are no good. Portions are HUGE!!!
