It was. A bitter sweet experience because I had three items to be alterned .two were absolutely beautiful. I was so happy I even didn’t mind paying a higher price .but what I didn’t realize was one of my skirts was totally misconstrued and alternate totally wrong the bitter part of my experience was instead of her listening to my complaint she totally try to tell me that I didn’t know that my skirt that I have been wearing for more t3months wasn’t the way I was saying. come on people especially woman know there own cloths .I will never go back to that place ever again I was very mistreated .and if you read this review please don’t ever go there thank you for reading. y review

Lucy is very pleasant and does excellent work. I had an OBX sweatshirt that I purchased on vacation many years ago and Lucy was able to make the repair in a timely manner.

I moved back to CT just over a year ago and was happy to find a local tailor. I agree customer service is not their forte. They aren’t rude so much as matter of fact. I’m fine with that because I’m not stopping in to hang out — I need a suit dry cleaned or some pants hemmed. Lucy has taken in blazers and suits for me over the year and always done excellent work. They place is generally busy and she tries to get everyone in and out as soon as possible, but I’ve never felt rushed iPod I’ve had concerns or questions on an item. The dry cleaner has always been ready on the date I’m told it will be, and ditto on alterations. I find the tailoring prices to be reasonable and the dry cleaning prices to be better than in the area. I would not hesitate to recommend either service, but I would advise a friend to know what he or she wants altered and speak to her with any questions or concerns rather than just assume everything will work out the way you will imagine it — that seems to make sure you and Lucy are on the same page on your garments.

I’ve been going here for dry cleaning and tailoring services for years, however, the past few months I have been extremely dissatisfied with the way my alterations have been done. The hem lines have not been straight (sloppy) and the fit of my garments are less than stellar. I feel as though Lucy has been rushing to complete the alterations, which then results in poorly completed work. I will be researching new tailors in the shoreline area.

Lucy does great work, have been going to her for years. She has done hemming and alterations for me and has always done a great job. Highly recommended.

I have never been so disappointed with a tailor in my life. I brought my dress in (despite less than stellar Unilocal reviews) to have the hem taken up and a strap tightened. When I was told that the dress was ready, I asked what was the price, and was told $ 80.00. I found this to be completely outrageous to have a hem taken up and a strap tightened. I asked to speak with the owner (Lucy) to ask if there was anything they could do about the price, as it was more than I had EVER spent on dress tailoring and alterations. She ended up hanging up on me. When I called back, she denied hanging up on me, and told me that she would take $ 5 off my alterations.
Bottom line — horrible customer service, the owner is rude and defensive, and the prices are outrageous. Use another tailor.

Well, let me tell you about my experience with Lucy and her EXTREME RUDENESS! Over the past six months, three of my warm-​up jackets have needed new zippers. (Tek Gear to be exact.) So six months ago, I brought one in and was charged $ 10. No problem. Three months ago, I brought another one in and was charged $ 20. Ok… no problem. I understand they recently moved to a new location and maybe they raised their prices… I pay it. A couple weeks ago, I drop off a third jacket to have the zipper replaced. (Now keep in mind these are all separate warm-​up jackets.) They charged me $ 25 this time. I was going to question it, but there were about four or five people behind me and I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. I just figured I would call on Monday and get it all sorted out. All I wanted to know is why all the same exact jackets, that only needed zippers, had increased SIGNIFICANTLY in price over the past six months. That’s it… a very simply question. What started out as a $ 10 repair six months ago, has now gone to $ 25. My concern is that if I need another zipper repaired on a fourth jacket; is that one going to be $ 30 or $ 35? It seems like every time I go there for a zipper repair on the same exact style warm-​up jacket, they are adding on $ 5-​$ 10 each visit. I wasn’t looking for a refund or a credit. I just wanted a LOGICAL EXPLANATION for the increase because in my mind, I just couldn’t justify it. So, Monday morning rolls around and I call Lucy… just my luck… she answers. Well, I NICELY (and I mean NICELY) say, «Hi, I’ve had three zippers replaced on three separate warm-​up jackets over the past six months and I was just wondering why the first one was $ 10, the second one was $ 20 and the third one that I picked up on Saturday was $ 25.» Well, apparently THAT question didn’t NOT resonate well on a Monday morning because she got EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE, started SCREAMING and YELLING something about different jackets need different zippers. I tried to explain that all the jackets are EXACTLY THE SAME, but she was YELLING so loud that all I could hear were the RETCHED tones of her SCREECHING voice. To the point that I couldn’t even understand what she was even saying; nor could I even get a word in. It was so HORRIFIC that I put her on speaker phone in front of all of my coworkers and allowed her to HUMILIATE and EMBARRASS herself… they were MORTIFIED and APPALLED at the way she was YELLING at me. It was as if she was blaming me and I’m the customer!!! What did I do besides drop off, pick up and pay? No one could even understand WHAT she was saying because she was SCREAMING into the phone at me. WHAT BUSINESS OWNER DOES THAT??? Not one that wants to keep customers… especially since ALL of her reviews SUCK!!! Maybe she should smarten up and the next time a customer calls and POLITELY asks a question, have the staff handle it and maybe ALL of her reviews wouldn’t be in the toilet. My advice: bring your clothes elsewhere because with a mouth like that, SHE’S going to need all the thread she’s got to SEW THAT MOUTH SHUT because her customer service and people skills REALLY SUCK!

Never had a problem with Lucy, but the young girl at the front with the dark hair was one rude bitch. I’d never had a suit tailored before. I walked in with my suit and naturally, I asked what do to/​where to go, she pointed where to go and then rolled her eyes at me. SHE ROLLED HER FUCKING EYES. That’s my first impression? Go fuck yourself

Brought my wedding gown to be steamed prior to wedding. Needed to be touched up after travelin so far. Woman opened zipper of garment bag without taking care — just pulled zipper down fast and managed to catch delicate petals on my gown in the zipper. Would advise against leaving your gown with them!

Yes, I’d have to agree with the other Unilocaler that customer service isn’t their forte.
I had some work done recently and they never called me to let me know it was done. Even though «Call customer» was explicitly written on my invoice.
That’s not the bad part. The bad part is they didn’t offer one apology. Nothing. Nada. Not a «I’ll knock a buck off your total» or «Here’s a Tootsie Roll kid for your trouble».
But I’m not at all surprised. During my first visit, the atmosphere seemed a little chaotic. It was almost like they had other things on their minds and couldn’t be bothered with my instructions. I repeated my instructions three times and had them even write them down just to be safe. My advice is you do the same.

I have never been so dissatisfied by a tailor in my life. Not only did the tailor do a horrible job, she was also so rude. When I arrived to have my bridesmaid dress fitted, the tailor (who is the owner, I’m assuming Lucy) was really nice, outgoing, and very complimentary. When she started to make some the alterations, she was using thick safety pins rather than the more thin and delicate pins. This concerned me a little bit as she pierced the fabric but I figured hey she’s the professional not me, she must know what she’s doing. After that, she altered 3 pairs of jeans for me. When I returned a little less than a week later, I went and tried on the dress. First off, she took in some fabric in the front-​fine, however, because of it she had managed to sew it up so that the lining was now hanging over the seam. Then as I looked at lining, it was all pulled and frayed and then that was when I noticed a nice hole in the dress… the size of a hefty safety pin… hmmmm… When I brought both of these things to Lucy’s attention, she immediately became defensive and told me the dress was cheap and that there was no hole (p.s.a $ 300 Jenny Yoo dress). Shocked, not only by how rude she was but also by the fact that you would assume that a tailor would have decent eye sight; I showed her the hole again. Her response– «that’s how the dress is, I did nothing, that’s how I got it». Really!!! So, she’s to tell me that my brand new dress that was still in it’s packaging had a hole in the front that was clearly made by a safety pin? Ugh, it makes me so made just thinking about her attitude. She fixed the lining and then gave the dress to her assistant and then the assistant rang me out. At that point, I expressed how unhappy I was about the hole and the overall alteration (she made an extra seam on both straps instead of sewing it at the original seam), the assistant seemed sympathetic until Lucy stormed over to me and said «it’s fine, there’s nothing there, that’s how it is!» and then stormed off. Talk about quality customer service! I paid full priced and vowed never to go back. When I got home, 2 of the 3 pairs of jeans were hemmed fine, but the 3 which I had asked for her to create a similar thick hem was done poorly, the hem was really uneven– thankfully the hem was of dark color so you can’t see it unless you look closely. I don’t think I would have been so angry about my experience here if Lucy had had a different attitude and if she had made some kind of attempt to please me as her customer. I definitely will never go back and will be telling the bridal shop that referred me to her how unhappy I was :(
