The burgers are exquisite, the shakes are tasty, and the fries are cooked to perfection. Prices at this McDonalds are slightly higher than the restaurant’s in-town location but that’s what you pay for the luxury of convenience.(The closest in-town McDonalds is Route 1 Branford Hill). Occasionally it’s nice to splurge on the higher prices and act like a big shot in front of friends. That’s how roll. Often the parking lot at this rest stop can become nasty and by nasty I mean completely littered with trash. It’s a shame. If out-of-state travelers judge Connecticut by its rest stops alone then they must think our entire state is one gigantic garbage dump. But maybe that’s not entirely a bad thing, it may comfort New Jersey travelers into making them feel at home(yes, I have no love for«Jersey» drivers). One thing I should mention about using the parking lot… I recommend being particularly careful after 10:00PM. That’s when all the weirdo’s come out. I’m not kidding. Has your mind ever curiously wondered while driving I-95 late at night, «Who are these other people I’m sharing the road with?» Well stopping at McDonalds Eastbound store #7456 is your opportunity to find out. Customer watching here at night is definitely amusing, to say the least. You can hear languages that you never heard before, see fashions you didn’t think existed, and at the same time get entertained by a large family of 10 as they spend an entire 15 minutes trying to decide what to order. Yes, good times can be had at McDonalds on the highway. In my opinion, you’re missing out on the whole I-95 epicurean travel experience if you go through the drive-thru. When you drive away, you will probably ask yourself the same question that I always ask myself,… «What’s going on… Am I the only normal person driving on all of I-95 or is this rest stop one central magnet for all of the world’s rejects???»
