love the Waiting Station in Branford! There is always something new on the daily menu, some thing I would never think to eat yet, wow, they were delicious! I enjoyed the food, service, cleanliness, etc so much that I bought a few gift certificates for my doctor and a few friends so they can also enjoy the delicious food, atmosphere, etc. Keep up the great work and I will keep coming back again and again!!!

Good food. Menu that changes. Service decent. Coffee good. Double check your check. Owners are very nice locals. Enough to keep me going back.

I am very hesitant to give places one star, but… I ordered the eggs benedict. 10 minutes later the waitress apologizes, they have no poached eggs, thats not a big deal, I switch to the bacon breakfast sandwich that was mentioned as a special. 5 minutes after my switch another waitress comes to tell my girlfriend they have no mushrooms for her mushroom omelet, she makes a substitution and we move one, growing justifiably skeptical of the staff’s competency… But still not really caring, breakfast is usually fun no matter what, just like pop pop used to say. The whole time there is the incredibly cliché bad diner attitude/environment, mostly curt responses and dry coffee cups begging for a refill. For the record, the coffee was crap. As for scenery, there is a difference between«old-fashioned» and just straight up «dirty.» The food is C+ at best. For: 2 Coffees A bacon, egg and cheese croissant A vegetable omelet Aaaand a tiny plate of truly unimpressive home fries that nobody at any point ordered(I figured it must have come with either the omelet or the special sandwich) …$ 29 – 30(29 and some change) I didn’t realize Branford was now considered part of Tribeca. So if I were to include my customary 20% tip I would be leaving $ 36.00 on the table??? I enjoy Unilocal because it is a place for customers to truly appraise the value of a product/experience. This is a 20 dollar meal, pre-tip, and not one I would come back for even at that price. If you want charge boutique breakfast prices then step up the quality of legitimately everything in your restaurant.

Stopped in to this cute little diner for a quick bite and it did not disappoint. Service was prompt, my server was very sweet and attentive, food tasted like I went to a friend’s house and she made delicious frittatas for breakfast. Loved the casual dining experience. I came by myself and didn’t feel lonely at all.

One of may«faves». Love the old school feeling of the inside the and the family who runs it. The food is delicious and their specials are always changing. The muffins are unbelievable — so big you need to split.

They are not false advertising with their name; you will be waiting for some indeterminate amount of time to be served water. Terrible service, and by terrible I mean none. My wife and I sat at a table with our three children for 20 minutes, the waitress made eye contact with us multiple times within that period. Nothing was said to us that she or the kitchen was behind, and we were not served anything. No drinks(not even water), no questions about what we would like to eat. The staff is either terrible at their jobs or doesn’t want kids at their establishment, that’s the only conclusion I could muster. I don’t care how good the food might be if I’m not even given the opportunity to have it. The only other time we came here 4 years we had the same terrible experience, so while it wasn’t the first time we came here it will certainly be our last. Thanks for nothing.

FILTHY! If I had to use one word to describe this place it would be filthy… others have called this place dated but there is a big difference between dirty and dated. Water from the hand sink was filled in glass VOSS bottles and then filled your glass from there… I guess to make you think you were getting fancy water. I watched owner(maybe) touch money, touch food, touch her hair, clean dirty plates, touch more money and then touch more food. Never washed her hands once! And the hand sink had no soap or paper towel near it anyway. Customers going through the kitchen to use the bathroom walking past exposed bread sitting on dirty counter. Owner? Dark hair, thin lady was dressed like a slob, hole in the side of her shirt, just very sloppy looking. Also my BEC was served on a hamburger bun, gross. Will never go back. There’s nostalgic and then there is old and dirty and this place is the later of the two!

Cash only!!! I love their home made muffins, especially the corn muffin. This is a great breakfast spot, so much better than Scotty’s which is down the street. Their specials are usually a great choice. I always get an omelet. The portion size is great.

Not great… not even good. Eggs were runny and French toast soggy. Waitress was attentive but terse. Scotty’s down the street is better but overall I’d venture a little further out for breakfast.

Went to this place based on Unilocal’s giving it a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. Wut the hell is wrong with Unilocal?!!This place sucked! I would barely give it 2 stars! 1) They burnt my toast. 2) The Home fries were mushy. 3) The coffee cups were from a child’s doll set. 4) And I asked for a ham & egg on a hard roll & instead of putting it on a regular hard roll, they put it on a hamburger bun. The place is pretty pitiful.

Great spot in center of town, a favorite of mine for Saturday breakfast. Small place but very delicious breakfast menu: omelets(full of special offerings) waffles, muffins, delicious fruit and coffee. Wonderful old photos of the family who still cook and work there. Can be busy on Sat morning. A Branford treasure!

First time here and we went with a group of seven. The waitress was wonderful. Very friendly. The service was a bit slow but the food was worth the wait. The omelette selection was great and the muffins were out of this world. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Tried this place for the first time for breakfast last week; menu items look unique. Blueberry Coconut muffin is all I can recommend… Eggs Benedict was below average; not much flavor… except for the ham which was on the edge of spoiling. Potoato pancakes were hard; also lacked and real flavor. but the the clincher was SPOILED Apple sauce; blew my mind. You really have to work at it to serve spoiled apple sauce. My sausage, mushroom and cheese omelette was fairly decent, however, was over cooked; not a fan of overcooked eggs. I wouldn’t go back purely for the lack of trust in their quality constrol/food handling in the kitchen.

My wife, daughter and I were in town to visit family this past weekend and we thought it’d be nice to stop and grab some breakfast before making our visit. After checking out Unilocal for a good spot we figured we’d give the Waiting Station a try. The Food: I ordered a grilled blueberry muffin to start(my breakfast staple and somewhat of a benchmark for me for breakfast places) and eggs benedict for my meal. My wife had the lox salmon plate and my daughter had a pancake with a side of sausage(since the pancakes don’t come with a side). When the muffin arrived I was a bit surprised to find that it wasn’t a blueberry muffin but instead was a lemon poppyseed blueberry muffin. They were next to each other on the wall but I assumed that they were two different types of muffins since I had never before heard of a lemon poppyseed muffin with blueberries. Regardless, it was a little under-grilled and wasn’t entirely warmed through, but it wasn’t bad. As for the benedict, the eggs were poached perfectly but unfortunately the hollandaise was spectacularly bland. The home fries that came as the side picked up a bit of onion flavor from the grill and were tasty, although they could’ve used another minute or two on the flat top as well. The pancake my daughter got was a bit flat and sad as were the two sausage patties she got on the side. It tasted fine, but in all honesty I make much better pancakes from scratch at home. My wife said the lox plate was good but reminded me that all they have to do is put some stuff on a plate and toast a bagel. My wife also ordered an iced coffee which she said tasted like coffee that you’d buy from a grocery store and make at home. It was served in a small glass and had her begging me to find another coffee place as soon as we left. The Service: This was a Saturday morning around 10:30 and they looked as though they’ve never seen so many customers in their lives. This small establishment was packed and our waitress was very frazzled. I can only assume that they were short staffed. The frantic pace she and the one other woman who would occasionally help out had did not lend itself to a relaxing Saturday morning breakfast. I would have appreciated being informed that the blueberry muffin I was hoping for would in fact be a lemon poppyseed muffin with blueberries. On the bright side, we were never left waiting for any service. The Atmosphere: Cute place from the outside. The seating is a little tight inside but still comfortable. There are some cool pictures and articles on the walls that help tell the story of the restaurant’s history. The Bottom Line: The Waiting Station has been around at this location for decades and it appears to be a staple of the area. Normally I love places like this but here the food is pedestrian and slightly overpriced. The next time we plan on grabbing breakfast in Branford will definitely try someplace different.

Had a great Sunday brunch here. I ordered one of the day’s specials off the chalkboard — which seems like the route to take. Had an omelet with blue cheese, spinach and tomato. It was delicious but enormous — could only finish about half along with half the wheat toast. Also had a coffee which was your standard diner coffee but brewed fresh, so it was delicious as well. Staff was super friendly and the place was filled with locals where it felt everyone knew each other, which was quaint and made for a warm, fuzzy experience. My only complaint was that the service was a little slow and sloppy due to being understaffed. Otherwise, the experience was great and I plan on returning!

From the street, this quaint little restaurant can be easy to miss with the words«Coffee Shop» in carved wooden letters above the picture window which carries the eatery’s name. But make no mistake, while the coffee is good, this hidden gem has a lot more to offer than a piping hot cup of java. In the summer, you will find, as we initially did, a sidewalk chalkboard listing the days fresh muffins(which are awesome btw) alongside water bowls set outside by the owner to help our canine friends hydrate(nice, and thoughtful touch) while on walks along the charming New England town green in which the restaurant resides. Family owned and operated, The Waiting Station, is one of my favorite places to have breakfast in Connecticut period! While not inexpensive, the portions are generous, fresh, and served hot right off the stove from the kitchen which is only feet away from the tables in this cozy little restaurant… No heating lamps here! Every meal is prepared by the owner herself, and served with pride by her daughters who make you feel right at home, and like you were long-time regulars the first time you come in. Daily specials are listed on a large chalkboard which shares the walls with beautiful landscape photography(created by the owners son), along with framed newspaper reviews of the restaurant which date back longer than I’ve been walking and talking. Seating is limited, as can be the daily fresh ingredients, so come early! Additionally, they only accept cash so come prepared, but don’t worry if not there is a bank with an ATM only a few steps away, but bear in mind, this place s addictive… Come once, and you’re likely to list it as one of your favorites too!

Walk in and you feel like you’ve gone back in time. You can hear the old cash register working, and the old tunes on the radio. The walls are plastered with local news paper articles about the place, the owners, or the regulars. The food is delicious. Simply delicious. They have all the classics that you would want for breakfast or lunch and it is as fresh as can be! The home fries are some of the best I’ve ever had. Red potatoes with plenty of spices and paprika made extra crunchy on the flat top. Be warned: Cash only!

This is such an absolutely lovely place. It is unique in its décor and beyond warm with atmospheric charm and friendly staff. Dori especially. She’s so friendly and so attentive and very charismatic. It was very nice to have her serve us! This place is family owned and her mother cooks all the food. The breakfast sandwich with sausage, egg, and cheese was one of the best i’ve ever had. It feels like you’ve stepped back in time when you walk into the Waiting Station. I can’t wait to return.

This is a solidly average and small local diner. The waitstaff appears to be family which may explain why they struggled to keep up despite only having a few tables each. Several times neighboring tables had to get up to ask for things. The prices were a little above average, more than what expected to pay for what I got. It is nice to be right on the green, though I’d never go out of my way to come here. Note – cash only

Wow. Still thinking about that bacon, egg and cheese on a roll. You don’t get ‘em like that anymore. I was pretty hungover craving grease for a long journey. A quick stop for coffee and food was a success. Enter in this place. It’s like a blast from the past in a time where everyone knows your name, the same ladies have been serving up food for 4 – 5 decades and the food is cheap and damn good as well as unhealthy. We get two bacon, egg and cheeses for like $ 7 or $ 8. We come back in 7 minutes and they hand us our bag. When I say they, I mean the three ladies that are prob in their 50s/60s. We forgo sitting down to eat, though the booths and tables looked pretty comfy with old relics on the wall — newspaper and magazine cutouts from over the years highlighting how awesome this place is. Our bacon, egg and cheeses were amazing. So gooey with cheese that was everywhere cooked into the egg almost. The bacon was charred crisp and the 2 – 3 slices were as well covered in that gooey American cheese. The roll was soft and served as the perfect vessel for the bacon, the egg and the goo, also known as cheese. Damn. This was made with pride, love and attention and damn well deserves that shining 5 star, job well done, gold star appreciation. Definitely a great spot!
