Steak ‘n Shake

This was the worst experience I have ever had at thus restaurant and I plan to report to corporate to get management changed. We waited 20 minutes to be seated with out any acknowledgement from any one even though the manager was standing right by flipping burgers. When we did get a table it was 10 minutes before we got a waitress to it. She brought my salad right out with the wrong dressing then she proceeded to do other things and had to be reminded that we did not have any drinks yet and she had not brought my dressing. Some one else brought our food out and we were missing an item (they ran and got it) everyone at the table had way different amounts of fries on there plate. My daughter ordered the kids macaroni and cheese and there was hardly anything in the bowl. Only brought it to the managers attention he threw a fit and had one of the other managers come over and tell us that they everything comes pre-​portioned and that was the exact portion that we were entitled to and that if we wanted another one but the other manager would have to pay for it but he wasn’t going to just give us one. We did not care about paying for another one we were happy to do that we just wanted to bring it to their attention that the portion sizes are not consistent. I have been to steak and shake before my daughter has ordered the same thing and there was a lot more macaroni and cheese in the bowl. If the supplier sending them the improper portion pouches that is not our concern. I asked both members of the management team to look up the balls see the difference in the amount of macaroni and cheese that were in each bowl and they refused telling me that I was incorrect and that I was trying to get something for nothing. Our waitress never came back to our table to refill our drinks until the very end and of course we were already preparing to leave. They had her split between tables all over, but I observed her doing more non-​waitress activities than waitressing. When I asked the manager for his name so that I could report the problems that we had had with the restaurant he yelled at me and told me that I shouldn’t have gotten a free macaroni and cheese. We did not get a free macaroni and cheese in fact we gave the money to the other manager so that she can pay for it since she told us that she was paying for out of her own pocket. Our bill was not correct we ordered a child soda and were charged for an adult. I asked for a salad instead of french fries and then I would pay the up charge and I was charged for the salad and french fries. There weren’t even a whole lot of people in the place as compared to other times that we have been there in the height of the season. I have never been treated so poorly by management in a restaurant in my entire life bar none! The food was sub par. The salad was brown (that’s typical of steak n shake being that they are a burger place). The guacamole on my hamburger was past its prime and the burgers were not of their usual quality although all in all it was the same taste as usual. I will be contacting corporate about this and not returning to this restaurant until the management is changed.

The service was not very good at all. We tried to order a milkshake, and the waitress told us it would be an hour and a half before we got our shake because they only had one person to make shakes. We saw AT LEAST 35 people leave because no one even acknowledged that they were waiting in line. And there were nine tables empty. Some of the waitresses were saying «we aren’t going to serve anyone else» an hour after people stayed in line. Then the manager came out and said «yes we are.» We left without getting our food after waiting 45 minutes. I will not be back to this restaurant and Steak and Shake is one of my favorites.

THE WORST SERVICE I have ever seen.
Mr manager — give your employees a service seminar, please! Ruining this Steak ‘n Shake. Use to be my favorite.
Slow and rude.

Just witnessed a line out the door with 10 tables open. Waitress spit all over me. Haven’t got a refill in 25 minutes, no food yet. After being here 30 minutes, just found out that it will be another hour before we get our food.
Just witnessed, as I type this, someone take their plate up front and tell the manager he can’t eat this garbage, manager rolled their eyes.
Feel like Ashton kutcher should pop out and say I have been pranked.
This is absolutely HORRIFIC.
I could write a novel at how bad this place is. Wish I could show you guys a video. 35 people just walked out in unison.

I am a big fan of Steak n’ Shake and this one is pretty OK. Service can be SLOW but the food is usually pretty tasty.
It can get loud when large groups are in there but that is to be expected. The location is very convenient.
If they could get their food and service a little more consistent this would be a 4 star place in my book.

My wife loves the orange freezes, so we try to go to Steak and Shake when we see one during our traveling. We got there around 1:30 thinking we’d miss the lunch crowd. There were 4 groups in front of of us and no hostess to seat folks. The manager came out and yelled at the wait staff to get someone up there to seat people … He was busy helping the cook staff. We finally were seated. Ordered our freezes and food. Freezes came fast. It took almost 30 minutes to get our simple double cheeseburger or should I say my wife’s cheeseburger. We ordered the same thing and they considered it a duplicate and only made one. I sat there for 35 minutes waiting for a cheeseburger … Watching the hostess station back up, watching customers get up from their table to approach wait staff about at least getting their drinks, listening to orders being brought back because they were wrong. Then had to wait 10 minutes to pay my bill because no one was running the cash register … This has to be the worst run S&S I’ve every been at and I’ve been going to S&S since the 60s

Really poor drive thru service! Ordered our food at 10:36 and then sat at the window for 20 minutes!!! What kind of a drive thru is that! Then the manager didn’t even act like anything was wrong after 20 minutes didn’t say sorry, didn’t even seem like he cared and when I mentioned it he gave me this look of I have no clue what your talking about. Food was fine but fast food? Yeah right…

My wife absolutely loves Steak ‘n Shake. So we make it a point to visit every time we are in Branson. This trip was no different. Typically if I have to wait 15 – 20 minutes to get a table I leave. But this is a treat for my wife so as with every other visit we waited about 15 – 20 minutes to be seated. we had two larger parties in front of us and we are ourselves were a party of six. This time, there must have been three or four families who came in after us, saw the line and left. That is unfortunate for a business as that is lost revenue. Otherwise, for the price their burger and fries are very reasonable. My wife and kids loves their shakes. Overall, I am always quite satisfied with the service and the food. I know exactly what to expect and for the price think they are very reasonable. Guarantee we will be back.

Took a few minutes to be seated because we were a group of 6. Bacon lovers burger was awesome! We all ate, had sodas, and a shake a piece for under $ 66 not including tip. We really enjoyed it! The kids had plenty of choices of food! We will be back!

I worked for a Steak ‘n Shake in the late ‘90s as a Soda Jerk. So please forgive me if my review reflects extra horribly on the shakes.
High points:
–Cajun Burger was ON FUEGO. 9/​10, would definitely eat again.
Low points:
–Floor in the front of the house was filthy, and I pretended that this fact doesn’t hold any implications about the cleanliness of the back of the house.
–Three members of our party ordered shakes with the meal. These shakes were delivered to the table ten minutes before the food, and they were runny. I know they hand-​dip frozen ice cream to make shakes. Two possibilities are that they died at the pass, or they put too much milk in them.
–My wife ordered a double steak burger with no onions, and she ended up with a plain burger. Meat and cheese. The picture had onion, tomato, lettuce, and pickles.
–After the burger came with no condiment at all on it, she asked for mustard, which wasn’t delivered to the table until the burger was half eaten ten minutes later.
–I asked for my burger to come with cheese fries with the cheese on the side. When they were delivered, the cheese was on the side AND all over my fries. I didn’t have to bring this up to the waitress, she brought it up to me, and apologized about it, blaming it all on the cooks. She was probably right, but it’s kind-​of her job to make it right, no?
–When our waitress brought me the tab, she hovered over me, never once leaving me alone to fill out her tip. I piddled for a minute with my phone, then when I realized she wasn’t going to leave me alone, I calculated 20% and tipped. This is my standard tip, not that I think she earned it, as this is likely the worst service I’ve received this year at any restaurant.
–We ordered two shakes to go, and 20 minutes later, they came out. We ordered them 10 minutes before we were done eating, so it left an awkward «I wish we could leave» moment.
–My Cookies ‘N Cream shake is supposed to have a whole cookie on top of the cream, which they didn’t give me. I know, because that’s why I chose this shake. It’s the only one I ever order from S’nS.

HORRIBLE! Not clean, really bad service, and the employees run the resteraunt! The managers are absolutely scared of the black wanna be gangster employees! Wow!
2 elderly couples got disrespected right in front of the entire resteraunt, and the managers laughed it off… no way this is a relevant stake n shake. they are all much better than this one! STAY AWAY

Avoid this store until the Management is replaced!
My family and I tried to eat here tonight! Absolutely horrible! First, we waited 15 minutes to be seated. We ended up cleaning off 4 tables for our group to sit down ourselves. After 45 minutes, food finally came out but it was completely messed up, and missing 5 of 18 meals.
One worker came out of the kitchen and actually cussed at my brother while we were trying to formally file a complaint with the manager.
The manager (Gary) first agreed to comp the meals for all their admitted mistakes, but then «changed his mind» and forced us to pay for some meals but not all! He refused to give names of supervisors and when I asked him to comp all the meals like he offered, he said he’d call the cops if we didn’t pay for 5 of the 18 meals. Which we did pay for and we did tip the waitress (it was not her fault the management was the worst in fast food history).
If I owned this franchise location, I would fire Gary and hope the location could be cleaned up and ran correctly.

The People here in Branson Missouri are PIGS, the restaurants ONLY CATER TO LOCALS as they continue to ignore Outsiders like myself. I know that I am NEVER COMING BACK TO BRANSON MISSOURI EVER AGAIN

First time eating here last night. Awesome! Our waitress was very nice and prompt, the food was great and the price was amazing! Definitely will eat here again!

The food was good but it took a long time to be seated and the bathrooms were incredibly dirty so was the floors

I’ve always loved Steak ‘N Shake. The food is great, as well as the service. I highly recommend the Jalepeno Crunch burger (my absolute fav). My only con is the bathrooms. They could’ve used more maintenance. When I walked in, the trashcan was overflowed with paper towels and the floor surrounding it was covered in used paper towels. Thus, not leaving a very good impression.

Good, inexpensive dinner for our family. We had burgers and chicken from the $ 4 menu. Convenient for take out although the drive thru was pretty slow.

Ate here night before last… late evening… order taker didn’t listen long enough to get our order correct… wasn’t impressed to eat a meat, bread and mayo burger.

Waited 15 minutes just to be seated, the place was only half full. Simple order fries and a shake for four. Took another 15 minutes to get ten minutes later shakes showed up half melted. Will never go back. This location needs better management.

Obviously it’s super cheap and fast food so I don’t expect a lot. It took forever to get our food and they forgot part of the order although they charged for it (they took it off of bill). Would’ve said something but waiter was too busy with too many tables. Need better communication and/​or better management. Not waiter’s fault.

Not sure what the prior reviewers experience was but obviously went on a bad day. We had great service. And when we arrived at 10:45 am, I was pleasantly surprised that we could order off the breakfast or lunch menu which made my group very happy as three of us wanted breakfast and one a cheeseburger. The breakfast was great and its so reasonable, especially on kids meals, you can’t go wrong. Our drinks stayed filled. We only had one hiccup as the waitress must have misunderstood me on a couple ordered items but she quickly corrected it, it was not a big deal. So we waited two extra minutes for a side of sausage and some pancakes. It was a busy place but we were attended to as needed. The staff was working hard.
