You guys are awesome! Granted I did become a bit tipsy as the night rolled on which probably contributes slightly to my rating. Drinks are reasonable priced with some pretty clever concoctions. Tito the bartender on site was awesome, very personable, and funny as all heck. I don’t know which story I liked better personally, the tattoo one or the lumberjack/ninja/pirate one. The dj dude was pretty chill as well. Saturday night there can be fun, as the crowd is fairly diverse and pretty welcoming in general. This is a great bar overall, and I will not hesitate to stop by when I am back in town. PS-If you guys find my AMEX card that I left their, can you please cut it up lol. Thanks again for a great time!

Scott W. is correct when he notes that Metropolis has radically changed; one friend of my refers to it as «Arktropolis»., a pun referring to the owners’ other bar, Arkham, which is a low-rent place to hang out. The remodel occurred after St Patrick’s Day 2014; I think it took less than a month to re-do. There”s a pool table downstairs, which for some reason is hot as a bakery(this was not the case when they had big fluffy pillows) and the players don’t know the rules of the game. It’s quite loud and has now become a noise nuisance to nearby residents as Elliot Street is a big echo chamber. Monday night is Open Mic, currently the only one in downtown. While it used to be overly loud, it is now tamer than the other nights it is open(everyday except Sunday). Boy it is noisy,. and that’s not taking into account the patrons who step outside for a smoke and a loud conversation. One friend goes in with ear plugs because the juke box or the DJ or the band is absurdly loud for a small bar. What really is irritating is that the number listed on Unilocal!is not working. If you want to show your backside, this is clearly the place for you. If you want some civility and chill out while having a drink, stay away… the stupid is strong in this one.

This place used to be a wonderful establishment, a real gem. All of the great reviews for this place are now talking about an establishment that really doesn’t exist anymore. They have apparently completely changed their theme, menu, décor and ambiance. We went to Metropolis a few months ago, and it was a great experience. Great wine bar, great selection. We had a delicious cheese plate. It was one of the better experiences we have ever had. We made a point to return the next time we were in town. We were really looking forward to it. We entered and immediately saw that the place looked different. There is now a large painting of Superman adorning the wall, naked but for a thong. There is also a similar image of Wonder Woman. Neither was particularly well done and both are painted directly on the wall. We asked for a wine menu, we were informed that they have«remodeled» and that they no longer have a wine menu, or carry much wine(interesting that a place called Metropolis Wine Bar does not have a wine menu). We asked about a cheese plate. She said she wasn’t sure about that, she rummaged through the cooler and found a block of cheese. She offered to cut us off a chunk, we declined. We just ordered some beer. She then went and turned on a bunch of flashing blue police style lights. We finished our drinks and got out of there. We were also charged $ 8 a piece for our draft beers, which was a much different than the price that was clearly posted on the wall. They got rid of the game room in the basement too, there is now a pool table instead.

Loved it! Decent wine selection but, the infused vodka was outstanding! The owner served us and was very informative and tentative.

I came here with my parents and a few of their friends. The drink menu had a great selection. It was the bartender’s first night, so there was a bit of a wait in waiting for drinks. Overall, it was a great place to grab a drink before dinner.

One of my favorite bars in town for getting special cocktails and good wine! The downstairs makes you feel very swanky and you can relax in the large chairs and sofa while enjoying a drink and maybe some tapas. If you can get The Slow and Steady which is a great drink they make I like to have when I am there. Also the owners are super nice!

The infusions are awesome. I got the Subtle Tea — lemon honey infused rum served hot in a champagne flute with lavender water. The other infusions looked amazing, I had such a hard time choosing. We stopped in for drinks while waiting for Peter Haven’s across the street to open at six. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it wasn’t at all busy on a Saturday night which I liked a lot.

Really nice little wine bar slightly off the main drag in Brattleboro. We sat at the downstairs bar and enjoyed a couple glasses of wine. The wine selection seemed a little small for a wine bar, but we both enjoyed our selections. The bartender was extremely friendly(and a former fellow New Yorker), and the crowd seemed to mostly be locals which was a nice touch. They also offer an impressive list of tasty looking cocktails and a nice craft brew draft selection, so I would recommend stopping by no matter what you might be looking to drink.

Downstairs is a lovely place to catch up with a friend. Cozy and comfortable and very accommodating bartender before all the kids showed up. Ordered the side car willy and loved it!

This place is wonderful. Great atmosphere coupled with great drinks. There’s an ever-changing set of artwork on the wall, coupled with very pretty decors. The drinks are perfect — pretty strong and super tasty. They have a very cool selection of local and international beers as well as every liquor I could imagine. Think 40-year-old Port.

This place is great! The cocktails were all $ 9, and I got an autumn spritzer. They were generous with the booze, and the menu listed a number of interesting drinks. I’d go back.

I came here with a local friend while I visited. This place is very much my scene! The upstairs is friendly with areas for groups of friends to mingle and laugh. Downstairs has a lounge with comfortable couches and chairs. Their wine selection is extensive, but I enjoyed a nice lemon cocktail that was expertly made. I have no problems recommending this place on just one visit. You will like it, I promise!

Tired of waiting for a table at the way-overcrowded Fireworks, my friend & I stumbled upon this wonderful jewel on a rainy evening. For about 45 minutes, we were the only patrons in the retro mod wine bar that features a full bar, intriguing and inventive tapas and movie set-perfect atmosphere. Downstairs is an intimate lounge with overstuffed chairs, a sink-until-you-think couch and fantastic over-the-top lamps. An ancient rock wall and lipstick red concrete floor make for interesting juxtaposition. Somehow, it all works and you just want to stay and stay and stay. Only downside to the entire experience is the constant low-life traffic in-and-out of the apartment next door. One can only wonder at what kind of transactions are taking place in that transient, low-rent place as one sits watching various life forms on Elliot Street from behind a thick plate-glass window emblazoned with the art nouveau signage of Metropolis Wine Bar.

Nice place, great atmosphere. We weren’t there for the DJ and dancing that happens on the weekends, but it sounded like a great party(according to the regulars).
