It’s ok for once in a while desire for weird food. I usually stop there once a month on my way home back from VT.

One of our favorite restaurants in Brattleboro! We’ve been going here for years, and have never gotten anything that wasn’t tasty. Fresh and flavorful, with vegetarian and vegan options. You must try the boca negra!

This is a quiet and small authentic Mexican restaurant towards the center of this small community. Only about a mile off the highway if you’re passing through, this simple menu offers some unique and delicious choices of some truly great selections. The menu is limited with only a handful of selections but they’re all excellent choices. It’s truly about the dining experience here, which shouldn’t disappoint.

We read great reviews of this place, so we decided to try it out — we were not disappointed! Ambiance is great, dim lighting nice music, Mexican type décor… there are only 8 tables, so make reservations! I had rice and beans with seasonal veggies, which was basically zucchini — it also came with a salad. Lovely flavors and a large portion. It was delicious, simple but filling. I asked the waiter if he could recommend a light, mild beer — and he brought me a Modela Especial — it hit the spot, just what I was hoping for… We also ordered the Boca Negra for dessert, basically a lava cake w/Mexican chocolate with a hint of chili pepper, topped with a light whipped cream. It was outstanding. Will definitely be back.

I really like this place. Excellent chicken empanadas. Definitely call ahead for a reservation as the restaurant is tiny.

I love the authenticity of this restaurant. I always feel like I’m being served from someone’s grandma’s kitchen. My favorites are the panucho(which I don’t get anywhere else) and the beans and rice(which reminds me of growing up in New Orleans). Don’t pass up the Boca Negra! Wow! It’s what dessert is supposed to be like.

What a fantastic surprise to taste such delicious Mayan food while vacationing in Vermont. While the outside of Three Stones looks rather bare and tiny, inside is warm and inviting. Spend some time checking out the artwork and stories hanging on the walls; we learned a lot of interesting information about the owners and Mayan culture! Also, I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time, as all tables were filled. The food was exceptional. Although the menu is small, everything sounded so delicious that it was hard to decide what to order. We started with an a la carte order of one of their THREE types of homemade tortillas. We had to try the panucho, as we had never heard of it before! The menu explained it as a traditional tortilla made for festivals that is stuffed with beans, pan fried, and topped with pulled chicken and pickled onions. It was outstanding! For entrees, I had the chicken tamale and my boyfriend had the special of the night which was enchiladas. Both were hearty portions served with rice and beans and a salad. They were delicious and we decided that you probably could not go wrong with ordering anything on the menu at Three Stones. Also, don’t miss out on the three delicious salsas — mild, medium(jalapeño), and very spicy chili oil. As spice lovers, we were in heaven!

Such a pleasure to be out cycling in the country and know there’s a hip town like Brattleboro awaiting you, where you know there’s going to be at least one downtown restaurant that will cap off a memorable day of exercise in beautiful, rural New England. Three Stones fit the bill perfectly for us. We’d never been there but knew it would be worth a flyer once we stepped inside and were greeted by smiling and dedicated servers. The menu board exhibited countless options that played against Mexican restaurant type. After a pretty long examination, we chose fish tacos, which were exorbitantly tasty, filling and not sloppy to eat. Can’t wait to visit again on my next trip through Brattleboro.

This is a gem in Brattleboro. It would get 5 stars but for the slow service. What I like: No pretense, great food, wonderful ambience. It was also fun to count the number of plaid shirts in the room. .. OK I’m from out of town. But I’d go back! Delicious!

Head off the Main Street and find your way to canal street to Three Stones! I had the chicken tamale and it was delicious! The restaurant doesn’t look like much on the outside but step inside and you are taken away on a Mayan epicurean experience!

Excellent!!! Do not let the outside fool you. It looks like a restaurant does IN Mexico. The outside is very unassuming. You may even drive right by. GOIN! The good is delish! Fresh and not too expensive either. Service is amazing! Definitely will return

Why am I finding all of a sudden really good Mexican food in of all places Vermont?! I think I know why. Excellent locally sourced ingredients, then you get someone in the kitchen who knows what to do with them and it’s magic. Excellent tacos. Homemade. Say no MORE! A basic Uah for me, and off to the races with loaded pork that is so succulent it makes me cry. The chicken is just as good, but not really… cause the pork in this state is destructive to my arteries. Load the toppings. get ALL of it … the red radish touch is a great pickled snap to the flavors as well. but what’s the real winner? The salsas. These were some of the best salsas I’ve ever had. A mild that has cucumber wet freshness along with the tomatillo. The medium rich and meat, with the hot filled with chili and smoke not unlike Chinese chili sauce you’d find at a Chinese restaurant but far different and true to the cooking’s style. Then there is the ultra hot. Really good too. but I oniy dabbled a little. Small very unassuming little spot, but so worth the stop if you need a bite.

I had dinner here in July 2015 while I was in the area on a work trip. The atmosphere was very quaint and cozy. The service was friendly and attentive. I had the pork tamale which was outstanding and I had the chocolate brownie-style dessert which is one of their signature dishes. The food was prepared very authentically and this really separates this place from many Mexican restaurants in the U.S.

A few weeks ago we stopped in at Three Stones after leaving work and talking about this restaurant with coworkers. This was our first time dining here but everyone we spoke with highly recommend this restaurant. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the polite staff and our waitress was incredible. We ended up purchasing their tortillas which were amazing and their empanadas were great as well. The quality overall was delicious and the only critique we had was that the beer we purchased was over the«serve by» date The prices here were a bit high but that is due to the area and quality of the ingredients. Being from a Hispanic family homemade cooking is important and this restaurant meets the build of incredible food.

Tried this place based on a recommendation, and loved it. The exterior of the restaurant gives no hint of the gem inside. Glad we had reservations because the place is small and fills up quickly. The food comes quickly though. Very simple menu. Our group tried the chicken empanadas, the enchilada special(the pork and the chicken), and the pork tamale. Everything was delicious. All our dishes were served with a fresh salad and amazing rice and beans on the side. The dulce de leche was good but not my favorite. We also had the house sangria and a cucumber drink that was incredibly refreshing. If you are passing through Brattleboro, this place is definitely worth stopping in!

Delicious and authentic food served by a beautiful and elegant owner who takes the time to explain the dishes, the craft and her own personal story. Be sure to make reservations, or take your chances at the bar where you are more likely to get to know more about the food. Service was excellent. Food was superb. Brattleboro is lucky to have Three Stones.

There is not a lot more to say about Three Stones than what all the previous reviewers have already said. We took a trip to Brattleboro, VT for few days away from the daily grind. Looking for a unique and wonderful dinner, we found Three Stones and it did not disappoint! Since it was a Wednesday night in January, we were lucky and got a table without reservations(which are recommended). The menu is limited, but that is okay — the selection is perfect. I chose the tamale and was not disappointed. It was fantastic! The mixture of flavors made my palate tingle. Not one for hot, I went with the mild green salsa and found it to be a tasty addition to the tamale. Hubs ordered three tortillas, one of each variety. They were delicious, although the ground beef was his least favorite. The meals were huge and very filling — no room for dessert! I had the red sangria and it wasn’t bad, but not the best I’ve had. Hubs had a 60-minute IPA from Dogfish Head and loved it. Salsa note: I don’t like a lot of heat, I tried medium salsa, but it was too hot for me. Hubs was able to do the hot salsa, but the extra hot was too much for him. If you like good Mayan Mexican food(not Tex-Mex Mexican), definitely give Three Stones a try — it will not disappoint. For just under $ 60(with tip), it was a great meal! Just don’t plan to use American Express(Visa and MasterCard are okay).

Amazing fresh food, tasty sangria and the most friendly service ever. Do yourself and your taste buds a favor and call this place for a reservation. It’s family owned and operated and it shows in the pride they take in everything they do from the home made sauces to the super fresh ingredients. It’s traditional Mayan food cooked just like they would at home and that’s how they treat you, like you were a guest in their home. Slow down, and savor every bite!
