Downtown Brea is the best place to hang out. You get two different crowds. In the morning and afternoon this is the best place to go shopping and at night great bars and restaurants. Definitely love it here. Brea has a good amount of public housing as well for people to live in this area I think is great. If I could live here I would never move! The houses are beautiful and people that live here care about the town. The mall is great with lots of the shops that I frequent and a bit to the edge you have yet another shopping district by Associated Rd. and Kraemer Blvd. on Imperial Hwy. where you have great shops filled with organic goods like Mother’s, Trader Joe’s, Sprouts and Z-Pizza that has great vegetarian and vegan options. I love this place.

Short-n-Sweet: Well-to-do city, is a «everything of orange county» in one city… without the beach. Story time: So now that I got the Duke title(as of 3⁄2014), this place is entitled to an awesome review! First of all, living in the eastern outskirts of LA County half of my life meant this is as close as I got to orange county. For whatever reason, the«Orange Curtain» was heavy and daunting, and we didn’t venture past Brea. Yet, now that I have seen lots of the OC, it’s safe to say this city is a bite size version of what all of OC has to offer: it’s clean; has wealthy areas and industrial ones; beautiful hiking trails; it’s got the chain restaurants; it’s got independent coffee shops and delicious bakery places. JUST naming a few things… =) Mind you, I hate the suburbs. I get tired fast of the chain and box style shops. I want different! I want independent! 75% of the time I find better quality in customer service and what’s offered. Brea does not disappoint. It’s got both the chain shops as well as the independent! Yes! Whew! Two main shopping areas are Birch Street and the Brea Mall. Birch Street near the Civic Center has an incredibly active energy: they do several festivals on this street(Jazz Festival, Farmers Market), and they have the movie theaters there so watch out! The teen mobs may off set your mood! As for the Mall, it’s definitely one of the top malls people will talk about even in LA County. Many of us from the OC see it so often and underestimate it, but it is so much better and a model example If the only city LA East people get to visit is Brea, they wouldn’t be doing too bad!

Brea is a great city, there are so many different reasons why I love coming to this city, here are a few. Pros: The streets are nicely paved; compared to Fullerton and La Habra. It’s filled with new business such as clothing stores, restaurants, thrift stores, and markets. I personally enjoy the farmers market held on birch street it is a great way to get fresh fruits and veggies. Brea also holds a lot of FREE events and well as paid events. The city is very clean and the houses are beautiful all year round, especially at Christmas time. They also have a decent size mall. Cons: Brea Police are merciless to everyone. You get pulled over, without question you’re getting a ticket. This is probably why the city is so mild; law enforcement is everywhere.
