Jake is a very Awesome Instructor with special abilities to work with disabled students which was my interaction with him. I would give him a 10 star Disabled friendly business rating as I can’t think of a person with needs he couldn’t bring value to their life from child to adult he’s just got what it takes. I’d in fact Love to see him offer some much needed classes specifically to disabled residents as physical fitness combined with mental is an awesome area needed for this OC population. I found that he was safe to share very private delicate needs of his student who feared sharing these things due to bad past experiences with people & that he really cared. The student was one who has been doing these types of classes for many years so I hope that he will be able to somehow also continue as even the Drs felt Jake specifically was the right person for him & that the time he had been there he showed improvement & was very happy. I wanted to thank Jake in a public forum since we all agreed he deserves it for everything he did for this person we all care about so much. I’m also happy to give a direct review about Jake if contacted through Unilocal to validate this review or if u have questions if u have a person with needs & want to get a more personal review.

If you’re looking for a place to learn how to defend yourself this is the place. This school is for all levels of experience from novice to advance. What I like about this school is that the core foundation is Gracie Combative’s(Street Defense). You must first learn how to defend yourself with street applicable techniques before you can move on to the more sportive aspect of Jiu Jitsu. Some schools only concentrate only on the sportive side and you lose the true essence of Jiu Jitsu as a Martial Art and form of self defense. I have always been interested in Jiu Jitsu since watching the the first UFC and seeing the little guy(Royce Gracie) control and submit much bigger opponents with technique and leverage, but have been afraid to train due to some bad past experiences at previous gyms. I have trained jiu jitsu at other martial arts schools and would not be given any true instructions other then just«roll bro» from there I would then proceed to get smashed and tapped for the entirety of the class which led to unnecessary injuries. I truly didn’t feel like I was learning anything besides being a grappling dummy which made it not fun. Thankfully I found this place after researching online for a good bit and can’t be happier with the decision I made to join up. Jake is an exceptional instructor and teacher who has a way of breaking down the techniques in way that anybody can understand. Jake really promotes a healthy learning environment with no ego which spreads to the rest of the students. I have never been to any training environment with such great training partners who just want to help me get better. So if you every thought about training Jiu Jitsu but were afraid this is the place to go, you’ll feel at home from day one. I hope to see you on the mats

I believe this is a great place to train. The quality of instruction, welcoming environment, and clean school are what bring me back several times a week. Jake clearly communicates the techniques so as to grant anyone the ability to learn them. My focus coming in was to learn how to legitimately defend myself. It’s been a fantastic journey through a very systematic course. I’ve come to experience this school as a friendly, cooperative place to learn and get in better physical shape. Without hesitation, I would highly encourage anyone to stop by and take a look for themselves. Life is better with jiu jitsu.

My two sons and I take classes at Gracie Jiu Jitsu Brea. From the first time I waked in I felt welcomed. The instructor, Jake is amazing. He really knows his stuff and has a gift for teaching the art. Jake can keep my kids motivated and engaged through class teaching them techniques all while having fun. I am currently taking the woman’s empowered classes. I am learning life saving techniques, building confidence, getting in shape and having lots of fun. I highly recommend Gracie jiu jitsu Brea for men, woman and children of all ages. You won’t be disappointed!

I have been training Gracie Jiu-Jitsu for almost two years now and I can honestly say I don’t know how my life would be right now without it. Jake is a great instructor with years of experience under his belt. The Gracie’s have always emphasized detail in their techniques and Jake really brings it home. Every move is detailed out perfectly. You know not only how to utilize a specific technique, but also WHY you would use that technique over another in any situation. There are classes here for everyone. Children’s classes, Women’s Empowerment, beginners(Gracie Combative) and advanced classes(Masters Cycle) Don’t feel overwhelmed or think you can’t do this because this really is for everyone. If your body works, you can do jiu-jitsu. I’m on the heavier side of things and that’s why I was always hesitant, but now that I train I wish I had started years and years ago, its amazing for getting in shape and improves confidence. Most places only let you try them out for a day and that’s it. That’s usually not enough time to figure out if its for you. But here you can come try it for a WEEK! There’s really no excuse left for you, come in and hit the Mat and meet your new Jiu-Jitsu Family!
