Kinecta Federal Credit Union

I sold a car to a Kinecta Credit Union member, so I volunteered to meet him at the credit union and process the paperwork. You would have thought that they had never processed a car sale in their history. Long drag-​out signing party and then I was asked to return twice when they failed to get the transfer of the personalized license plate right. I would never, never choose to go back to this not-​ready-​for-​primetime operation.

The staff at this Kinecta branch always have been extremely helpful and professional with me whenever I’ve had a security breach on my ATM card (a seemingly annual event these days) and with making large deposits. They also are very nice.
The front parking lot gets very crowded and busy during regular business hours. So, during those times, I recommend parking on the eastern side of the building and walking over to this branch.

After seeing my initial review, I was contacted by a business manager from the credit union. She explained that what went on was not what Kinecta stood for and asked that I provide my contact information so that the Regional Director could contact me.
I sent my info and within a couple of days I spoke with the Regional Director as well as some very concerned managers and they all assured me this is not how things are supposed to be. I finally felt that someone was genuinely concerned in keeping their members happy! They all sincerely apologized for the incident that had occurred and assured me that they will do their best to not let it happen again. I thanked them all for their willingness to rectify the situation.
The same day, in the evening, I had left home for awhile and received a call that I had flowers delivered on my porch. It was a total unexpected surprise and just showed how far they are willing to go to appease a disheartened member.
To the Brea Kinecta branch: Thank you for the flowers. They were beautiful! I hope to see you soon in the future.

I’m still new but I’ve received better treatment here than many other banks I’ve been with. If things continue, I’ll be a customer for life.

Customer service was so good while I was inter-​branching my car payment, I am considering opening up an account here just because of how great they were with the long ass line on Saturday. Everybody’s needs seemed to be met and were in and out within minutes.

When walking inside the bank I’ve noticed this bank always has a funny smell. I’ve been coming here for sometime now and it still doesn’t change. I just use the ATM. machine and the the bank tellers. So my 4 stars on these services only. But as far as telephone services there hours are inconvenient to me. And I’ll give them 2stars for that.

Horrible Customer Service. I belong to a different credit union as use this one occasionally to make deposits. This is the third time I’ve been given unprofessional customer service from the same teller. She is always on her pink phone and acts as if I’m bothering her when I walk up to make a deposit. This is not only unprofessional but bad security tactics. The branch manger should be overseeing their employees. The branch isn’t welcoming, no smiles, no hello or thank you. I would never open an account here.

Trying to reach a human being for support? Good luck with that. I now have to drive out to their office just to get a YES or NO answer.

Was a member for 10 years and had the worst luck with this credit union (Brea). Every loan transaction required multiple return trips to sign documents the bank rep missed (on one car loan I had to return 4 times). One rep would always try to sign me up for a home loan consultation so she could meet her monthly referral requirements. I would decline and then she would guilt trip me into saying yes. Very sneaky if that’s her tactic, or really bad business environment if she was really that desperate.
CD rates are much higher/​better at other credit unions (Schools First). Go somewhere else for a better experience.

I used to member a while back and o close my account and decide to return back now I see why I left in the first place– terrible customer service! I visited the Hawthorne branch before opening hours. This location aha two atm machines. One for cash only and other provides all types of services. So the full service atm was closed and I needed to make a deposit. I waited for a few minutes then I had to leave. I called customer service about the issue, the representative apologize about it and offer to find other location. How is that going to help me when I am in this area that I need to get service right then there… Until I find another credit union, I will leave for good!

I strongly discourage anyone joining this credit union. There policies are extremely stupid and very unreasonable.

I can only say that a joint account isn’t really joint. only 1 person even on a joint account can call and get information. which is absolutely ridiculous in 2014.
I have been a member for over 20 years and still need my husband to call to inquire for things for me. 1952 anyone???
2 stars because they are better than BofA or Wells Fargo but they lack in customer service and being able to get results online.
UPDATE — In response to Molly. I have joint access to my kids, our checking, savings, money market, home loan and credit card. Archaic that on a joint account there is still a «primary» and a «secondary» (not quite as good).
I went into the bank and asked the manager why, her response after looking up my account was just to say over and over that it is the policy of the company.

Love the service here. It may be a lithe out of our way, but this CU is one of the few places I like to do all my financial business. Being a small business owner, it’s a great help to me to know that the people here really get to know you, and want to help in any way they can.

WoooHooo for Kinecta in Brea!!! Love this branch! My father opened an account for me when it was the Hughes Aircraft credit union. I left the money in this account (many, many years) for when my kids went to college. I called the Brea branch since the account was there and was greeted on the phone by a wonderful employee named Mina. I explained how I needed to get some of the money for tuition. Since this was a CD, I wasn’t sure how to withdraw from the account. Mina made it so easy! She explained the details with a warm and caring way. (I had gone to the TO branch and they were so rude! I left in tears, called Mina and she asked if I’d mind driving to her branch.) 3 months later, because life got in the way and tuition was due again, I called Mina. «Oh I remember you! You’re the nice lady with two kids in college». (All I said was, «Hi Mina this is…) Oh my gosh, she remembered our situation 3 months later! So I drove 3.5 hours to the Brea branch for her help. The second I walked in she said, «It is sooo nice to finally meet you. We have you all set up with Ekram to complete the transaction.» So I’m thinking, «wow, what great service», but to my surprise the service got even better with Ekram’s thoroughness in completing my transaction. He was quick, personable and incredibly knowledgable. Ekram had everything all set within 15 minutes and I was back on the road for another 3.5 hour drive. Ileana, your staff (Mina and Ekram) deserve some sort of recognition for their fabulous customer service!
Kinecta Brea should get 500 stars! They are awesome!!!

I have nothing but good things to day about this location. I have been banking with them for a very long time, since I was in high school and they are very understanding of personal issues. Once you come often they want to develop a relationship with you. There is always and agent greeting you at the door. And the service is fast, just be aware of what time you go to the bank. Thanks Mila for everything!

Sadly I’ve joined the ranks of Kinecta defectors after 27 years. Lack of modern conveniences like at home deposit, a decent iPhone app, charging monthly fees for a simple checking account and a separate fee for paper statement. I’m done. Not a hard choice since USAA offers free checking with no minimum balance, at home deposits, a great iPhone and iPad app, online bill pay, free unlimited funds transfer to any U.S. bank, and (bonus) they refund the ATM fees other banks charge you.

people here should re-​learn the meaning of customer service and more training on how to deal with customers… just because i wasnt wearing a coat and tie doesnt mean im a lesser man to deal with… for all you know the man wearing flip flops has more millions than the man wearing tux… stop being racist!!!

I have been a member of Kinceta since it was the federal credit for Hughes Aircraft. I absolutely love this credit union and this location in Brea. I have my paycheck auto deposited which is perfect for me and I get free checking because of it. Both my sons have accounts here too and love the service they get. I read some of the other reviews about holding paychecks for two days but my younger son never has a hold on his check (now that might be because they joined under my name yrs ago).
If you are tired of the nickle and diming the big banks are doing to you then check this credit union out. There is a small fee to join (use to be $ 5…don’t know if that is still the case to join «the co-​op» but it is worth it).
The only issue I have some times and it is very rare is the parking.

Why do I always have to swipe my card like 2 – 3 times before your ATM gets it right? Maybe I should stop putting my debit card in my back pocket? hmmmm.
One swipe, one transaction — shouldn’t be that hard right? I think you like to prolong the time i stand in front of the ATM camera making stupid frustrated faces and cursing outloud.
