Dr. Mitchell is a caring, knowledgeable and thorough doctor. His staff on the other hand, leave much to be desired. Up until my last visit, I personally have had nothing to complain about, and I even defended them when a family friend(an ex-patient of Dr. Mitchell) said the girls at the front desk treated her rudely and unprofessionally. It seems I was wrong to defend them. I had an appointment scheduled at 8:15 am for a blood draw, and was finally seen around 8:45. The wait time wasn’t the main problem I had with the staff. I arrived for my appointment at 8:15, signed in and sat in the waiting room. During my wait time, another patient arrived and signed in around 8:35 to 8:40. When the nurse came out to bring the other patient back to take his vitals, she looked at me and said, «I didn’t even know your were here, I’ll be right back.» She did come back after taking the patient’s vitals. She should have taken the other patient to his exam room and then come back to get me(especially since his appointment was after mine). I would be a lot more understanding if the waiting room was packed, or there was another emergent case. In fact, as I sat in the waiting room, I could hear the staff joking around and gossiping, instead of making sure signed-in patients were seen in a timely manner. Dr. Mitchell belongs to MDVIP, which is a concierge service. Patients pay $ 1800 a year on top of their medical insurance costs for a higher level of care. My point here is that I can go to any other doctor and experience the normal doctor’s office woes without spending an extra $ 1800. Additionally, MDVIP has an email portal that allows patients to directly email their doctor and his staff. When this problem occurred, I immediately sent Dr. Mitchell an email, but he waited an entire week before responding to my complaint. His excuse was that he wanted to thoroughly investigate my problem. I have no problem with that, but the least he could have done was to let me know his intentions. Concierge service? Really?
