Pillar To Post Home Inspection

I offer a rather cautionary tale of Pillar to Post to those of you who would consider reaching out for an inspection in west/​south Orange County based on reviews here.
I wish I could leave a review on the performance of Pillar to Post inspector Tim Toomey, but I can’t, as he never showed up to the appointment he confirmed. My wife, my realtor, and his assistant were instead left sitting in the prospective property for over an hour while we reached out to Pillar to Post’s various offices in hopes of a resolution. As of today, I still don’t know what happened to Tim. Here’s a general timeline of how things went that day:
2:00 PM: The inspection was supposed to begin at 2:00. Everyone arrived on time except Tim. We waited 20 minutes, assuming he was lost in the neighborhood.
2:20 PM: I called PtP’s corporate office. They confirmed the appointment and put me on hold while they attempted to reach out to Tim. I got disconnected and called back, only to get a different person that I explained everything to again. Unable to reach Tim, I was told they would send him an urgent email.
2:33 PM: Still no Tim. I called the office on his web page, and was put on hold again. They attempted to reach him, and getting no answer, offered to patch me through to Tim’s cell phone so I could leave a message personally. I did that.
2:42 PM: I called the office on his page yet again. They called him again and got nothing. This time, I got half-​hearted apologies from the staff who were obviously put in the awkward situation of having nobody else who could complete the inspection and being completely unable to offer me any sort of resolution.
3:05 PM: We left the property without having completed an inspection, only days away from the contingencies needing to be removed.
That was the last I heard from anyone connected to Pillar to Post.
Essentially, Tim not showing up could have cost us the house. Thanks to our realtor’s deep book of contacts, we found another inspector who did us a special favor and came out on Sunday, much to the current homeowner’s inconvenience. As first time home buyers, it’s probably expected that we make mistakes, but Pillar to Post has easily been the biggest.

Tom Ciccone performed a full and detailed home inspection on a house that we are buying. Tom showed up a few minutes early with chairs, drinks and muffins for me and my kids, since it was going to be a long inspection (3 hours). He was kind and professional and didn’t waste any time. When he was finished he walked me through the house, explaining everything and answering any questions that I had. He left me with a binder full of helpful papers (things such as «national averages for remodel costs») and emailed a copy of his full report by the end of the day. Having used a different company for a previous inspection about a month ago, I can confidently say that Tom Ciccone of Pillar to Post is MILES above his competition. I would absolutely use him again and recommend him to anyone I know.
