A-1 Computers

I chose to bring my laptop here because my family has had computers repaired here before with no problems. Brought my computer in to get the hinges fixed. They charged $ 70 for the diagnosis and then with labor and parts I paid a little more than $ 179 total. I paid it, even though I thought it was bit overpriced, but I don’t know much about the computer repair business, and I really needed my laptop fixed for work reasons so I paid it.
Their protocol was to see exactly what was needed to be repaired, and then call me to ask my permission to go ahead and purchase those parts which would then be added to my bill. That was fine with me, but my problem is that they FORGOT to call me to ask about the parts (which they didn’t find out until I called them to check in about it), which set the repair back about a week because they had to order the parts needed, and then took them about another week and a half to do the actual repair. I can understand a week, but almost three and a half weeks with my laptop is pretty unacceptable.
I gave them two stars because their staff was pretty nice; they did catch that my AC/​DC jack was broken as well, but I decided on not getting that fixed because it would have costed me another $ 100 – 150 to fix, and since it still charged I chose to wait on it. My laptop was returned in good condition, everything that I asked to be fixed/​replaced was done so.
Other than that, I don’t think I would do business with them again, just because I feel I paid too much for the amount of time they had to fix my laptop when it could have been a lot quicker.
