A simple hot dog stand that rests outside the shipyard and near the the Bremerton ferry. I rarely make my way down there during the day, but my cravings for a hot dog and the recent closure of Retro Dogz had me making my way down there for lunch one day. Apparently this stand has been in operation for at least 11 years serving up Hot Dogs, burgers, chicken, and ribs to hungry shipyard workers. The owner is a chatty guy and will talk your ear off. It’s refreshing to see someone who is still in love with what he does for a living. He will remember your name and tell you all about the delicious food he’ll be grilling as summer comes along. So the first time I go there was to satisfy a craving for a hot link with cream cheese which was filled easily. This food is one of the most delicious things I can think of and I will order it at any chance. Then I noticed something on his menu. A torpedo dog challenge. A hot dog so spicy that if you can eat one then the second one is free. I had to do it. I just can’t back down from a spice challenge. I came back ready 2 days later to fight my enemy. The torpedo dog is composed of a evil assortment of hot sauces along with a variety of peppers, onions, and tomatoes. I gotta say, it was spicy. The hottest thing I’ve had on this coast that I have not made for myself. I could feel the acid of the sauces sitting uncomfortably in my stomach almost instantly, but I couldn’t stop. I just love spicy food that much. I destroyed my competition. Then I destroyed my reward. Spice, you will never destroy me. I eat volcanoes. Excellent service. Great hot dogs. Challenges to keep you coming back make this an essential stop for your hot dog needs.
