Perfect every time! Salmon rolls are always fresh

Today was my third and last trip to this restaurant. My friend and I had the lunch buffet. The food was decent but not outstanding. Some of the items had not been replenished (we were there at noon). There is very hot steam coming from some of the buffet items and there is no warning that you could burn yourself until it happens. When we eat out, I take a little baggie and put a bite of something in it to take as a treat for our dog. When the waitress brought the bill, we were charged for three meals rather than two. When we asked why, the very embarrassed waitress said that someone saw me putting food in my purse. It was a TINY little piece of fried fish, for Pete’s sake. As we were walking out, we saw plates waiting to be cleared that had lots of food sitting there waiting to be thrown away. It was ridiculous not to tell me what the problem was before charging for three meals. Needless to say, I will not darken their door again.

Great service and food! Definitely my new favorite Chinese buffet in Brenham. I’d even eat the sushi!

Most of the time this place is great. Occasionally they can be slow to refill the buffet. Waitstaff is almost always very professional. Sushi is good too, at least for a buffet…

I really can’t say anything bad about this restaurant, except that they don’t have a good wine selection. Otherwise, I’d give them a 5!
The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is great and the food is delicious! The price is incredible — even if all you got was the sushi. They have a huge selection of sushi for a buffet and it’s very good!

This place was new, a while back. Now it’s old news and it will stay that way. Brenham already has a buffet of Asian cuisine but it’s really not even on par with that one. The sushi is warm, and the Asian choices are quite limited. Fear not though, for some reason the most consumed food here is American, such as pizza, corn nuggets, fried chicken, and various other American delicacies. Bottom line, it’s expensive and not very good. I come here if I must have Asian food, but even then I’m generally reluctant.

Food is great. Sushi is amazing. Even by city standards this is wonderful. A+ on the environment. Really enjoyed the place and service!!!

The food is very good for a buffet. Although the selections are a bit small for the price. Everything I tried was very good though. Nice sushi and dessert selections. I’d stop in again if I’m in the area.

Don’t let the looks distract you from the fact that the food is not worth it. The food is overpriced for the quality food. Not that you have many options in Brenham for Chinese food but I would simply go to a local grocery store and buy a frozen box of orange chicken.

The place is bright and shiny and, importantly, clean. Great décor. Good tasting food. Nothing greasy or gross. Would come back

It’s very small, the buffet is very close to the tables everyone sits at which is a little uncomfortable, and there isn’t a big food selection. The waiters seem inexperienced and the buffet isn’t kept filled well. On the other hand, it has a big parking lot, has a nice ambience, and the deserts are delicious. Honestly, you wouldn’t think Golden Imperial is from Golden Pagoda, sadly. It’s really a toss up whether to go to the only other Chinese restaurant in town, Chinese Buffet, or Golden Imperial.

My first experience with Golden Imperial is that they spend a lot of time figuring out how to jack up prices while providing the absolute minimal amount of food portion.
I spent $ 15 on my take out on a clump of dry ramen noodle-​style lo mien, with 8 green beans and maybe 4 cut up mushrooms, a mini egg roll that I could have swallowed in one bite and an order of hot and sour soup (WITHOUT WONTONS [wontons are $ 2.44 extra]).
The soup was probably the best item in my box, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that this company is clearly making sure they triple their profits on every order.
I expected a lot more. I mean you can make money off of me without charging me for every item. If you get take out from this place, better make sure you are buying for 3 or more because that’s how they are going to charge you.

This is a followup report on the review I wrote a few weeks ago. I have increased my rating to a 5 from a 2.
If you have read my first review you may have noticed I was severely disappointed in my first visits to the Golden Imperial. 99% of the problems I noted were food related and many stemmed from not having experience serving a buffet style meal.
Since I wrote the first review my wife and I have visited the Golden Imperial FOUR times and have been VERY happy with the changes they have implemented! The owners or staff must have read my review and improved every single item that we were not pleased with!
The Wanton soup is the most improved dish! Not quite as flavorful as the soup at my favorite place in Houston but a close second.
The green beans were very good tonight, keep up the good work!
The egg rolls were tasty and not mushy inside.
Sweet and sour chicken was crispy and not oil soaked.
The amount of food on the bars was noticeably reduced and replenished quickly. The lady working the bar was working very hard, Great job! I did notice the line looked a little bare with all the large pans only ¼ full so you might think about swapping out the large trays for ½ pans and placing a cover over the back (empty) pan. Would make the food presentation look a little better. The amount of food in the pans was almost perfect as the food was fresh, hot and tasty.
What else can I say? The owners, staff and management have really stepped up and made this place worth coming to (for me that’s a 72 mile round trip). Thank you very much for listening and making this a restaurant worthy of a 5 star Unilocal rating.

It’s Golden Pagoda from Bellville on steroids. Life has peaked. I will never know another Chinese buffet again. I should probably only go twice a year simply because I’m going to die if I eat that much food again. Do it, just do it. There’s different things most «common» Chinese buffets don’t have. Must try the sweet and sour chicken and butterfly shrimp! As eBay would say, A++++.

P.S– the atmosphere is gorgeous and everything is super clean and pretty. And they have macaroons!

Great restaurant. Great service, the price for the buffet is fair, exceedingly nice interior appointments. It has an upscale big city feel one wouldn’t expect in Brenham. Plenty of buffet and sushi roll options.

Wonderful food! There was a huge variety to choose from, and the sushi bar alone was worth the trip! I even left a large tip in the jar for the sushi guy after he so kindly gave me salmon sashimi when I requested it! Finally, good Chinese/​Japanese food has come to Brenham! I will change my review to 5 stars once they put sashimi out for everyone.

Beautiful and friendly environment. The food was delicious. Wished they have more options for the kids beside French fries. It would be great if they have mac’n’cheese or pizza for the kids.
