I’m here pretty much every Friday. Most of the employees recognize me, haha. It’s become a weekend night tradition for me to get a Starbucks beverage and then peruse the store. Always a pleasure! Yes, the prices can be a bit up there, but I don’t blame them. Most of the time I find myself thinking«Well, I could get this from Amazon for a few bucks less» but I end up just paying full price in order to support the store since I value it so much. I find it most enjoyable to come here after 8-ish, when the crowd of dinner-goers is gone and the seating is available. Not to mention the peace and quiet. Anyway, this location is a solid store. Nice staff, good selection, fairly organized.

I really like to touch books. Analog reading is my favorite. Barnes & Noble is keeping it old-school as well as embracing e-books. This is a large store. They have a very nice selection of books for most genres Because Brentwood is the«Buckle of the Church Belt»(not the Bible Belt as some some) there is a large selection for Christian reading. This isn’t to say that there isn’t a good selection for other religions, it’s pretty decent. I find especially useful is their fiction section. Not to be overlooked is their large selection of games, toys, children’s books, media, and periodicals. Their large selection of gifts in the way of books, bargain books, greeting cards, journals, note cards, and more, makes this a great stop for gift buying. If you haven’t seen their selection of the readers, it is worth your time to take a good look. They’re very affordable and have many different options.

bookstores? they still exist? yes, yes they do. this one is pretty okay too. lots of books. they have comics and graphic novels and weird stuff like that too. journals, historical books, teen-vampire romance(wtf?), etc. and, there’s a starbucks in here! it’s clean, they have paper with words printed on it and bound, to form those things we used to read before the overtaking of iPads and kindles.

This Barnes and Noble is not customer Friendly. I have gone there twice in the last couple of weeks looking for a book. The first time, I went to the information desk and the lady was sarcastic and rude. Of course after dealing with her, they did not have the book. The next time, I looked it up online, called the store and they held if for me. I had to wait in a long line because there was only one person working the registers, I had to listen to her giving each person a sales pitch on joining their club even though each person told her they were not interested, she kept badgering them. I finally got up there to get my book to find out it was a lot higher in the store than advertised online. The man was rude and uncaring, he just let me know they have rent to pay. I walked out. This store has very poor customer service!!!

I’ve been to this Barnes and Nobles a couple of times. I prefer to get my books for free at the library but sometimes thousands of people want the book that I «have» to read now and I have no choice but to buy the darned thing. I come to this store because it’s accessible during my lunch period. The store has lots of books and toys and there is a «Starbucks». What it’s missing are enough employees to run the place. During my latest visit I requested the book to be held for a pick up in the store. I waited an hour before going to get my book and during that time I received confirmation that my book was available for pick up. After the one cashier became available he apathetically told me that he could not find my book and that it was probably still at customer service because they might have been too busy to bring it over. There were two people at customer service; both disappeared when it was my turn for assistance. Luckily my hold was sitting on the desk so I grabbed it and went back to the front. On my previous visits I’ve seen the same phenomenon. If you need help finding a book expect to cool your heels. I’ve had to wait at least 15 minutes before. The lines are never long but they usually only have one person manning the check out station so expect a little bit of a pause here as well. If you don’t have a lot of time I could suggest that you request that the book be held for you but apparently that doesn’t work very well. The lack of assistance isn’t offensive but it is irritating and as a result I prefer shopping elsewhere.

I’m just happy there’s still a real-live bookstore in town! There’s something about walking in, smelling the books and losing a couple hours looking through pages. I’ve been able to find any book I’m looking for(with the help of employees) rather quickly. Decent greeting card section.

I have to say I am very disappointed in this Barnes & Noble and WILL not go back to this one and probably none of the others. The pretentious staff was way too cool to step out of their little box to help me. It was like I was speaking a foreign language to try to get information from them. I purchase my Moleskine notebooks from the, because they are the only pace to do so in my area. I asked the cashier if they them in another location and she said hey did not. I then asked her if they stopped carrying the one that I had purchased here all he time(giving her very detailed info). She just looked at me and said«…if its not over there I guess so.» She did not offer to look in her system to see if that item number(which I offered up to her) was in here and if hey would be getting more in. Upset with trying to deal with her anymore I went to my car and looked a their website on my iPad where they said I could do the in store pick-up. So I go back in, with a 2 year old on my hip mind you, and explained to her very politely that the website says hey have hem and they are available for I store pick-up. I then asked her if she could look it up in her system and just see if they showed any in inventory or if they would be getting more in. She looked at me again like I was an alien and told me that she wasn’t allowed to but I could go to the customer service counter in the middle of the store. After lugging my 2 year old to he customer service counter, I wait a couple of minutes for someone to show up and just ask if she could look up this item in the system to see if they have any. She asked me what it was and I told her. Then I got the«well I put them out anne if there aren’t over here then we don’t have them.» like the first girl I asked if this was something that they would get in and questioned her system saying that hey did have them in stock and curious why they wouldn’t want to immediately correct the inventory if it was off so as to not confuse the next customer. Again, I just got a blank unwilling to help stare. I pleaded again, can you just look in the system to see so maybe I could get it at a future date. Nothing!!! I am so confused and down right ticked that I had to work so hard to give them business. Why is it like that? I have to fight to see if their system tells them whether or not it’s a stock item and whether or not hey will be getting more in. With the elaborate inventory systems that are in place now, there is no reason why a company like B&N can’t leverage that to assist a customer. Again, it was just a case of extremely poor customer service.

I like to go to this bookstore to look at the latest books. I know it is crazy, but I will probably always by hardback books so I try to support any bookstore now(whether it be big box or local) because I don’t want them to go away. They have a pretty decent selection of books here at this store. I love the discount bins. You can find some awesome cook books on sale here.

I frequent this place more often lately after I finish work, or sometimes on my day off. Some things haven’t changed much, but one thing I am disappointed with is that they got rid of their big comfortable chairs. I know it was because of an issue with space, but those chairs were a lot comfortable on my back. i love to eat in their café, but one negative is that I can never find an outlet plug to plug things into, such as a computer or phone charger. I wish they would install more outlets in there considering I see people in there everyday with their computers. Because of this, I had to go out to their sales floor the other day, and I sat on the floor and read while I plugged my phone in to charge. I was minding my own business when one of their employees came over to me and told me that I needed to get up because there were rules against sitting in the floor reading. What was even worse was that he announced it in front of a bunch of people, so it was a bit embarrassing. You should at least post a sign somewhere with this rule on it so that people know, considering I have seen people sit in the floor before and no one bothers them.

On my day’s off I often go to Barnes & Noble to read, relax, game and/or job hunt online. The environment is nice and quite and often I can discover a new book or two to add to my wish list. However, I still don’t really buy any books here cause I find their selection very small(Mckay is better), their prices high and their staff not always helpful.

Two things set B&N over Borders… better coffee and a better selection of bargain publisher remainder books. Other than that, I do most of my shopping at Amazon. Better prices and no sales tax.
