Horizon Smog

Brought my wife’s car here 9÷1÷15 for the biennial smog service. I chose Horizon smog because we got a coupon in the paper for $ 29.99 to do the smog.
I didn’t have the dmv paperwork and they were understanding about that and took care of it. That is about all the good I have to say about this place.
This portion will be about my experience with the only guy who works at this shop, Craig. Upon taking my information and keys, I was told by Craig to have a seat and relax and as I was the only customer there it would only be a short wait. He hopped into my wife’s car, started it up and drove into the garage to start the test. As he was pulling the car in I heard a loud bang. I got up to see what was going on and couldn’t see much from behind the counter. Craig popped up while I was still looking to see what was going on and shrugged his shoulders suggesting to me that everything was good. 5 min later he pulled my car back out and I noticed it didn’t sound right. He came in and told me the check engine light was on and that according to the readout my O2 sensor needed to be replaced. I went out to my car and confirmed that the light was on (it wasn’t on previous to my bringing the car in). After starting the car and hearing this new loud growling from the exhaust I shut the car off and had my father-​in-​law (used to be a mechanic) come to look at it.
We jacked the car up and noticed that the loud bang was Craig running the exhaust into a portion of the test equipment ripping the back apart from the front essentially causing it to run open headers and he had also smashed the O2 sensor which caused the car to fail.
I called the manager and explained the situation to him. They said their only tow truck driver was off and if I wanted to, to drive the car to Antioch. I told him that I didn’t know what the extent of the damage was and didn’t want to take a chance of damaging the car further. The manager of a couple area horizon smogs then told me that I should be fine because he used to run open headers on his car! Obviously this guy has no clue whatsoever. I eventually was able to fix the problem myself which required a new O2 sensor along with re-​aligning the exhaust and replacing the hangers. They ended up giving me a free retest, which they should have because their employee damaged my car. I also requested that they reimburse me for the O2 sensor and they told me I would have to wait for the manager to get back from vacation. It is now almost January 2016 and still no response from the manager.
Upon bringing my car back for the retest as I was waiting, Craig slammed another customers vehicle into the test equipment and I called the main office again to tell them I was refusing to allow him to drive my wife’s car and they told me it would be fine for me to pull the car in, however Craig refused to do the test unless I let him drive the car.
I would give 0 stars if I could and am now apparently going to have to take them to small claims court for the time and parts I had to put into the car. Use this shop and the one in Antioch at your own risk!

Called regarding a coupon we saw and spoke with Jay on the phone who was very friendly and he gave us a great deal. Drove to the shop which is in a great location. Walked around downtown Brentwood while waiting for our truck to be smogged. There was a very nice man who greeted us when we got to the shop and he smogged our truck very quickly. We will take all of our vehicles here from now on. They give excellent service and they have the best prices in the county!

Says they are open today. Got here at 1030 and no one was there and the doors were locked? Where the hell is everyone at? Cant comment on the service because again no one is here! Down the street at A1 smog getting it done fast!

Fast and Friendly service. Stopped by right after lunch no wait for service. I was in and out in about 20 minutes. I rated them 5 stars for quick service. I would suggest anyone who needs smog service stop by for quick services.

Found a coupon on line and headed in. Though the décor is suffering, (but justified in low price of service), the young man was polite and efficient.

Sorry that they are closed today. I had an extra hour to complete this task. Their price is half of another location in town so I will likely be back another day. A smog is a smog.

. It’s Saturday morning and they only have one employee working. I was told over the phone it would be $ 48 and I get here the guy says $ 68. I told the guy the person on the phone said $ 48. And he was able to change the price. They charge you a buck to pay by credit card.

Came in just after they opened. No wait since I didn’t have an older car that needed to wait on the other machine to calibrate. Sure, the guy can be a little gruff but I’m sure he has to say the same thing over and over again to people who may not listen. He was great to me once we got past the where I can park moment. Maybe they just need a sign that says «park here for smog service. All other park elsewhere.» At any rate, quick service, great prices. Friendly customer service. Pretty much all one can ask for when it comes to a Smog Check.

Wow awesome customer service! I rolled in and out in less than 10 minutes and the young man who helped me was very nice and he was quick!

This place is Awesome I was in and out in 15min the customer service is Outstanding such a polite and friendly guy wouldn’t take my car anywhere else from now on.

These guys are great! I’m from out of state so he explained everything to me and got me in and out in 30 minutes. On Saturday the farmers market is going on and I didn’t even mind a wait. Very courteous and respectful. I’ll be brining my wife’s car back there as well.

I should have read the reviews first. Customer service is the worst. Craig whose communication skills are grunt and point admitted that he did not have «much customer service.» He drove our classic car onto the ramp with a loud thump, slammed doors, slammed the hood and generally had no respect for the car… forget seat and floor protection for oily shoes or clothes. When I discovered there was a discount coupon, he claimed that there were so many he couldn’t keep track and couldn’t provide any information for me.
And as we drove away, we discovered the key to another car checked in for service was left on our front seat… he might not work there very long so maybe the customer service will improve. But no matter, that is the last time I will use that smog test facility.

Worst customer service ever. Some hourly employee yells at you for attempting to park in THEIR filled up parking lot. He had a terrible attitude «I can’t be bothered by you right now, go park in another parking lot». The parking lot wasn’t full from customers at the shop, it was full of broken down cars. Nice convenience for your new customers.
Sorry for asking you to simple do your job and show some customer service. I went to A-​1 Smog Pros and they said it was a common complaint from that shop.

Very helpful and fast. I didn’t know much about smog test but the guy filled me in with knowledge I didn’t know before. I would definitely come back here again. No scam here. I recommend it to everyone around the Brentwood area

Had a chance to go to Horizon Smog for my required DMV smog check and it was super fast and affordable. The service was great and they had me in and out of there on a Friday morning.
Also, it is right across the street from the park and shops if you do have a small wait. I highly recommend if you need a smog check.

I have gone here 2 times for my cars that needed a smog & I was really happy with the service I received. I love that I found a place I can always take my cars when it’s time for a smog.
PROS: This business is close to home, offers a coupon, has great service and they offer a quick smog! Plus, it’s within walking distance to parks and shops if you need to wait.
ADVICE: Go in on a weekday morning for a quick turn around time.
