This place is always such a nice stop off when going on a walk on the Brentwood GreenWay System. The walking path around the old school house and the Native American Indian Mound is really beautiful. It is nice to see the new house renovated too. I can remember when it looked like a strong wind could have blown it off its foundation. There are little signs around explaining the history of the school house and the mound. The mound is actually on the register of national historical places and the school dates back from 1832. I think the best part of the walk was finding out tuition for the school was a big $ 8 back in the day for 5 months. Sounds like a good deal doesn’t it?!

Nice little park with two different historical objects: an 1830s plantation schoolhouse and the remains of five Mississippian Period Native American Mounds, only one of which has not been excavated and remains impressive. Worth a brief look if you are in the area. Part of the Brentwood Greenway System.
