Nice neighborhood donut shop. The buttermilk donut is soooo good! We got 6 donuts plus 1 regular coffee and one flavored latte for ~$ 16. Did not disappoint!

The donut is a humble treat. Even the«–ugh» proved to be too much fuss for this ring or stick of fried dough. Donuts are wads of sugar and fat with the minimum of non-sugar and non-fat ingredients to let the snack cohere. They are not supposed to be fancy. Free range eggs or locally sourced pork is wasted on them. There’s nothing strange about milk and powdered sugar frosting. Ray’s abides by the inherent simplicity of fried foods. It’s not the kind of place you need to be seen entering. Leave your smartphone in your pocket. You came here to load up, not upload. Their donuts are always fresh, and their staff are always friendly. You can eat enough of these heavy delights to feel sick from how many calories you consumed, not how many dollars you spent.

My first visit to this location although I’ve been to their Creve Coeur location at least a dozen times at this point. Young lady behind the counter was very friendly and conversant. She was actually enthusiastic about their donuts, something that is rare among clerks in donut stores. I really like their donuts! My current favorite is a chocolate glazed old fashioned. This is bit of a curiosity to me as I definitely prefer a yeast donut to a cake donut 9 times out of 10. Ray’s is very clearly the 10th time as I can’t seem to order anything else lately. Their version is dense without being dry… a feat most places can’t accomplish. I bring donuts to customers 2 – 3 times per month. I’m very glad to know this location exists as I almost drove to the other location just because I knew that I wanted to bring Ray’s this morning.

Everything(Taste & smell, coffee, donut) was good until I saw a fly inside the cabinet where all donuts were kept :(

These donuts are okay — if that — in my opinion. Nothing to write home about. The Apple fritter was so heavily glazed and coated in so much sugar, it was basically inedible. The Apple chunks were few and far between, and too small to give the fritter any flavor. Between the minimal dough and apples, this thing was mostly sugar… It honestly made me feel pretty sick to eat, and my fingers smelled of the same overpowering sugar scent for hours. I’m a real fan of donuts that are sweet, but not inedibly so, and flavors and fruits that speak for themselves. This is just not the case at Ray’s. I don’t understand why these fritters receive so much hype. I, personally, did not enjoy it at all. Some people might. If you’re the type of person that this place sounds appealing to, rest assured, it’s not all bad. The apple fritters are well priced($ 2.79 I believe), and larger than my head. It must have weighed an entire pound. The décor is nice and open and looks brand new. I, however, will take my business elsewhere. The amount of sugar in these donuts is just way, way, waaaay too much for me. There are better places to go in St. Louis.

I love donuts. Ray’s Donuts are as good as it gets in the world of donuts. I am sad that I keep getting there too late to get a fritter. Even at 10AM on the weekend they were already out of fritters. One day I will get my fritter. They told us we can order donuts for the next day, because I was complaining about missing out on the fritter lol. A couple tables to sit if you want but I never stay. edit– I got a fritter finally lol. It was ok. I have had better fritters. It was not bad by any means but it was just ok. I will be back for the other donuts no worries :) edit edit: update again. I went to the Ray’s on Olive and got the fritter and it was so good.

Excellent donuts but the unfriendly face of the store made me feel very unwelcome. Bad customer service doesn’t taste as good as donuts.

The chocolate yeast donuts at Rays are AMAZING! Best I’ve ever had. The two tone twist is also fantastic. The people are really kind as well.

Thursday, 7 a.m. I walked in, no waiting. The selection is great, meaning not too few, not too many. Bought an assortment to take to work, and they were some of the best donuts I’ve ever had. Will definitely go back to Ray’s.

I give credit to the SO for finding this place. We strolled in one morning and to our surprise found that this place is not your typical Doughnut Shop. Its much larger then what you typically get in a doughnut shop and they also provide many different types of drinks, coffee and specialty drinks. They have a nice selection of doughnuts to choose from. The larger ones are more expensive, there is no one set price for everything, They have a plenty of seating and free WiFi if you want to bring in your laptop and work. I had the Blueberry cake doughnut and the Lemon cake doughnut and they were both really good. They were not to sweet and not to cakey. Perfect with a cup of coffee! I will be coming here again since its so close to me and its actually a decent doughnut shop.

excellent fresh donuts, cheap. There isn’t much seating even though they could bring in more chairs, I’m sure most do carry-out. There was a small group having a child’s bday party so theres at least room enough for that. Enjoy!
