EATHERE. The seafood plater is great for 3 people. So much fresh fried food. Not alot of parking or seating but its worth anywait. We will be returning, with more friends and family.

Had lunch there on Thursday. It was crowded, but we luckily managed to score a seat for two at the window overlooking the Penobscot River, the best seat in the house! It really did feel like we were up in an eagle’s nest! Quite a view, but we were there for the food! I ordered the meatloaf special and the wife ordered a barbeque pork sandwich. A HUGE portion of meatloaf, enough to easily serve two hungry adults, was served along with my choices of mashed potatoes and cole slaw. A cup of brown gravy was a thoughtful addition to the meal. This was a very good, filling and tasty meal for a very reasonable price. My wife’s barbeque pork sandwich was just so-so as were the onion rings which she substituted for french fries(they were very dry and tasted more of breading than onion). We both enjoyed their iced tea, hers unsweetened and mine sweetened. Service was friendly and efficient. Next time we will try their seafood, which we hear is very good.

This is one of the best places I have ever had Seafood. Unbelievable portions and the flavor is fantastic.

Thanks to Unilocal reviews, this was an unexpected find while driving to Union. It’s a simple diner-style restaurant with one server and maybe two people in their small kitchen. We ordered the lobster roll and fish chowder. While the taste was decent, they were both grossly undersalted. The roll was loaded with pieces of lobster and that was great however without butter(or mayo) and undersalted made it for just an okay roll. The fries were frozen fries, deep fried and their taste was average. If in the area, I’d go back in a pinch to try something new. Our server was very friendly and provided great service.

They are not kidding about the biggest lobster roll, very satisfying! Well worth the money. And if it’s not too busy, sit by the window and you can gaze upon the Penobscot River.

In contrast to a couple other disgruntled reviewers, we had a very good experience at this restaurant. The service was very friendly, even though the food was gout-unfriendly, as is most seafood. However, everything was cooked quite well and tasted properly. It was not overseasoned nor overcooked. The broiled scallops and haddock are pretty good. I will say that there was a wait, but it was very reasonable. There was also a lot of food in the fisherman’s platter(however, there were fries hidden under everything). The one thing is that everything came with soso fries as a side and there were only a couple choices for nonfried seafood entrees; had there been other sides choices or other non fried seafoods it would have made it 5 stars.

A little local joint with big local fare. There might only be a handful of tables here, but it’s worth coming. We came off season and this place is hard to reach, but it’s worth the drive for sure. The lobster rolls looked ridiculous. Piled with lobster. My wife and I split the mountain of food called the seafood platter. It’s an all fried platter with haddock, shrimp, clams and fat scallops. It’s a heart attack on a platter, but it’s fresh seafood. Great treat. Take the drive. Highly worth it.

Hands down, this is where you may have the best lobster roll of your life. It’s that good. The meal comes with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle. These guys do it RIGHT. I wish I had a place like this in Mass.

Hole in the wall(or highway) that you have to stop at if you’re in the area. Sooo worth the drive from Bar Harbor. After 4 days in the area it’s become obvious food is a bit cheaper closer to Bangor and away from the touristy Bar Harbor. There is very little seating and the parking scared me, but the food was oh so good. We shared a platter of fried seafood which included half dollar sized scallops, fish, clams and shrimp. Sides of fries and cole slaw. Nothing was over battered. Lots and lots of meat. We were beyond stuffed and the bill was under $ 40! The lobster rolls looked amazing but I did not try one. They also had a huge dessert selection but I was stuffed. Only one waitress working and she was fantastic. Kept my glass filled, brought out extra cocktail sauce and was super friendly. Worth the drive!!!

This place is a must visit if you like Lobster. The amount of Lobster in their Roll is amazing for the price. The folks serving you are very helpful. The food is great. Someone close to me got the seafood plater. It was the largest I’ve ever seen. The view of the river is spectacular. If your in the area and want a lobster roll don’t miss this place. I also ordered the lobster soup. It had lots of lobster in it.

Here is a snarky definition of a tourist: Someone who looks at a huge pile of lobster meat on a limp hotdog bun and says«Now that’s what I call a lobster roll!!». Well, that is what my kid got served at the Eagle’s Nest. A monster mound of lobster meat, completely undressed, on an untoasted hotdog bun. Now, let’s not get into the fine points of how exactly a lobster roll should be dressed. But I don’t know of anyone who would not prefer their lobster roll with something special, whether it be butter or mayo or a toasted bun or a little lettuce. Anything! At least the meat was fresh and had lots of knuckles, but for that kind of treatment I can go buy some lobster meat at a market and dig in with my chopsticks… Plaques on the walls, praise for the best, the biggest lobster roll in Penobscot County! Well, maybe that is how Midcoast Lobster Rolls look like, what do I know, I’m from Boston! Thanks, but no thanks. Now, on the other hand, the fried food here was perfect. Thursday night All-You-Can-Eat Fish Fry. $ 12! Anyone who would ask for a second helping with this should be training for the NFL or the Marines. A heaping platter of fried fish, as fresh as could be, with fries and slaw. The fries were also great, the slaw nice and mild. What a treat! I noticed that a few regulars were splitting this plate, putting the cost at $ 6 per person, now that is a real bargain! Just to mix it up I ordered pot roast for $ 7 and that also proved to be a gigantic platter of decent, though not great, scrumptious comfort roast. With a fun view of the Penobscot, this place is like perched out over the water. There’s some sort of power plant just 100 yards uprivah, probably spewing out Supersize Superfund toxic waste, bet the tour guides don’t mention that. Oh, something to note. This joint has maybe 8 tables crammed into a closet-sized shack and exactly two workers: 1 waiter, 1 cook. So if you arrive to occupy the last table, like we did, the service may be prompt, but don’t be surprised if it takes an hour for your order to finally arrive at the table. I can only imagine what a nightmare this place is in the summer when the out-of-state tourists arrive.

I’m a Southern guy myself and down South lobster isn’t a frequent menu find. But every time I have come to Bangor for work I get asked«Have you had a lobsta roll from the Eagles Nest?» When I say I haven’t I’m bombarded with 50 different reason why I must. Evidently folks in Bangor don’t play around with their lobster rolls so I knew I had to get on that. Well, tonight was the night that decided to go for it. I arrived just before closing but the staff were nice and seated me anyways. The lobster roll with fries and coleslaw was immediately ordered! When it was brought out… Holy heck! All I could think about was how many lobsters had to die to create so much succulent meat piled on my plate. The sand which was amazing and the French fries rocked my world. I will definitely come back the next time I’m in town on business.

After a lovely holiday in Bar Harbor, we decided to stop by this roadside diner on our way home. It was slightly out of the way, but the steady high ratings from Unilocal led us back here. Boy are we glad we came! I split the seafood platter with a friend, and boy was it good. Some of the best fried scallop’s I have ever had! Tender haddock. A few too many fries, but still soooo good. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. Just realize that the portion sizes are HUGE.

Ridiculously good lobster, even if it’s difficult to find. I was on a family trip through Kennebunk/Kennebunkport and Bar Harbor, and was determined to eat as much lobster as possible. When I heard about Eagle’s Nest and heard some of the reviews, I realized I needed to try it. The location is difficult to find because it’s a small roadside diner plopped in the middle of a residential area. We actually thought we had the wrong address at first, as there are no other restaurants or businesses in the immediate area. Parking was a bit challenging as the space is limited. That said the food is excellent and Eagle’s has one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever eaten. The roll has minimal mayo, and the lobster was excellent quality. The fries and coleslaw were both good, but the lobster roll was so excellent it didn’t even matter. The wait staff was friendly, and even during a busy lunch hour the wait wasn’t too bad. It’s definitely family-friendly and there were many other tables with kids of all ages when we visited. Overall this is a high recommend if you love lobster rolls, and I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in Maine.

Now that’s a lobster roll. Yes, it’s $ 18, but it comes with fries(you can substitute corn, but be warned, it’s just from the can) and enough meat for two rolls. That being said, the lobster was delicious but the mayo used overpowered the fresh taste just a little too much for my liking. The lobster stew is really just lobster claws in a cup of hot butter. They were amazing, but we just ate the claws– didn’t feel up for a heart attack tonight. The place is a shake about 10 minutes off of Rt 1, and right along the river. Service was a little slow but very friendly, and parking was easy enough.

Very nice and cozy place with an amazing river waterfront view! Lobster roll: 4.5÷5 Lobster salad: never get this, it’s so bland and not worth it. 1⁄5. Service: 4⁄5 Views: 4⁄5 although the place is to tiny with few tables only. After trying lobster rolls all over Maine, I go back to this place. The way they serve it, the quantity and quality of the lobster meat are just perfect. If you’re visiting Bangor, this is a nice place to grab a lobster roll. Dropped the ratings to 3 stars after trying their salad. Seriously don’t order lobster salad here. #lobsteromania

Went because of Unilocalers and was not disappointed. It’s a SMALL restaurant and so there are signs everywhere to expect slow service. Out meals of burgers, scallop rolls and haddock were all delicious. Positive comments all around concerning the creamy coleslaw(that we subbed folrin fries). Nice river view if you can get a table with the view. We did not experience slow service and had a great lunch. We saw the huge lobster rolls that many tables were enjoying! Worth a stop if you are in or going through Brewer!

I greatly enjoyed the Eagles Nest. On our way up to Bar Harbor and getting hungry, I turned to my fellow Unilocalers for advice and saw that this place had fantastic reviews. It’s about 10 minutes off of the highway, located overlooking a wide river. It’s got a bit of a divey feel to it, and you certainly aren’t going for the décor. What was special about this place was the food. Signs on the walls recognizing it as the best place in the area for lobster rolls along with the strong endorsement of the server led me order one. At $ 17 it was a steal. There must have been 10 lobster claws, served cold on top of a lobster salad in the sandwich. A must try if you are in the area.

The Eagles Nest is a super-simple family-run restaurant. It’s tiny and sits right beside the road. They have a pretty diverse menu(considering how small it is) but Maine seafood is their specialty. I had the fried clam dinner, and can attest to how fresh their seafood is. My clams were whole belly clams(typical for Maine), lightly breaded, and quickly fried. They weren’t greasy, nor did they taste of grease. The French fries were also good, but not particularly remarkable. Overall I enjoyed my meal. However, I thought it was a bit expensive. I don’t know how the seafood industry works, but $ 20 for my 6 ounces of clams and an order of fries seemed a bit high(it also came with cole slaw, but I don’t eat mayonnaise).

Mmmph this place is awesome. Bf and I stayed in Brewer for a night, and before we drove out to Acadia, we consulted Unilocal for some good eats. Eagles Nest had some pretty high reviews, so we decided to go for it. It was great. Literally just a random shack on the road in the middle of a pretty rural, residential area that was such a gem to find. It’s essentially a small diner that sits overlooking the river next to it. We got a lobster roll to go which was prepared pretty quickly. Definitely one of the best lobster rolls I’ve ever had. The lobster portions were extremely generous, the coleslaw was DELICIOUS and the fries were pretty solid as well. It was so simple and so perfectly executed. Lobster was soft and tender, the mayo it was in complemented well too. Price was pretty standard for a lobster roll, but oh god the portions really were amazing. Good thing we shared one because we were respectably full after this brunch. Service is also super friendly! tldr; random place that serves some really really amazing lobster rolls
