El Patron in Brewster right on Main Street is a fabulous find. The food is authentic Mexican, the best you will find anywhere nearby. The tortilla soup and cheruba are delicious and unique in their preparation. They have great cocktails. It’s a great place to bring kids early or hang at the bar later with lots of lynch specials. If you are visiting this part of the Cape… Put this on your list for a casual inexpensive but really good food night on the town.

Meh. Atmosphere is great, good music, not loud, but I don’t think it would kill them to spring for a can of wd-40 for the door. We were encouraged when our server spoke very little English, we thought«Maybe great Mexican food». We thought wrong. The salsa tasted like cold nothing. Not tomatoes or anything just nothing. We asked for the spicy salsa and they brought us a bottle of ground jalapeño peppers to add, but they really weren’t that spicy either. I was kind of surprised at how stale or poorly made the chips were as well. It was not looking good for dinner. I ordered the steak chimichanga it had mostly rice and black beans and I am not joking when I say I had trouble finding any meat. The prices at this place were kinda nuts to have such meh food. My husband got the quesadilla and he too was dissatisfied. It boggles my mind that this place got any positive reviews, I’m guessing family and friends. I will not be going back. It was $ 50 for two ppl to eat and we both left unhappy. Let me clarify I am the type of person that is so happy if I don’t have to cook or clean. I hate leaving a negative review but I hope I’m saving someone else money.

This place is great! We have been many times and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. Such a difference from the greasy Mexican chain restaurants that are seemingly so popular on the Cape. It takes quite awhile for an independent restaurant to establish itself but we hope that many people soon catch onto the great food and authentic Mexican flavor so that it gains a popular following and stays open a long time.

We love El Patron! It’s our new favorite place for lunch or dinner! Drinks, Service & of course food are all great. I have been several times and never disappointed. Keep up the good work!

Average Mexican food. Started with chips & salsa. We both loved the salsa and the chips were good too. I ordered a classic margarita and my husband got the coronarita. Both came in a goblet margarita glass, can’t complain about the portion size! We both enjoyed our margaritas, you can tell they were house made and not just a mix. He got the chimichanga and I was feeling healthy and got the taco salad. I know, healthy at a Mexican restaurant?! That was my first downfall. Pass on the taco salad my friends. It came in a fried tortilla bowl. There was more ground beef than lettuce. The lettuce was straight out of the bag. The ground beef was room temp which freaked me out. If it had been chicken, maybe. But I’d avoid the salad all together. My husband enjoyed his chimichanga, it was a large portion size! I had a bite and I felt as though the carnitas was quite dry, but he said that was just the bite I had. Not terrible, would probably go again if we were craving Mexican.

The worst food I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Not As pricey as guapos, but what you get is goop folded up in a flaccid El Paso(or worse) tortilla. They charge extra for salsa, which is pallid and flavorless. The(argumentative) waitstaff ensured us this was authentic Mexican food, had no idea what al pastor was, and served our dishes with a side of mushy, carrot crudités dusted with fucking parsley. Lol. I’m actually laughing writing this. No cilantro to speak of. So so so bad…

Great service. Food was good, although seemed a little higher priced than I would have thought. Rice and beans had to be ordered as sides and did not come with our entrée. Kid friendly. Margarita was excellent.

Apparently this place changes ownership a lot, so my friend was hesitant to try it out as El Patron. However, neither of us were disappointed. Their nachos are the best!!! If you question whether or not you should give this place a shot, I suggest you do.

LOVE this place! We were staying in Brewster and decided to come here because of all the great reviews. They weren’t wrong, the food was delicious. We had Vasil(not sure if that is spelled right) as our waiter and he as fantastic. He knew exactly what to recommend to us and the service was quick and friendly. Definitely ask for him if you go here! The fish tacos were delicious, and I had a stuffed fish with red pepper cream sauce as my entrée. It was amazing. My friend had the beef enchiladas and loved them. And the margaritas were perfect. If we are back in this area we will definitely be coming here again!

This place is a hidden gem. Very cute inside, nice bar set up, and looked like an outdoor area in the back. We stopped in for lunch and had a quesadilla and burrito. It was«fresh»; not heavy salted, seasoned, or overly greasy cheesy. If you like spicy, be sure to request their hot sauce, that had a nice kick. A nice change to the typical spots on the Cape.

I should preface this review by saying that I have eaten at other restaurants, and even other Mexican restaurants, so my perspective nay be different from that of other reviewers who gave this place high marks. This is unquestionably the worst«Mexican» food I have ever had. It was neither authentic nor, for the most part, edible. For the price and ambiance(which is nice), this may have been the worst meal I’ve ever had. The«salsa» is basically spicy marinara sauce. The guacamole tastes like avocado mixed with lemon Crystal Light powder. I’m pretty sure the margarita was made with the same stuff. My enchiladas verdes came swimming in a tomatillo«sauce» so copious and watery that I had to pour it out(it filled a water glass) before I could start eating. My best guess is that these were frozen enchiladas and sauce defrosted in a microwave. My wife’s chicken was inedible, as was my son’s burrito. Pretty much the only thing we ordered that wasn’t gross was the chicken fingers off the kid’s menu(which were pre-frozen). The only two items that did not appear to have been pre-made and then either thawed out or reconstituted were the plantains and the veggies. Both were undercooked. Carrots are great raw, and they are great cooked. They are kind of gross when they’ve been cooked«just a little». Come to think of it, those may also have been frozen. If you are in the mood for pre-made, inauthentic, watery, poorly prepared«Mexican» food, go to the freezer section of your local supermarket. It will be cheaper. And if that isn’t where El Patron is getting their food… well, I’d hate to think that somebody actually made this stuff fresh in their kitchen. One star for decent service and ambiance.

Not your typical gringo-ized Mexican fare. Seafood dishes: arroz a la tumbada — chock full of seafood including lobster served in tomato broth and rice and siete mares — medley of seafood in spiced tomato broth served with corn tortillas. A la pibil — mildly spiced pork with vegetables and rice. Pork was flavorful, but a bit too dry. Taco selection included choice of four of seven filling options. Vegetables were crisp. Fun desserts. Fried ice cream coated in corn flake crumbs was tasty. Could be improved with less coating and more ice cream. Vanilla flan and chocolate cake combo had smooth texture. Would prefer more custard and less cake. Margaritas were generously sized. Owner, Luis, was our waitperson — service was friendly and attentive. All in all a pleasing dining experience.

Stopped by for lunch. The food is very good and fresh. No bland re fried beans or stale rice. I had the fish burrito it came with fresh sautéed vegetables and delicious plantains. I would definitely come back. The food is much more authentic than other Mexican restaurants in the area.

Had a very pleasant meal. Food was ok. Portion size was very good. Drinks were boozy which we enjoyed but didn’t taste as they should have. Vasil our Bulgarian waiter was an absolute joy. He was an gentleman and really cared about our dining experience. The table behind us had an issue with their food and he handled it so well. A fantastic young man and he really added to our dining experience. Overall this place is good value for money and we will be back.

Want Mexican food? Drive the extra ½ mile to Guapos! While great Mexican food does not exist on the cape, at least Guapos has taste. We went to el patron because of all the great reviews but it was HORRIBLE. The fish was way too beer battered and tasted like beer. The fish burrito had no flavor and made me feel sick. My kom had the fish tacos and they were nasty and they didn’t even look good. The wait staff was rude and slow even tho we were the only people there. Do not go to El Patron. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 3 minutes to Guapos.

Excellent authentic Mexican food. Nice atmosphere and the service tonight(Late July) was great. Called ahead for a party of eight on a Friday night, and were promptly seated 10 mins later. The mole sauce is incredible, and the burritos are well stuffed. Excellent margarita options too. Great alternative on The Cape if you’re ready for something different.

Great new addition to Brewster. authentic Mexican food. We went with a party of 8 and everyone loved their food. I had the Chicken Mole which was very yummy. Free chips and salsa and very good Margaritas. The male server is a joy and helped make the experience. Will be back for sure.

Had dinner there last night on Tuesday 6⁄23. We were a larger party and were initially greeted by a miserable /rude and extremely unhappy female bartender who said«you should have made reservations ». I responded that we were simply driving by and decided to stop in. Not sure why reservations were needed as the place was about 98% empty on Tuesday night. Not exactly the first initial greeting you want customers to experience when you are a newly opened restaurant and trying to survive. If I wasn’t with my family including 5 children who were all hungry. I would have walked out and told her what I thought of her welcome /greeting. The good news was that the servers we had were both amazing(blond young lady and a dark haired younger gentlemen). Both I think are foreign exchange students who are here for the summer. They couldn’t have been any better. Just wonderful. The food was pretty good and everyone said that they enjoyed it. We ordered a combination of everything. No complaints. Recommendation to the new owners. Maybe replace the miserable female bartender who greets your customers. She is the last person you want greeting /welcoming customers if you want to stay in business at this very tough location. There is a reason why the bar area was completely empty on a Tuesday night.

Great authentic Mexican on the cape! The chicken mole was one of the best I’ve ever had. Skirt steak was also perfectly cooked. Will definitely come back for more.
