We have been there several times and never were disappointed. On Saturday we went and both my husband & I had items from the Summer Menu. They were both great. My husband had the Chicken & Shrimp & Pasta dish and it was superb… light and tasty. I had the Tropical Shrimp with rice & salsa and it was outstanding… very tasty, definitely will have it again. They always seem to have something special going on. The atmosphere is great… sit in the bar area with all the TVs for excitement or in the back room for a more quiet dinner. You just can’t miss. Something on the menu for everyone.

Not happy at all! Made a reservation for a window table in the he bar a week ago for Fathers Day. You know things are not going to go well when both hostess have no idea you made a reservation! No window tables available because no one planned for you coming! Wanted to put us at a table behind a large party on the wall. Then it takes a half hour to get a chicken wrap and a burger when half the restaurant is empty. Will think twice about going back.

This place is the best! Find a spot at the bar, order a harp and enjoy. Food is delicious. You can never go wrong with fish tacos either.

My Family & I came to PJs for the first time last night. The food was very good. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with lovely décor, A traditional Irish restaurant. The establishment is very well operated and makes you feel very welcomed. I would recommend PJ Sweeney’s anytime.

Went here with my mom and fiancé to watch a band play some music and had the best waitress ever! I really don’t remember her name but she was really sweet and funny too. We got a bunch of apps which were delish the crab dip, pretzels, and potato soup were my favorites! Definitely going back for some more of those pretzels though!

Sweeney’s offers a vast menu & decent children’s menu. It’s beautiful on the inside. Never had bad food. Only complaint is it is unbelievably noisy at dinner time. You literally have to shout to have a conversation unless you sit in their small dining room. Personally, we like the high top bar tables or booths, but you pay the price with the noise. As a result, we have started making this our go-to lunch joint. Same great fare, so much less of the noise. They also offer incredible Happy Hour specials from 4 – 7, Tuesday is Happy Hour all night, and Thursday is trivia. Small bands also play some nights. Large screen TV’s everywhere. Great for watching a game. This place has it all. Make sure you have the House fries-to die for!

Pro: Food is edible. A+ Décor. Con: Way way way overpriced for the quality and quantity. Food taste is on the bad side of mediocre. I honestly can’t recommend anything I ate: Anybody else would have complained. Blarney rolls: inside ingredients were lukewarm. Outside tasted too sweet like it was topped with sugar. Sampler: Stale nacho chips topped with cold spicy liquid nacho cheese. Potato skins and cheese were too dry. Mozzarella sticks were generic store bought. Buffalo wings were very good. They ran out of chicken strips and doubled up my wings without notifying me first. Fish chips: Hardly any fish smothered with tons of breading. Vodka shrimp: where were the artichokes? The«garlic» bread was stale, and had no garlic whatsoever. The vodka sauce was too watery and should have been more creamy. At least the shrimp smelled and tasted fresh, and it was loaded with marinated red peppers. $ 19 felt like a ripoff. I don’t blame the cook; it just seems like there’s no managerial oversight on the food quality here. This place is clearly set up for just a bar crowd. I can’t recommend this place because of the food, and I will not be returning any time soon because of the food. I went here because I thought this place was owned by Simko’s of Brielle. Everybody must be drunk by the time their food gets to them to see 4&5 star reviews for this place.

I like the décor a lot. The food is so so. Nothing great. They don’t have really any gluten free options so it was hard for me to pick an entrée. My husband had their signature steak and it was small. He said it was good but it wasn’t filling. They call themselves a steakhouse and pub but they only have 3 steaks on the menu to choose from. I think it’s a nice place to grab a drink and app. It’s always crowded though, so I guess they’re doing something right.

We’ve been trying to make it here for weeks, and that time finally came tonight. Prior to going, we read some reviews, and a few seemed unfavorable! I attribute our going to wanting to see a movie so bad, regardless of what people say about it… so, that being said, my wife and I were pleasantly surprised. The crowd was great, beer choices were plentiful, and the place was packed. The moral of the story… give it a shot for yourself, you’ll love it!

Told us a 20 minute wait time, waited over an hour till we got a table. When you have kids that’s extra disappointing. Wouldn’t recommend.

We thought we would give this place a try for dinner. Went in on a Monday night and it wasn’t too busy. We easily grabbed a couple of spots at the bar. After ordering our drinks we looked at the menu. It’s a pretty damn good menu. There were at least 4 things I wanted to try. We decided on the Dublin style potato skins which had Irish cheddar and rashers to start. It’s a pretty good size portion and it was delicious. For our entrees, my fiancée had the short rib sliders and I decided on the shepherds pie. You get 3 nice size sliders which of course I had to try. They came with a delicious dipping sauce and had a nice horseradish bite. The shepherds pie was huge. It was exactly what I expected, potato top with filling of meat, gravy and veggies. Nothing to surprise, but delicious none the less. It has that nice Irish pub vibe, with a sports bar feel. It’s very clean and the staff did a great job making us feel welcome.

I’ve been waffling on how I feel about this place, and honestly 2 stars is a bit harsh, but 3 stars would probably be a bit too generous. The staff was nice and friendly, the service was fairly speedy, and the décor was nice, so what went wrong? Well, here goes. First — the good things. The newly redesigned restaurant(formerly Simko’s) is really nice looking, and gives a solid«Irish Pub» feel without going too over-the-top. Plenty of bar seating and lots of taps sells the pub idea, and they even have a decent selection of craft brews on tap, as well as Magner’s hard cider(which is honestly a TRUE cider, not that sugary-sweet stuff like Angry Orchard). If sports are your thing, there’s a ton of TV’s and a projector in the restaurant as well, although I kinda wish they didn’t try to ‘sports bar’ the place — Brick already has enough of those. The menu is diverse. A little too diverse, if you ask me. For an Irish-themed restaurant, it’s a little odd to see things like tacos(wtf?), pizza, and cannoli’s on the menu, but I guess they’re trying to please everyone. Prices were OK, bordering on «a little steep», with most Irish fare costing ~$ 14, and most other items being in the $ 14−20+ range as well. Even the burgers were $ 11+. Since I was feeling like sticking to the«theme», I went for the Shepard’s Pie, which is a staple that any Irish place should be judged on, if you ask me. Feeling a bit hungry, we also went for an order of the potato skins. As I said earlier, service was prompt and friendly, but then again this was also on a Monday night, so that could have something to do with it — the place was only half full. The food was… well, honestly, it was disappointing to say the least. The potato skins came out fairly quickly, but for $ 9, we got a bunch of fairly soft potato wedges with a bunch of mild white cheddar on them, and an even milder bacon. Net result: the things were horribly bland, and I found myself dousing them with salt, pepper, or anything I could find that would give it flavor other than«potato». A stronger bacon, or maybe some scallions or something would have helped a ton, here. A bit later, my food came out, and honestly — it was more of the same; bland, bland, bland. Portion size was decent, and it was really filling, but for $ 14 it tasted like they took some ground beef and frozen veggies, dumped a jar of beef broth into it, and topped the whole thing with mashed potato. No real spices, seasonings, etc. Comeon, guys, a little bit of sage or something would go a long way here. Also, if you’re keeping with authenticity, you might want to rename it to «Cottage Pie», since a true Shepard’s pie is supposed to be made with lamb, which also would make it more worth the $ 14 price tag, if you ask me. I might come back one day to give them a second chance, but above average prices with below average food has kinda scared me away for now. I really truly wanted to love this place — the service was great, the theme was great, but they totally struck out on the food and price.

We decided to visit PJ Sweeneys for dinner last night and arrived around 6:30pm. We waited about 30 minutes for a table(not awful) and we were seated in the main dining room. The décor was nice and the restaurant was very clean, although the noise level was very loud and made it difficult to talk or even hear our server. We didn’t order drinks from the bar, just water and iced tea. They were quick to come and about 10 minutes later we placed our food order(7:15pm). We asked that the kids food(chicken fingers) come out as soon as possible and the server(Peader) said«I’ll have it come out with the soups». Unfortunately the soups and chicken didn’t come out promptly, as they came to the table just after 8pm. Our meals(pulled pork sliders, chicken sliders and fish & chips) arrived about 15 minutes later. We aren’t complainers, we’ve all had bad days, but after taking one bite of my slider I had enough. It was flavorless, the buns were rock hard from sitting under the warming lamps and the cheese had melted crisp(dark brown) and could only be cut with a knife. My wife’s fish was rubbery and she too had only a bite before deciding it was better to be safe than to be sorry. The chicken sliders were great and nothing bad could be said about them, they were cooked perfectly and the potato buns were soft. Our server arrived and asked if we wanted it wrapped and we graciously declined, he asked if it was ok and I told him the truth. A few minutes later, Al the manager came over to the table and asked about our experience. We described how our dinners arrived and he was very apologetic. He offered to expedite something else to the table and we declined as it was now after 9pm and the kids had school in the morning. We told him how great the server was and that we understood it wasnt his fault, he thanked us for the compliments(we tipped him very well to make up for the awful night he was having). Al comp’d my meal and gave a discount on the entire check. A fair gesture and Al seems to truly care about your experience at PJ Sweeneys. I know it’s a relatively new place, and we’ll give it a second shot, but I hope they get their act together soon. Brick has needed a fresh, new spot for awhile and I hope PJ Sweeneys will be it! Love the Irish décor!

Soooo I really want to give them a good review because I know with my son a manager of a restaurant they look for these . The positives great menu lots to choose from. Very much an Irish Pub love all the details. The bar is amazing lots of beer on Tap we had wings for appetizer mixture of traditional buffalo and dry rub garlic Parmesan. Delicious !! Then there was a problem with our lunch order … We waited a very long time. So the manager came over to let us know that somehow our meals were sent to another table and they were extremely sorry and that our meals were on the house !! That is super nice and much appreciated. I ordered Cornbeef and cabbage … The cabbage was not cooked(I am guessing because they rushed it) my husband had sizzling steak sandwich … They forgot the onions. When asked about the onions they brought sauté onions not the frizzled . Overall I will come back as they are just barely opened and are working out all the kinks. And these were all minor things. The manager and wait staff were great.
