So, I’ve gone to this bar/restaurant a lot and I absolutely loved it. My sister who is home from college wanted to grab lunch around 3pm on a Wednesday and I raved about how great the food was. Unfortunately, we were denied service because she was under 21. She ordered a water and we were not sitting at the bar. We ended up going to a bar/restaurant with the same layout a few spots down and they were very surprised to hear what had happened. With that being said, I do enjoy their food an atmosphere, however, it is not a great place to bring family’s or friends under 21. We were a bit embarrassed.

I went to Brennan’s Shebeen this past Sunday. It a place located in the Black Rock area of Bridgeport. I have driven by many, many times, and decided to give it a try. It’s basically a large room, with a bar area and tables. Very comfortable, and a friendly atmosphere. It’s a nice Irish pub that has a good menu of bar food, from burgers, salads, breakfast, etc. The service was great, good selection of beers, and full bar. The food was very fresh and excellent. We ordered a blacked chicken salad, and beef sliders. Now that I tried Brennan’s, I do plan to make several more stops, I really enjoyed it.

If you’re looking for a laid back place to get great food and drink then this is the place to go. It’s like a real life Cheers, a black rock gem! The bartenders are extremely friendly and eager to please. Highly recommend the irish spring rolls or the southwest chicken salad, my two favs.

Big fan of this Irish pub. Fair drink prices, quality food, and an overall good value. Friendly local bartenders and sometimes interesting music on the weekends! The guitarist in my band lives across the street from this pub so we end up going here when I’m in the area. We frequent several different local hangs and this is one of my favorites, for sure. A great place to get your first pint of Yuengling after landing on the East Coast!

Good atmosphere but when food takes too long and I asked for a bowl of chili to be taken off my tab and told No cause it’s homemade seems a bit far fetched. This is a first for me that I can’t have food taken off my tab I never received cause it took too long

A great place for live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The band’s that come through this place are really talented. A nice Irish bar to it’s very core they offer a fireplace and a cozy feeling. Basic beer selections including the common Irish favorites. Don’t come here expecting a craft beer selection however. A solid place for a beer and a burger at a nice price. If you come at the right time they have free appetizers too. Located in the artsy Black Rock community within Bridgeport it has a subtle gritty flare to it! I highly recommend!

I love this place. I’m out of town on business and staying next door to this place. The bartender Adam has and been making me feel at home with his Hospitality. I have a lot of watering holes around me but my money is always here. Great service, they remember you r name and what your drinking. I will have to say that this place has made it easy to be away from home.

Decent pub to hang or hide– your call. With that said, the beer choices are uncreative and basic/standard. I really wish they would raise the bar(hahaha) and add better & more creative beer options. The food is OK– typical bar food but its fresh, fast and fairly extensive menu. What I do LOVE however, is the stone wood burning FIREPLACE! Staff and patrons alike stoke & feed the fire which is a cool thing to be able to do and keeps me coming back. And I like the hard wood, exposed beams, natural wood fashioned into burly furniture and the long bar. Super mixed crowd w varying age groups from local Fairfield U students to blue collar, HH, & sport fans. Great for sports viewing w at least 3 flat screen TVs. Service is decent. Parking across the street is bes t.

I have gone to Brennan when it is busy and there is a large crowd(either a fundraiser or band playing) The acoustics in the place are a bit weird and it is hard to hear the person next to you in these situations so beware. On a normal night, it is an adorable little pub/restaurant with a nice homey feel. The fireplace is a prime seat and I always try to get as close as I can in the winter months. The staff is friendly and helpful. You never feel rushed to move along.

This place is the best. Most of our Wednesday trivia crew are teachers here in Bridgeport, which is to say that we’re a tired and overworked bunch by Wednesday. But I always get over my hump day blues at Wednesday night trivia so I always find the activation energy to do it. It’s the homiest bar. Cute but not quite tacky décor coupled with a lovely fireplace give it distinctly living room vibe. Most of all, it’s the people. I can’t think of a nicer staff at an establishment anywhere. April, our server, truly takes care of us each week. Ward, the trivia MC, is like a beloved wacky uncle. And Adam, the bartender, recently was game to offer a secret menu item and and a crucial clue in a friend’s flawlessly executed birthday scavenger hunt. The fish and chips, Irish nachos and curry fries are as good as everyone says. But I’d keep coming even with more mediocre food because it’s such a pleasure coming each Wednesday. Can’t recommend highly enough. Quick tip: Come prepared for Beatles and Yankees questions.

As far as Irish pubs or local bars go, the Shebeen’s tops! It’s a great little bar on Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport’s Black Rock neighborhood. One great thing about the Shebeen is that it’s so comfortable. I mean how many bars do you see a crowd that’s young and old and everything in between? I’ve been going to Wednesday night trivia for over a year and it’s a great time. The staff’s always friendly(and they actually do remember your name!) and the food’s good. The curry fries are delicious! We often get the vegetable version, but it’s the curry sauce that makes this so yummy! Other favorites include the Irish nachos — waffle fries with cheese, bacon and sour cream. Ask for jalapenos and you’ve got one delicious, decadent app! Irish spring rolls filled with corned beef and cabbage are another fun option. I’m not one for pubs or pub food, but I’m a huge fan of Brennan’s Shebeen. Go for trivia night, go for one of the many beers, go and have some fun! Oh, and say hi to Adam at the bar or April on the floor, they’re the best!

Good Guinness, no harsh chemical taste from industrial cleaners. The Hot Dog was really outstanding, real SPORTPEPPERS! I know the relish looks eeh, but it tastes great.

Good place to have a couple of drinks. Happy Hour 4 – 7 Mon-Friday, with $ 3 draft beers, which included Guinness! 4 Guinness for $ 12 = Awesome! Friendly bartender. Sports shows on the TV, to have something to watch. Ordered the Irish nachos, which was very good. They taste like potatoes skins. I will be coming back

Irish nachos is an amazing recipe. Waffle fries, cheese, bacon, pure unhealthy yum. And a great offset to all of the beer drinking that goes along with hanging out at Brennan’s. Fun atmosphere with a good mix of bar seats and high top tables. Live music. Very loud. But a good mix of some regular bands that seem to have quite the following. Bartenders are friendly and prompt. And made sure we all had full beers for the 7+ hours we were there.
