I am rating this beach only in comparison to the other beaches in this area. This beach is huge and beautiful. It is an excellent place to walk. At low tide the sand dunes are huge which makes it very safe for families with small children. The beach is daily clean, but remember people it’s Long Island sound not the Bahamas. The water is warmer than other beaches in the area. I love it here. Come check it out.

What a shithole this beach has become. My dogs looooove the smell of the beach so when I moved to Bridgeport I started walking them here year round.
I no longer would ever consider walking them here again. I would usually walk in near the main entrance and walk along the rocks at the top of the sand.
During the day, the place is loaded with people just hanging out by their cars blasting hip hop and trying to sell bootleg dvds. At night, its just plain ol creepy.
Everytime I would walk them I would notice more and more garbage all over the place. I could deal with the broken glass and banana peels and just random crap eveywhere. What I cannot deal with is needles all over the place. Unacceptable. I will not risk my dogs stepping on some junkies dirty needle.
Side note: if you’re looking for a good beach around here, it should give you pause if its listed as solely a music venue, as this one is, especially when it’s only a music venue 3 days out of the year.
